FARSIDE Downhill Bike Park at Chestnut Mountain // Midwest Mountain Biking

- Farside mountain bike park is located at Chestnut Mountain Resort in Galena, Illinois and the first shuttled bike park in the state. This MTB park is a huge improvement to midwest mountain biking! The bike park has about 475 feet of elevation change and the two trails are about 0.75 to 0.85 miles long each. I was riding these trails with my 2022 Polygon Siskiu T8 (bikesonline-us...) and had no problem handling the features out there on the blue trail.
Chestnut mountain is a ski resort in the winter and it seems more and more ski resorts in the midwest are starting to catch on to the value of incorporating bike trails in the summer. Chestnut mtn already remains open in the summer for zip lining, alpine slides and other adventures along the Mississippi river - it only makes sense to utilize the terrain to build out a downhill mountain bike park! :)

Hello, I'm new to biking. Would a trail bike, or an Enduro bike, be better for these bike trails at chestnut mountain?
My polygon T8 is technically a trail bike. It’s a 29er with 150mm front travel and 140 rear travel. This bike handled this bike park perfectly fine. If you have an enduro bike, I would bring that. But if all you have is a trail bike, you shouldn’t have a problem. Some of the bigger drops may feel a little more rough though.
@@MTBTrailRider OK great! Thanks for the reply. I actually don't have any bike yet. I don't think anyone said a bad thing about the Cannondale habit 4, but that looks fairly pricey. That one got my attention for some reason. Sounds like a trail bike or Enduro will work, thanks again.

When does it open?
Should be opening this month! Follow their Instagram page for updates. They are trying to get their signage up on the trails.
