This a tremendous workout and a great way to start my morning. Thank you Tieka for your videos . I can work them into my life. You are a fantastic teacher.I am so happy I discovered your videos here on Utube
That was an amazing and surprisingly hard exercise! I love how detailed and gentle your explanations are. I am trying out ballet for the first time in my life - I have always admired ballet, but never thought I would be able to dance, because I really don`t know how to use my body properly and I have a lot of backpain. But now with the help of Alexander technique lessons and your wonderful ballet exercises I feel like it could be possible for me. Thank you so much!
You are very welcome! I’m so glad you found my channel! How wonderful that you are trying ballet-it really can be accessible and healthy for most adults, provided the instruction is given in a manner that works with the body rather than against it… I really hope you’ll continue exploring ballet for yourself and enjoying my videos. 🙏🥰🩰✨
I watched a webinar about Rider Biomechanics (I ride dressage - ballet on horseback!) and the presenter mentioned that ballet helps to improve the correct posture and biomechanical strength riders need to be effective on horseback. I had forgotten that so I looked up ballet instruction on UA-cam and viola! Your videos are very detailed, enjoyable and easy to follow. I've already done three videos and will be trying more. I've subscribed and will be directing other riders to check your videos out!
Oh I’m so glad you find my videos helpful! Yes, proper posture and body mechanics are the secret to all graceful and powerful movement. Dressage is ballet on horseback-I love it! Thanks so much for sharing and watching! Always here to help illuminate all things ballet! 🥰🩰🙏💐
Thank you so much for what you’re doing! Thanks to you, for the first time I feel confident in my dancing. I’ve been a ballet dancer since I was 4 but nobody has ever properly explained and taught me the building blocks of ballet, I’ve been following your classes for only a few days and I’m now feeling so much more confident in my technique and ability! On another note: After finding your channel, I sent your videos to my best friend who has always wanted to do ballet, but didn’t have the chance as a kid, and now she’s going to start thanks to your videos! ❤
Oh how wonderful!!! I’m so happy my videos are helping you be with ballet with more confidence (and I hope joy, too)! Thank you for your kind words and for sharing my videos with you friend! I LOVE teaching and sharing ballet and it is so gratifying to know it makes a difference. THANK YOU! 🙏🥰🩰🌸
Happy your my teacher here. I thought it was too late to ballet at 40 but also doing it more so for my daughter to get into the school of arts in her country at 10. I did batons in my younger age. Your an amazing teacher and I am so greatful to have come to your page. You have a calm and loving way to teach and encourage others. Your inspiring and a lovely and elegant person❤
Thank you for your kind words. I appreciate them. I’m glad you are sharing ballet with yourself and your daughter! And I hope you both will discover new joy and beauty through movement! It’s an honor to teach something I love to others. 🙏🥰🩰🌸
Thank you Tiekka, I have just done your Ballerina posture exercise and felt tremendous low back release! I will keep following your videos, you have a lovely voice❤
Thank you for adding the video at the beginning it helps a lot. I'm not an athletic person so this was difficult to do. I definitely felt the burn lol. Thank you for these videos ☺️🌷🌹🩰
I absolutely adore this class, it's the first I took in my life and I'm so grateful ❤ It was quite difficult because I felt a lot of pressure on my knees but I suppose I'm just not used to the feeling. I'm 20 and I have dreamed about learning how to dance Ballet, I'm so happy to start! 🎀 It's healing my inner child so much! ✨️
Thank you so much for your kind words! First of all, I could not agree more about how ballet can heal the inner-child. I have found this to be true in my own life and many of my students report a similar experience. And CONGRATULATIONS on starting ballet!!! I’m honored that you took your very first class with me! To help keep your knees safe and comfortable, you may want to see my other videos about Turnout, Plié and Doing Ballet with Bad Knees (you don’t have to have bad knees to learn these helpful training tips). I’ll put them below. 🥰🩰✨ How to TURN OUT CORRECTLY ua-cam.com/video/L5sbyJzeZkk/v-deo.html BALLET BASICS: How to PLIÉ ua-cam.com/video/k70uyYKlIU0/v-deo.html How to do Ballet with "Bad Knees" ua-cam.com/video/0JQVEfeo8bo/v-deo.html

@@everydayballet Tikka, I am an 81 year old woman with multiple injuries - I lived in Alaska, in and out, for three decades. Before that I studied African, Senegalese and Congolese dance for 15 years. Before that, Ballet. I have used my body and continue to do so. Each injury, as well as aging, has slowed me down although with a Scottish Terrier who demands his walks, standing Yoga positions and QiGong I continue to use my body as much as my physical limitations allow. Discovering your ututbe classes brings great joy to me. I love relearning proper alignment of my body again. I want my dancers posture, again; all it takes is practice and muscle memory and a good teacher.. I am limited to foot and leg work as my left leg has had a gazzilion stupid injuries. But I can do plies to a limited point. Thank you so much. You are a wonderful Dance teacher. Had I the funds I would sign up for classes. I write all this so you will know your audience. BTW :I am a poet, you can view my work on line, my latest collection is on Amazon, signed copies available through me. Thank you again for returning an extremely important element back into my life. Very good vid! You re a classic, feminine lady, I admire you! wanna have a beautiful, feminine posture as I m sticked to the chair on my laptop working everyday..do you think I LL reach this elegant posture if I do the exercise for 30 days? Thank you so much!
Thank you so much for your kind words! You will definitely develop better posture doing this exercise-I would recommend continuing with it even after 30 days to maintain your strength & awareness. You should also try my other videos: Core & Posture and Ballet Arms. Of course, if you want to achieve that total ballerina vibe then try doing ballet! My programs are on sale right now-here’s the link: www.everydayballet.com/holiday-offers/
Great suggestion! My online program (Ballerina Body) has a complete program for 30 days and beyond--I definitely recommend it, because it's the fully guided approach. And I'll be publishing more videos with this in mind. So glad you're here!
its hurt to keep my shoulders away from my ears..Im constantly remind myself, but my shoulders creeping up, any advise to keep them away naturally and pain free?
Just be sure you aren’t pressing down through the shoulders. Instead, they should “release” and naturally fall away from the ears. It’s a relaxation of tension in the neck and shoulders that allows them to gently descend. If this exercise is too intense, try it without the towel and focus on releasing through the neck and shoulders as you lift the arms. Try to firm your core without tensing the neck and shoulders. That’s the goal. Hope this helps! 🥰🩰🌸
It means to gently pull in and up through the abdomen, especially the area below the navel. I say”gently” because typically people pull in their abdomen so hard that they tense up the neck, shoulders, chest, and hold their breath. That’s why I use the word “hug”-to make this action a bit softer. You should be able to release the neck/shoulders and breathe as you hug in your core. I hope this helps! 😊🩰✨
That yellow tutu is so cute!
