    I totally sewed white stripes onto my motocross clothes like Street Hawk, did urban motocross riding up stairwells and off loading docks, took a loading ramp like a tabletop then hopped a concrete barrier. Zoomed passed a bunch of brunch hipsters. Was listening to Tangerine Dream in the helmet too, that old school "Berlin School" synth stuff. I hear it was a popular show in Germany for years. I wonder if sewing white stipes has a significance in European grandmasters, I don't want to get a lawsuit by Großmeister Grundle.

    1:42 might be low sometime, but it’s quality people tuning in.. and ya, Alex does a more modern and applicable version than the grandmasters.. I am cool with GARY LAM being one though.

    Please could you guys talk a bit about the HungarianWTO? I am sooooo interested in Alex's opinion on this topic! Just a few minute conversation about it...it doesn't have to be too long!

    9:23 Ok so with that logic? Imagine trying to take over a country or win a street fight by being TITO ORTIZ? He has rounds to rest.(takes a break) he has a referee. (Safety fight) and there are rules? (Again not a good judge of combat skills) not to mention. If an army only consists of tough guys? And we have no knowledgeable people to lead? See my point? We need both. We need tough guys to fight when bullies back us down. And we need GENERALS and GRANDMASTERS to teach us.

    I think a big issue with Wing Chun people not evolving with modern times is they would rather train to be better at Wing Chun than train to be a better fighter. I had a few friends that were Wing Chun guys from different schools and honestly I did not really enjoy training with them because they talk too much about their Sifu or how their WC is better than others. I have a better time using basic Wing Chun when sparring boxers and I actually feel this is more beneficial for my growth in Kung Fu.

      I train wing chun and a shaolin based family system as well as chi gung and tai chi i find it more useful to use or rather test my wing chun fighting other people and other styles than fighting other wing chun people

      You said that well.. it’s one thing to impress another wing chun guy.. but are we being honest with ourselves about actual street combat and it’s risks associated.. maybe not to a degree. Some are certainly, but others,, they just wanna have the best BONG SAO or whatever

    7:07 got a serious opinion on that one.. as far as what’s better, a tough teacher or a knowledgeable one? The knowledgeable one is better n here’s why.. put those guys up against each other n watch the tough one get outnumbered or killed sly. Use war for an example. If it’s the tough guy against the knowledgeable guy? Knowledgeable guy wins, because he can train dozens of people better than the egotistical show off stone cold killer teacher could ever be.

    2:45 I’m so disgusted with JKD dude. They ignore fundamentals? They don’t study? They look delusional to me? Wing chun guys too sometimes. All that snobbery. That’s why I come here

    Good to listen to this as just a clip. Hearing this again. "Great master" and "grandmaster". I just saw a thing the other day of a guy earning his yellows from Kernspecht. They were very clear to make the distinction between "Greatmaster and "grandmaster". I thought it was an interesting thing to something that previously raised my eyebrows when I was first seeing it.

    This was fun to watch. Is it safe to say that the yellow (it's not gold) stripes were a clever marketing thing by Leung Ting? Who invented this in the first place? I remember back in the 90ies it was only Leung Ting and Sifu Kernspecht, even Emin Boztepe and a bit later Salih Avci wore red stripes back then.

    German dude - if this was a dispute over Sauerkraut & Leberkaese, I'd get it...but seriously Hong Kong Fuey? Get a Bratwurst & Pretzel and calm down already. Jawohl!

    I agree with your comments on the relevance of belts but are you seriolusly saying that someone who cannot speak chinese can not be a golod martial artist. Also you were complaining about politics in kung fu the other week and yet you continue to be political also if you are going to call out ego you might want to consider the fact that you refer to yourself as a kung fu genius ...just an observation..

    • @TheKungFuGenius
      @TheKungFuGenius  3 роки тому

      Didn’t say that people who don’t speak Chinese can’t be a good martial artist - my grandmaster rants is specifically aimed at Europeans from the WT. My nickname is the KFG because of an article in the Hong Kong press and is purely ironic and sarcastic (I’ve addressed it on other episodes). I’m sorry you felt triggered by this video, it’s a clip from a longer episode and the context seems to have evaded you.

      @@TheKungFuGenius that very possible 🙂 and i did not feel triggered at all did not reply out of feeling any offence or anger i just feel that wing chun is becoming so political that other styles are just laughing at it i have practiced a shaolin based family style for over 30 years and wing chun for 15 years so a relative beginner in wing chun also practice tai chi and chi gung but i think as martial artists we should not be concerning ourselves with the bullshite and we should be cultuvating our martial selves if i am making any sense..i do watch your channel and respect you as a fellow martial artist..was just being part of the conversation and communicating an observation but also hear what you said in your respo se to me 🙏
