My love of nature and human behaviour is why i am drawn to both of them. The way Loui curiously explores peoples alternative beliefs and how he constructs the interactions for us viewers is fascinating..
He’s essentially become what Bob Holness was to university students in the 90’s. Except Bob Holness never had a rap that went “my money don’t jiggle jiggle, it folds”
I love Louis became he doesn't judge people, that's what makes him so great when he does his documentarys, he's not here to tell them that they're doing things wrong he just trying to understand them.
He looks at things objectively, allowing the viewer to come to their own conclusions with all the facts at hand. Too many journalists these days go in with a bias mindset, and twist things to push their opinions on the viewer, and it's a disgrace to journalism. Even when Louis interviews people clearly in the wrong, who do things he clearly finds distasteful, he allows them to give their side, and asks unbiased questions. That's why he's so good. It's far more interesting to see into the minds of these people, see how they think, and why they do the things they do. It's a perspective that you can't get when you're pushing your views to the forefront.
There was in one documentary when he went and stayed at brothels in the US and the a few of the women there who had experienced really abusive relationships really fell for Louis and I'll never forget how one of them said how lucky the woman was who was with Louis,it was kind of sad to think that she did not think she could get a man as kind and sweet hearted as Louis was.I think they felt very attached to him
I watched that for a 2nd time the other day. One girl was rude to him at first because she was so cynical and didn't trust the persona he showed was real, then she realised he was actually real and sought him out and was very real with him. I'm glad she got to meet him so she knew there were good guys who wouldn't pay for sex or shoot her in the head.
Louis has an incredible sense of empathy for everyone he meets regardless of who they are. Being able to put himself in their shoes and mirror their emotions.
i love his comedy because he can be serious but yet funny, which means alot in the world of today because he can get important things into the young minds of today.
@CrisisofConsciousness You were asking for examples but the guy doesn't need to give examples. He said he CAN GET IMPORTANT THINGS which covers pretty much all of that anyways.
@Hairy Chinese Kid considering how he has slammed BBC news on how they gave information before etc I would say you should rewatch. He has a team that uses the news as a tool but not as the deciding factor for information.
Two exceptional interviewers facing off against each other. But Louis's timid nonconfrontational style allows him to ask such confrontational questions but that no longer seem this way. He gets answers no other person would get. It's exceptional.
I much prefer British interview shows. The interviewers allow the conversations to go where they want to, they allow the guests to speak without infuriating. I would recommend Grahm Norton as well, it’s more light hearted as well. These comedians do a great job interviewing without having to get kitschy. The only comparable US show I can think of is Hot Ones.
By the end of the video, the way that Louis expresses that he, as a journalist, has a duty of care to provide HIS account of the events he's experienced, is nothing short of admirable.
Truly a great man. He has the ability to remain objective, something so rare these days. If there where more journalists like him, rather than people feeding us news and information twisted to suit their own agenda, the world would be a better place. He allows these people to give their own story and thoughts, even the ones who are just terrible people, allowing us to get an idea why they do the things they do.
