    You move with a classical lyricism that reminds me of Suzanne Farrell. It seems to me that gymnastic prowess is supplanting expression in the training of today's ballet students.

      Thank you! Suzanne Farrell was one of my ballet idols when I was a young dancer-such lyrical, poetic movement, bearing… I agree that today’s training emphasizes pure technique perhaps more than artistic expression. And yes, gymnastics has made its way more and more into ballet. I love showing the tenderness of movement. Ballet’s radiant beauty is what inspires me most. I also feel it has the power to heal something in our spirits. Thank you for your kind words. 🙏💕🩰

    I got some questions, I'm 15 an I want to do ballet as a hobbie but if I am any good I want to try professional. If I do try I'll be in a little kid class which doesn't bother me, but I don't know if I have the body to be able to try professional ballet in the future I'm 5'4 and weight 150 pounds; I want a professional's opinion about this because I'll do anything to be able to ballet.

    • @everydayballet
      @everydayballet  3 роки тому +3

      Training to be a professional dancer usually begins before age 12, but there is no reason you can't dance ballet recreationally and get an incredible amount of joy from it! I hope you will pursue your love of ballet to the fullest extent possible! Remember, doing something you love is one of the most important things you can do for your life. :-D

    God I curled my toes so much in this :( It's literally the only problem. I'm afraid I will get used to curling them and then it'll be extremely hard to learn pointing them right if I keep going like this....

    • @everydayballet
      @everydayballet  2 роки тому +1

      Hi there! Thanks for reaching out. It sounds like you are scared of not being perfect with your form, especially when it comes to pointing your toes. I don’t know which video you watched, but it sounds like it painted a dire picture! First, know that it takes time to work into your ballet technique. Not being able to do things exactly correctly is fully expected and is just part of the learning process! Regarding your feet and “curling” toes-just keep trying to reach through the toes as you point them. This will help prevent curling. Most importantly, don’t worry too much! With time, it will be well and your feet will be stronger! It sounds like you are a conscientious student and I have confidence you will find your way! So glad you will be taking lessons-this will help your feet and confidence! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻✨💕🩰

    What's the name of another movement? When you lift your leg I mean, Or Is it just part of round de jambe?

    • @everydayballet
      @everydayballet  2 роки тому +1

      There are several types of steps that take the legs into the air (en l’air). In this sequence I do a slow “battlement” to lift the leg. Then when the toe comes from the knee is called “développé” 😊🌸🩰
