Those were games for the game boy. Game boy color was a SNES add on and I'm pretty sure there were no exclusive titles attached to it.

Personally, I never considered 100% accurate moves missing a "glitch". I mean, sure the move might always land exactly where intended, but that shouldn't mean the target can't dodge... or you know, just because nothing is ever entirely predictable and sometimes random flukes outside anyone's control just happen.
Also, I play D&D where accuracy is checked by rolling a twenty sided die. No matter the accuracy though, a 20 always hits and a 1 always misses. So again, even "perfectly" accurate attacks failing sometimes just made sense to me.
Also, as mentioned in this video, even when they fixed this "glitch" it was only for 100% accurate moves, while all other accuracies are still off by a fractional percentage.

Oh yeah I never thought about it like that before, it is a lot like D&D

That's a fair point. I can think of a few systems, like D&D, where there's always at least a slight possibility of failure which makes sense for the reasons you pointed out. In the context of this system though I still think it's safe to call it an error given that they changed it to work 100% of the time later. We can infer that they didn't want it to have that baked in possibility for failure. The game still has ways for a target to dodge though, it just requires the target to spend a turn using a move to either raise their own evasion or lower accuracy.

@@prjctmutt: yeah, they "fixed" it, but by coding in a specific exception only for moves with base 100% accuracy. If it had been a mistake, they could have fixed every attack by changing the formula from a less than check to a less than/equal to check.
To me the way they went about it feels less like admitting to a mistake and more like placating players who were upset a "100%" move was really more like 99.6%. Especially since the Gen-1 games did otherwise have an explicitly never miss move in the form of Swift.

@@EmeralBookwise to me it seems weird for people to be upset about something that probably happens less than once per playthrough. I don't know. I'd probably utter a dirty word and move on. Maybe I'm just not as invested.

Like, between this thread and the video, you guys have put way more thought into the game than I have. I just know I love to play it.
