Hello Shawn noticed you like original nemesis to reborn more can you do a video to show between the two and the retro rides having left will be bad for queues in summer as no skyride and two Rita and 13 in 1 corner to ablivion and smiler in other long walks to other rides. They should have got new flat rides before getting rid of retro rides etc. Anyway Shawn is best all around on themeparks in general. Keep it up thanks
This is a sad comment, just warning you - Nemesis was my dad’s favourite ride. He died last year in a traffic collision and I’ve been watching videos about Alton Towers the past few days because it was where my dad took me on holidays and I don’t have anybody who I could go with now.
I’m autistic and I depended on my dad a lot, I feel a bit teary watching your video because it makes me remember walking around here with my dad. I know he would have been so excited to see Nemesis again.
I love Alton Towers but I live in Scotland and I can’t drive and I’m just so sad that I can never go here with my dad again. I don’t even know if I’ll ever be able to go here or to any other theme park at all without my dad, so thank you for making your videos so that people can see these wonderful places. I wish I could go see Nemesis and hold my dad in my heart and get to go on his favourite ride in the world with him even if I cry.
We had plans to visit Alton Towers and Blackpool Pleasure Beach again last year, we used to drive down in the night from Scotland and go to Blackpool first for a day and then the next day go to Alton Towers. We hadn’t managed to do that holiday in years.
We also planned to go to other theme parks in Britain that we hadn’t been to before yet, and our biggest goal was to go to America, but now I don’t know what to do without him. He was the person who made me brave enough to go places, he’d take me to concerts and festivals and pretty much every fun thing I’ve ever done I got to do because of my dad.
I love theme parks and rollercoasters so much, and now I don’t know how I’ll ever be able to visit these places alone because I can barely leave my house alone. My dad was an amazing man and it really sucks that he didn’t get to see how beautiful Nemesis is now and go on his favourite ride. I have so many happy memories with him at Alton Towers.

Sorry for the sad comment, I just can’t think about rollercoasters without missing my dad, and Alton Towers was our favourite place to go together. I just miss him.

I love that idea of Galactica being transformed to a phalanx theme, that would be great.

Well, one of the concepts for Galactica when it was coming to fruition was a Military attack on Nemesis so why not?
It'd be interesting if they had an ongoing story or lore with the Phalanx and introduce rivals to them in the future
In my opinion That would be terrible we do not need more phalanx 😭😭 I would just add more space theme stuff like more planets, portals, cool stuff like blue water falls maybe or something, a redo of the station and make it super futuristic and cool, a new preshow, and abit of a freshen up maybe a repaint but in the exact same colour, and they could add lots of space themeing to that area of forbidden valley.
The story could be that Galactica is the hero coming to fight the nemesis monster
Just having the track all black would just look so much better

Another great vlog, thanks for the tour around the Park both - Charlotte with Alton Bear and the colouring book lol ❤ The Park is looking so much better, it's amazing what a lick of paint can do, clean paths and improved lighting. Bianca and her team are doing a fab job, I'm sure she's got a very long list of things she wants to get done as soon as she can. Surprised to see it's not very busy especially as it's just opened.
Ahh, seeing these videos fill my heart with joy! I absolutely LOVE Alton Towers, it's been my go-to park since I first went!!! Entering X-Sector is my favourite part in this video, The Smiler really is beautiful, isn't it? One personal thing I'd like at Towers is Galactica being rethemed to a Phalanx-esque coaster, black n' red colouring and all (Fun fact, there was actually a plan for AIR to be themed like this!). Loved this video, can't wait to visit Alton Towers again!
Talking about the retheme of galatica the bus what interacts with the ride actually says ' her name was Eve' and she is the one who guides you on your galatic journey basically hinting at a retheme really nice video well done.
I never thought id say this given recent years, but I am very impressed with this closed seasons 'sparkle' projects. It's not even been just a quick job, its been fairly exhaustive and it makes the whole park look so much better for it.

We ran into Alex on Saturday at the park and despite the pouring rain he could not do enough to chat to us and take a selfie. He was hyping the potential upcoming trips u and Charlotte might do next and he is a real asset to u both despite being away from the channel. Great vlog. I cannot wait to visit on Saturday! We really miss the skyride when pushing a pram around the park all day. Love the themed bits that you pointed out in the drinks re-fill stations in and near forbidden valley. These details are so important and add to the experience. Glad the park is cleaned and repainted more this season, x sector was looking very drab last season. It seems that things may be on the up again. Hopefully new flats soon, galactica re theme and the indoor rollercoaster! I do agree about the dungeon though and have never visited it. Although I don’t care for scare attractions at all.
Was there yesterday. Park was looking the best I've seen in a long time. If the new Forbidden Valley & Curse are the new benchmark for themed areas/rides I'm all for it

Nice to see Alton towers back on the up, a very very long way to go yet. Think they need to up there game drastically now though with universal opening a park in the UK
You are so spot on about 59:22 Shawn. Imagine some if some of these fences were replaced with Velocicoaster type fences. It would totally transform the main sightline as you are coming into the valley. This cheap chicken fence ideally should be themed.
Good that you are pointing this stuff out. You really have an eye for the details having visited so many parks.

Good video guys. Glad to see some maintenance taking place around the park, loving the Oblivion hole. Its these little touches which make a huge difference. Prices however of food, parking etc are unjustified. I think we will see a bigger percentage of people taking their own food into the park this year, which is a shame as eating on park used to be an enjoyable experience and part of the day. Keep up the good work both.

My first trip to alton towers mustve been 1998 or 99 on 1st year high school trip. Oblivion had just opened and there was a real buzz about the place back then. I absolutely loved it that day and have been a fan of the place since. Always loved BPB but Alton Towers seemed more refined. Hopefully this is the start of it getting back to its glory days as well.

nemesis was brilliant for my 2 rides, 5th train on the morning and then a night ride later on, i never noticed the rattle so many people are talking about but maybe i got lucky with trains, nice to see your recap of all the new and improved areas

I'm going for a solo trip next month over my birthday, and haven't been since Smiler opened. Can't wait to explore the whole park, I've never had the chance to before. Looks like it'll be full of new surprises, especially Wickerman and, er Wickerman!

That idea of Galactica getting a Phalanx jet/drone theme would be pretty neat. The only problem is that Galactica has very little interaction with Nemesis, so it'd be hard to create a backstory that ties in with it. There would also need to be a big overhaul of the Rollercoaster Restaurant if they wanted that to fit in with the area, too.
I love The idea of re-theming Galactica to this. Imagine it painted the same blue as used in the side of the M1X building. Having a decommissioned jet fighter and a control tower with rotating radar as theming and being renamed Air Command.
Loved the vlog! Have to say the park is looking good! Heading towards the right direction! i've always said if the parks are tidy, fresh paint, weeding done and no litter, it takes away a lot of the dissapointment if any rides go down in my opinion. I really hope Merlin keeps this up 🤞😊.

Both vlogs from the weekend are great, thank you. Nemesis looks so good, pity about Hex and and the sky ride though. Such a shame for mobility issues, buggy's pushchairs and little (and old) legs. We went last Oct for a couple of days and were doing about 20 - 22,000 steps each day (cheers kiddos!). Went to the rollercoaster restaurant on the first night and had worst meal we have ever had, esp' for the price!! Never. Again. Ride downtime over the 2 days was not brilliant either and it was not really apparent what was down and when. (Incidentally, shame that info is not available on the app any more unless you are in the actual park. It was handy to watch for patterns of busy periods and book our visit as we are miles away and wanted to make the most of it without being forced in to purchasing fast passes.). Also... I made a note of what hoodies/tee shirts etc the kids liked while we were there thinking I could get home and buy from them online for Christmas so the kids did not see them... You cannot! Big Mummy fail - A sign in the shop saying you can only buy items onsite would have been helpful! Keep the awesome work. You are my go to for theme park updates and info. :D x

I enjoyed my visit on Sunday first time I have ever been only downside for me was I got stuck on the smiler when it broke down😂😂 think I was on it for 30ish mins
Oblivion clean-up looks amazing. Hoping to get back to the park next year for the first time since '16!
They’ve done a good job!
Spoke to the staff member at the rapids on opening day and they basically said due to focusing on other projects like getting Nemesis ready for opening day other general maintenance had been delayed and so the rapids would be shut temporarily to start the season. Hopefully that means its only shut for a few weeks rather than more long term.
I’ve never been to the park, but have watched quite a few of your visits to Alton Towers over the last few years or so and I have to say, the park looks like new life is being brought to it. Really promising to see.

Speaking off Sonic Spinball, here's a fun fact: To go along the ride, there was a Sonic themed room in the Alton Towers Hotel where you were greeted by a voice message from Sonic himself. This was the first time Sonic was voiced by Roger Craig Smith who is the current VA in the games. (Since 2010) Sonic Spinball opened to coincide with the release of Sonic and Sega All Star Racing and Sonic in this game was voiced by reused voice clips from his VA at the time: Jason Anthony Griffith. (from 2005 to 2009)

Definitely agree with you re the ride availability, especially with the fact that the park cancelled all three buyout days this year.
I usually come for the John Lewis one which sadly didn’t happen. They also cancelled the Kids pass and Blue light card ones.
So they had a least a couple of weeks extra for maintenance

I am finally going to experience Alton Towers for the first time this year for their Halloween event me and my partner are going at the end off October already booked. As a rollercoaster enthusiast i have always been sad ive never gone. To see it looking spectacular at done up ive think ive choose the perfect time to go
Station and track look amazing, however rather poor operations today. I think every ride had down time today (including Nemesis). They had two trains at the start, reduced to one train around 11am but then they sent the train round only half full (back half empty) - and the ride kept closing throughout the day. The red colouring for the water is probably making a come back for pumps have been installed for it apparently. Hope things will settle before it gets really busy
Sunday was definitely an off day for availability, we got evac'd from Oblivion as it stopped on the lift, then from wicker man when the fire alarm went off (don't vape in the preshow!!), then got stuck on the Nemmy brake run for a bit too. Was typical, i hadnt had a single queue line evac since July 2020 and tgen i had 3 in the space of 18 hours 🤣 Saturday and Monday were much better though so I think it was just bad luck
Great video once again guys, thank you so much. Looking better in terms of TLC now that they have new management in place, Looking great in all areas but as you said still needs work. Would love to see a themed Ripsaw style back in X Sector, not sure what they could do with Air but certainly probably needs a refurb now.
I haven’t been since 2019 and hoping to go this summer, will be so amazing to see how much has changed

So glad your seeing the rattle its a wheel issue 100% and wickerman has also got that wheel rattle issue on one train also 😢 someone’s not tightening them properly I’m really concerned it’s gonna derail it doesn’t feel right both you pair my friend and I have said this we have been riding nemesis and wickerman for years and know how they should feel and what they sound like somthing is off!
The imagination thats gone into the concept and design of the rides at Alton Towers i think are some of the best in the world. The Smiler being my favourite, whoever thought of that should be knighted, its geneous. I was there the year the Corkscrew opened , they gave you a certificate for riding it. Happy days 🎢

Bianca Sammut is doing a fantastic job at Towers I must say. So good to see them not resting on their laurels and making so many improvements. Keep up the momentum with new flats/Project Horizon in the next few years and it could compete with the very best!

Shaun what's your thoughts on caping daily capacity due to ride availability, there was reports of alot of down time today on many rides due to weather an technical issues . I think alton towers is In desperate need of at least 1 new ride in each section of the park. For example x sector once had 4 rides oblivion, black hole,submission,enterprise, now it has 2 rides if I'm right. The park definitely needs more rides due to capacity through the park at weekends an school holidays.
Not an engineer either but I think the issue with nemesis may indeed be a train issue or kind of track issue, but I'm also unsure how easy it is to fix. Since that final corner is a very gentle upward helix, the wheel mechanism might be a little too loose for it to be taking that element at that kind of speed. It could be that smoothing out the curve could help but I think maybe if they can find a way to speed the train up going into that final turn it may also improve or help that issue.
Congo river rapids was missing 2 wood planks on the lift hill hence why it’s not open (spotted from wickerman)
A shame we didn’t get to see you ride the coasters today it’s always a highlight seeing yours and Charlotte’s reactions. Would you consider doing a video going round doing all 10 coasters in more detail? Summarising each one with negatives and positives, plus analysing the wait times and operations etc? Also the best order in which to do all the coasters?
We just wanted to make sure we got all of the updates in around the park with this one! We’ll be doing more ride reviews throughout the year!
As my favourite ride in the park, great to see Oblivion getting some TLC! Excellent VLOG, and it's really encouraging to see the improvements that are being made. Ride availability already feels like a concern though... this alone makes a 365 operation unlikely in the near future.

Oblivion my favourite. We got to ride it at the end of 1997 season. Always my fave
I like the new map design, because in previous Alton Towers maps, the gardens was not very big compared to the 80s and 90s maps, and it is the biggest part of the park, so having it being the centrepiece of the map is nice.

This is the year to visit Alton Towers for me. Last year felt bittersweet without nemesis especially because it is my favourite ride in the country.

Really hoping bianca can bring the good old times back to alton towers last year was my first year of attending the park on a regular basis with a annual pass but I noticed how dirty and ran down the park looked. Hoping brighter times are ahead

Another nice & good vlog, really enjoyed and look forward in future to seeing more. Would be interested & love to see Galactica have a re theme into a Nemesis themed coaster? If not, this more likely never happen, but would love to see this coaster Air / Galactica maybe removed & Vekoma Flying Coaster built in its place with a new layout? But probs will be another retheme, 100% love the sound of a Nemesis sequel. Would love to see more tunnels and theming built round coasters if this happens a.k.a more rockwork, more theming immersion and more photo opportunities. With The Smiler have suggested to Towers maybe retheming it into Stranger Things theme? Maybe transform it into an indoor coaster or both outside & indoor coaster? Have a story like your going through portals into the upside down & facing creatures that Vecna has created? With maybe the Mind Flayer as the spider thing at centre of coaster? Be quite epic addition that? Hoping to try & visit this resort this year since visiting Thorpe Park, actually hoping to visit more Merlin Attractions throughout this year. Would like to get back on Rita, Try Wickerman, see Nemesis in person, aswell ride and experience other new rides & additions around resort that have been added since last visit at least 10 or something years ago? As last time I visited resort was when The Flume was there. But nice vlog, really enjoyed & look forward to the next. Cheers. 😀👍
i really appreciate the mention of the skyliner and accessibility, i use a wheelchair and the state of the skyliner is very worrying. thank you for the update though because that now means i can postpone my trip and not struggle around the park:)

Just got back from a day at towers. Luckily it’s only a 20 min drive from my house. Had a good day with low queue times. Nemesis reborn was on a 5 minute queue all day. The longest queue time was the usual thirteen and Wickerman. Both topped out at about 40 minutes at peak times but stayed at about 20 minutes on average. X sector seriously needs a revamp. Can’t believe how sad oblivions queue looks now. Hasn’t changed since I first went on it when I was a kid. Galactica needs a serious re theme too. Looks cheap and tacky. Finally, Rita is getting unbearably uncomfortable now. Definitely needs new seats and restraints. On a more positive note, certain areas like gloomy woods look really good and I do love the curse of Alton mannor. Thought the change from duel was great. Hopefully we get some major changes soon as Alton Towers is a great park.
The re-paint and refurb has really got me excited for Thorpe Park this year, if they've done the same as Towers this year TP will look brand new!

While I agree that a couple of land trains would be a good temporary alternative to the sky ride, if it was a last minute discovery of an issue that forced it to stay closed in 2024, it's not like they could just pop round to the local land train dealership and pick up a couple. Right?
The track for the attractions don't just need a jet wash, they need a fresh repaint of their colours because there can still be brown rust on it such as the smiler

Hoping my 4 year old will be tall enough it's his favourite ride he's been going on it since he was almost 3, strange how they changed it and nothing has changed on the ride 🤔

Park seems to have a little bit more excitement than normal, maybe it’s the freshen up they’ve done but we had a blast! Told my partner we’d end up of your vlog one day 😂
Hi Shawn - do you run your video through stabilisation software during edit? I only ask as I also use the ZV1-M2 and my footage is nowhere near as stable! It’s actually pretty awful…
It took some time to play around with the settings but this is just through the camera without adding anything in the edit!
When Filming in 1080P the in camera stabilization is quite good. 4K is horrible. Also using 50 frames helps. Also using a shutterspeed of at least 100 but preferably 200 helps reducing the microjitter. In low light 25 frames and 1/80 shutter works ok. Just don’t use 4K when walking. On my channel I use ZV-E1, ZV-1M2 and DJI Pocket 3 / Action4 combo.

I have not been to alton towers in many years, and only one ive been too is Blackpool - But planning to goto alton towers in May, hopefully it will be lots of fun. When i got my 2 rides on Saturday on nemesis i know that end helix is extremely rattley but not uncomfortable however the rest of the track is alot smooth especially the transition from the zero g roll to the over bank
