This video will show the process of making a rock using a mesh wire and plaster and will cover the detailing of the rock to make a nice looking rock for our taxidermy bear.
I use a powder tempera paint for most of my colors, not sure the brand I've bought different ones, but a black, browns, and greens are my typical choices. You water them down depending on the intensity of the color you want to show, if you spray from a bottle you just have to make sure you mix all the clumps out or your bottle will clog.
