I believe the Regia is more of a heavy fingering/sport weight so you might need to go down in stitch count to accommodate the thickness.

I would believe that! If I use this yarn again I'll know for the future!

I had the same coughing experience while knitting with De Rerum Natura Ulysse yarn. I wore a mask too. But now that the sweater is finished, I can wear it with absolutely no problem. It’s one of my favourite yarns.

Oh thanks for sharing! I hadn't heard of others having that experience, so thanks for letting me know I'm not the only one! I hope the mask helped! Same with me and the juniper moon farms merino - wearing the sweater has been totally fine luckily.

Hi Yiqi from the San Francisco Bay Area, Really enjoyed your post this morning.....for as short of a time as you've been knitting, you are a beast! I am impressed by the quality of your knitting as well as the prolific projects you turn out so quickly! I think you found your hobby calling for sure. I love your Lummi sweater, it turned out great. I know you mentioned the name Lummi represented a people from the Nordic region but I wanted to share with you that there is also a native American tribe in Washington by the name of Lummi as well as the Island they live on called Lummi Island. Funny coincidence. Also, your acquisition from Artyarns that is red and yellow colors, I would be surprised if you had enough yarn to make your partner and you each a pair of socks. Normally that yarn is around 430 yards which will do 1 pair and small amount left over. The yarn is ourstanding and will make beautiful very soft socks- what a great deal! Love your vlogcasts, you keep them at a nice fast pace with interesting post-mortems of your projects that I enjoy. Keep your episodes coming!🤩Best, Carrie

Hi Carrie! Aw thank you so much - I've always liked crafts but I'm not sure what it is about knitting, I've gotten so into it! I really do feel like I've found a calling haha 😂 And thanks for sharing that! It's cool to find similar sounding words in different languages/culture.
With the sock yarn - haha, that's a good point that it would be ambitious to make two pairs of adult sized socks from it. The set does have a 100g full skein plus 50 g mini skein for a contrast color included - for socks for me, I can get away with using 50 g of the main color if I do a contrast cuff, heel, and toe with a different color, but my partner definitely has bigger feet so that same amount wouldn't work for him, unless I made shortie socks. Ah well, at least I got two sock sets! Glad to hear you enjoy that yarn and I'm excited to try it!!

Wonderful podcast full of beautiful inspiration! Going to go add a few projects to my Rav queue :) Regarding picking up stitches for your neck band of your Slipover, if your row gauge is bigger then the patterns you will have less stitches available for pick up. Don’t worry too much about the number as long as the band lies fairly flat prior to blocking. I would not create two stitches in one, if you have to increase due to puckering, do it as evenly as you can :) I do love the Fish Lips heel too, but my instep is high. I add a mini gusset ( about 5 extra stitches each side for me and 8 for hubby) prior to starting the FLK heel, but of course you do have to resolve those stitches back down. I also need to try some other heels 😊 Have a great day 💓

Thanks so much Tracey and I'm glad that you found a couple projects to add to your queue! Ah that makes sense that row gauge may affect it - I never check row gauge either haha. Aw thank you! And wow that video is so helpful, thanks so much for suggesting it! It makes so much sense to measure your row gauge and stitch gauge to figure out the pick up rate yourself instead of trying to always following what the designer says. I watched a couple of other technique videos about picking up stitches as well and I feel like this will totally change my stitch pickup game haha. Thank you!!

I love the colour you used for the Lumme, I've really been craving that sort of a dark rusty red. Also interesting to hear your thoughts on various sock heels. I started out knitting German short row heels, but I had to begrudgingly admit that the heel, flap, and gusset heels just fit better, even on my extremely flat feet.

I also really enjoy the heel flap and gusset though!!

Love your Lume sweater, it's gorgeous. Your mohair project also looks great. What a coincidence that I am also struggling with gauge for a Cumulus tee... I had some fingering weight yarn I had purchased to make the Talvinen sweater by Caitlin Hunter, but the yarn did not work well for fair isle. In any case, I watched to make the Cumulus sweater with it, but my stitches were way too loose and I couldn't get more than 24 stitches per 10 cm... I sometimes have sore wrists (my dog is strong puller) and there was no way I was going to knit an entire sweater on tiny needles, so I decided to put that aside and get back to it later. So I am making the Sycamore arm warmers by Marie Wallin. For the Talvinen, I watched with some Knit Picks Palette yarn, and it works wonderfully for stranded colourwork, so I intend to order yarn for this soon.

I couldn't even tell until you said what it was! I finished the Lumme sweater myself recently, but I'm going to pull it all out. Row gauge was *really* off, but I made the wrong size for myself completely. I should have done a size 3/4 for mine. Love the colours you chose. I did a sweet caramel brown (MC), cream, and eucalyptus blue for the colourwork. I love the Gilliat yarn so much, I really want it to fit the best. ♥
I can't use mohair myself due to allergies and instead I've used suri alpaca when I really want that fluff. You could also try using an alpalca fingering or DK to get that halo. Isager might work well for that, but I haven't swatched it myself yet.

@@tangerineknits I've heard a lot about CaMaRose Midnatssol recently and saw some in store. Very soft and comparable to mohair really. Plenty of colours. I hope to make something from it soon. I saw "Autumn and Indigo" Suri Silk at my local shop here in Toronto (it's an American small biz in Washington) and the colours were lovely and muted. I believe the price point of the CaMaRose was *much* more accessible though. Campfiber Yarns also hand dyes some of the most LOVELIEST colours on Suri and will even take custom orders. Her 'pressed flowers' colourway is probably one of the most popular among others.
I've already undone all the cast offs from the sweater and that seems like the hardest part. Just wanted to say I've really been enjoying your videos recently. ♥ Your voice is rather nice to listen to while knitting or writing in my garden journal. :) Subbed for sure!

Have a look at the yardages to see if you could ! Or a Lento sweater with brushed alpaca or a strand of lace alpaca, would be nice for the climate you are in, as very airy gauge. That's awesome! I didn't knit yet while I lived in Oakland so I hadn't gotten to check out the yarn stores, but that's great that they have some good ones!
Haha, it really is a slightly odd pattern name 😂Reddit convinced me to check it out because I found it intriguing as well! I've been interested in trying out different sock / heel construction techniques!
Aww thanks for asking! I actually don't have an instagram account, but I'm considering making one for knitting! I'll keep y'all posted if I do!

I bet you need a 60 or even 56 stitch sock! I cut back on my stitches for my socks and they fit MUCH better! (you’ve probably already figured this out🤦🏼‍♀️)

Ooh you know that's never actually occurred to me! I've used fewer stitches when following a lace sock pattern because the lace gauge is larger than stockinette, but I might also be able to get away with fewer stitches for vanilla socks too.

I’ve knitted the same vest and I couldn’t get the same amount of stitches as it says in pattern either. For the armhole I got about 15sts less and they still turned out a bit too big…

Oh interesting to hear it's not just me! Someone recently suggested to me a Suzanne Bryant video about picking up stitches that was saying that you can measure your own row gauge and calculate the pick up rate, instead of following what the designer says since your row gauge might be different. That makes so much sense and I'd never thought of that before, but I'm going to try that in the future!
