I just finished watching this video. It was... something else.
What really soured the viewing experience was the unnecessary urge to shit on FF4 out of nowhere, and with zero explanation, no less. If you personally dislike the game, that's one thing. But to insinuate that this is objectively the "worst" FF title is a terrible take, and I'll explain why.
FF4 deserves far more respect than you're giving it. It took some of the best aspects of the NES-era games before it and gave us a solid story with a fleshed-out protagonist, complete with an ensemble cast that's just as interesting, if not moreso. It was the first to implement the time-tested ATB system, which would go on to influence many RPGs even outside of FF. And while later titles would certainly improve on and refine the ATB system, and the lack of a job system may be a step back in gameplay for some, you gotta respect the effort made into giving personality to the characters based on the fixed job given to them to weave a compelling story for its time while balancing out the difficulty based on the fixed parties given to you at different parts of the story.
There's a reason this game has so many re-releases and so many different versions over the years (including a 3D Remake and the stellar Complete Collection on PSP), and it's not because it's objectively the "worst" Final Fantasy as you're implying. In reality, it's one of the most beloved, in spite of having its share of flaws (certain dungeons like the Sealed Cavern feeling padded on, for example). It's also a rather short game compared to most, which makes it a good barrier-of-entry game in its own right (and speedrun-friendly, to boot). Lastly, with the quality-of-life changes in previous re-releases carried over to the Pixel Remaster version (save for the GBA version's extra content), it's more accessible than it's ever been.
Again, if you personally dislike the game, that's fine. Opinions are subjective. But when your opinionated dislike for a game turns to a projection toward your audience presented as an objective fact - intentionally or unintentionally - with zero explanation, that's not a good look at all. It comes off as disingenuous. In the future, try to give that explanation for your opinion so people can better understand where you're coming from. Sure, some people might still give you backlash after the fact (it's the internet, people will be jerks), but screw them. At least the more level-headed individuals that are giving you the time of day will respect your opinion.
That being said, I look forward to seeing more of your Final Fantasy content in the future. It was an interesting watch overall.
I've gotta disagree with your take on 4. I'd much rather play that than 1, 2, 3, 8, 12, or 13. I'd say people that want to experience the beginning of the "good story" Final Fantasies should start here. It's not the best story, but the first one that is actually worth listening to. There's a lot of very memorable characters there too. I respect your right to your opinion though.
Not my order of most liked, but 10, 9, and 7 are probably the most user friendly and able to understand deep game mechanics without help.

Before even watching the video, if someone said they'll only play one and asked me which one most represents Final Fantasy, I would tell them to play FFIX.
I'd say a newcomer to the series should start with a game that still had the best aspects of Final Fantasy within it before the later games modernised it.
Final Fantasy X.
After the take on ff4 with no explanation, I decided not to watch the rest of the video. Sorry. I don't care if you don't like the game, most things are subjective, but you really did do it a disservice. Honestly despite it's flaws, I'd argue that it's one of the best 2d FF games to recommend to a first time player.
It's strange that you have such vitriol for ff4 when it's considered by many to be the second best 2D Final Fantasy after 6. So much so that while you go out of your way to talk about how 'some people have a negative perception of 2/8/etc.' and explain why, you just flat out call FF4 bad and then continue onward without providing any reasoning.
It makes me wonder if you accidentally only played the After Years, which kind of took a dump on FF4 and left its stain there for anyone that played it.
While I do have a copy of after years, the title I played through was the pixel remaster on steam. I do plan to go more in depth with my personal problems with 4 whenever I actually rank the games, but it's mostly plot points that don't work for me and more restrictive gameplay, especially when playing it right after 3.

I appreciate the angle for this video. As someone who has played all the FFs, I get this question a lot, and usually go threw a few questions I have for them to understand what what to accomplish and what type of games they like. Also, your FF4 distain is a hot take, since most people really like 4. It’s the first to have an ‘epic’ scale story and defined roles for every character with no party customization aside from equipment
Okay, you lost all credibility when you said IV is the worst.
Wow, I thought I was the only one who disliked 4. I think it's very overrated, but also has the potential to be amazing with a modern remake that fleshes out the story and characters. I'm interested to hear your thoughts on FF4 in a video.
