beginner's shuttle tatting - rings and chains - part 1

Adding tatted chains to tatted rings creates an endless number of ideas for projects to make. Making shuttle tatted chains is actually easier than the rings because they do not need to be "closed". You are making the same knot (double stitch) as in the rings, just not in a ring, only a straight line.

You made it look very easy but I do know that it's a matter of practice, I can needle tat but I am now giving the shuttle a go fingers crossed its not as easy as the needle. But thank you for taking the time to share your experience and advice.

In my opinion, you are perhaps one step ahead of the "very" beginner, who has never done any tatting at all. Because you know how to needle tat, you know what the thread is supposed to be doing to create the knots. Now, for you, it is just a matter of learning and mastering the tension in your fingers, creating the knots there, instead of on the needle.
You are correct....either method requires practice; but I know you can do this! Good luck! 😀
