I love how you both stayed the way you are. You are one of the rare authentic and "normal" people on UA-cam without stupid clickbait or annoying sponsorships. Stay awesome! Been a subscriber for six years now. Lots of love
Wow thank you! We are just us, no other way to be. Six years! Man you have seen some stuff. Lol. I get lots of offers for sponsored videos but they often don't align with the channel. UA-cam is not paying what it once did and it would be nice to get some extra income, but I'll never peddle and random bs to you.
@@Simnettnutrition I highly respect that. There are a lot of channels that feel like commercials and most of the sponsorships have nothing to do with the channels or the content of the videos and it is just not credible. I also like that you don't walk around half naked most of the time like some other fitness UA-camrs do ;) kudos to you
@@Simnettnutrition you’re the real deal. Have y’all considered Patreon? I’m sure there are enough of us who would join yours - especially for like a monthly bonus video like this one!
I agree with this. Authenticity is rare and do feel free to promote something every now and then if it does align. Your viewers realise you have to make a living.
@@Simnettnutrition Love y’all!
Crystal's reactions and laughter made this even more fun.
Her laugh is the best!
@@Simnettnutrition Guys, you have to pull thinner herbs through smaller holes to make the hack work.
@@clivesmith9377 That’s what I was wondering, esp since cilantro has such soft leaves.
Loved this video! Crystal made my day
That was so much fun!! Crystals laugh is so infectious!! ❤❤
Dude, I love y’all’s banter! The laughter was contagious! By the way, when you’re cutting onions, if you put a wet paper towel beside it, the acid goes to the paper towel rather than your eyeballs. Just give it a try next time it works pretty well.
A lot of these hacks are really great. The tofu one with the racket had me rolling though 😆 I would love see more.
Love this video! The onion hack should work better if you have the onion oriented the same way as in the original video.
Yes, that's what I was thinking, you need to come at it from the root or top end, not the sides.
I think you are right! Still worked though and I actually cooked with the onions after and they were so flavourful!
I also think if you slice the onion just a bit so you have a flat edge/side instead of round to start would work better. The hacker went back and forth with the peeler as well using a lighter pressure.
Your guys facial expressions throughout the video made it Super Entertaining!! Fun stuffs 💡🤩🙌
YES, I laughed!! That was so much fun to watch! More food hack testing videos !
Thanks Iona! I'll start collecting some more.
"It's fixing a problem I didn't have." 🤣🤣 The highlight of the video. This is not creating content just to create content guys, this was pure gold. And useful. And fun to watch. Thank you!
You both bring such joy and laughter to us. Definitely something we all need more of.
Thank you! We try. :D
😂 thanks for the laughs! One useful hack is when scooping food out of the food processor, get most of it out then put the lid back on and give it a spin again so the food on the blades spins right off clean and the blade can be pulled out so the spatula can make an easy swipe around the bowl with no blades in the way, and get every last bit
My favorite hack is using my pastry cutter (leftover from pre-vegan days) to mash avocados for guacamole.
"Just worth it to hear you laughing that hard too... "
Aww ..adorable.. that shows your love for crystal..you always wanna see her smile and laugh... that's what I call "true love"...
Absolutely make a part 2, this was very good 😅
Love watching you 2. Your poor eyes. The onions AND the oranges. hahaha
I'd love this to be a regular video you do! So fun. You two have such great chemistry... and, Crystal's laugh, I mean, it's impossible to not smile & laugh along. 💙
BLOODY GREAT IDEA! Make it like first day of every month is HACK TRY OUT DAY or something! Would love that!
Out of all the couples I've seen on UA-cam, you two are the most fun to watch. Such genuine reactions and contagious laughter. I can tell you two have a great relationship and my gf and I love watching your videos. Keep it up!
Love❤these “fun in the kitchen with Derek and Crystal” videos! The most fun since “We’re air-frying everything!”
Tennis-racquet food hack: In The Apartment, Jack Lemon prepares spaghetti for Shirley MacLaine and uses a tennis racquet to strain the spaghetti (and points out that it would also be a way to serve the meatballs). :)
Haha, that's too funny. I'l have to search that clip.
@@Simnettnutrition Great movie, BTW
The entire sweet potato segment was the most wholesome , hilarious & endearing thing you’ve ever posted. I’m definitely going to try that recipe!
I think the onion might peel easier if it was standing upright instead of sideways. You’d get onion “rings.”
This is some good UA-cam! The tofu one was the best and I'm gonna watch it whenever I'm having a down day to cheer me up!
Haha me too! Glad you enjoyed it.
I cannot stop watching Chrystal's reaction to the raquet hack!! Sooooo awesome, hilarious, refreshingly real!!! Spectaular. Very enjoyable vid.
PS - brussels sprouts NOT same as potato lady. BS lady is from PlantYou. Good fun, tho!!
4:20 Don't piss yourself HAHA
Onion hack: Wet a paper towel or cloth and put it between you and the onion when you're chopping. Apparently, the onion releases something that is attracted to moisture, and that's why it makes your eyes water. 🤷♀️
Your reactions and uncontrollable laughter made this video such a lot of fun to watch.
Please continue doing such videos you two, the world needs more of your positive energy
Great video! I’m sure it was a LOT of work to prepare for…especially, the tennis racket washing….much appreciated, Derek. I’m sure it was nice to have Crystal there to laugh with. It was a funny video.
I think the accordion sweet potatoes would be a cool presentation for making dinner for friends. I also can’t wait to try the Brussels! This was awesome. Thanks!!!!
The „let me do it for you“ at the end made me burst out into laughter 😭😂💀
Crystal’s comment “ Herbamere” ! I died laughing. The tennis racket was also classic.
Try the brussell sprout smashing hack on baby potatoes, too. It's awesome! Fun video! I'd love to see more.
OMG, I'm rolling! Crystal laughing at the tennis racquet made me laugh until I cried. So fun!
For chopping onions, try placing a small bowl of water near the chopping board. Whatever it is in onions that makes you cry is attracted to moisture - the surface of your eyes is wet - but if you have a bowl of water nearby, it is attracted to that instead.
I gotta say that was hilarious 🤣
Plantyou (Carleigh Bodrug) has tons of awesome 'scrappy cooking' shorts they are pretty epic 👍🏻
And a little hack for cutting onions - a piece of kitchen towel, wet it and place it on the chopping board so your eyes shouldn't sting 🤞🏻🍀
Rofl! The tennis racket and the tofu was the funniest thing I have seen all week. Should totally turn the clip into a short, lol.
I definitely will!
This was great and just what the doctor ordered! I needed these laughs! Regarding the onion hack - try putting the fork in the root end. The guy in the reel was cutting from the edges where the concentric parts of the onion are, and not r=from one end to the other. I think it will work.
The racket hack is the best one, can keep playing after taking a quick tofu break.
Haha exactly!
My french grandma use to boil in salty water the speghatti squash cut in circle like this..takes just couple of minutes
I think the Brussels sprouts hack is the only one I'm going to try, but I did have a good giggle through the rest of the video! Crystal's laugh is so infectious, I couldn't help laughing along!
Tennis racket was hilarious
Omg, the tofu tennis racket! 😂😂😂. Please do more. These are great! I love your authenticity and laughter!
Surely cleaning the tennis racquet after takes way longer than just cutting tofu normally then cleaning a knife would take? I am kind of obsessed with ridiculous "hacks" online though.
Exactly! Me too. Remember all the ramen noodle stuff? That was wild. Ppl were fixing everything with it.
Crystal's laugh is contagious. Thank you for sharing these hacks. I've always wanted to know if that peeled potato works. I love Brussel sprouts. This was a fun video. I always enjoy your videos.
Derek’s poor eyes after the onion! 🥹😂
Great video! I began my day by hitting myself in the face during an over zealous hammer curl (I blame the ridiculously long Bowflex dumbbells) but this definitely brightens up my day🙂
Haha I just saw a video online where someone did that very thing but it was on a bicep curl machine. It think they thought they had weight on there but didn't. Smash, right to the face. Hope you're alright! The day can only get better from here.
So much fun. I always do the potato one, don’t take advice from someone wearing a fuzzy all in one!! 😂 I love the sprout one too. I just bought that girls cookbook. It’s called Plantyou. It’s great. WFPB simple recipes.
Bought some frozen brussel sprouts and they turned out mushy…tempted to through the rest away, but I didn’t…will definitely try this.
This was great. Some I can definitely use. DO MORE!
This was absolutely hilarious 😂In the 1st hack video her potato looked quite waxy and solid and yours was more crumbly (idk the correct english terminology here), so I think the type of potato might make a difference as well.
Or that they put theirs in ice water first.
Did anyone else hear Phoebe from Friedns? "My eyes. MY EYES!" 🤣🤣🤣
Great video. I laughed so hard.
So entertaining! I watched the tennis racquet bit twice. Thank you so much!
The tennis racquet one had me crystal with laughter. Thank you. ❤️❤️❤️
Other easy onion hack: sprinkle water on it right when you start slicing so the sulfates react with the water instead of your eyeball water juice causing your eyes to become acidic and burn. -Take it from a chemist in the kitchen ;)
The squash cutting hack! You roll the squash while cutting using a lot less pressure so it's easier...they say🤔
Such a fun video, so much laughter❤😂
What a fabulous idea to cut really thinly to increase the surface area!! It made that sweet potatoe crispy on the surface, and baked really well, delicous!! I love baked veggies. Putting cilantro through a shredder was interesting. I usually use the stems too though. thank you for the fabulous video!! Love it!!!
What a fun video, thanks!
FYI, In 2009, Dawn Wells (Mary Ann from Gilligan's Island) did the same potato peeling trick on the "Idaho Potatoes" UA-cam channel. (Everything old is new again.)
Oh gosh, have to share this since I hadn’t thought of it in years… way back in the late 80s, my friend Connie and our moms went to a fashion show and lunch at the Belle Meade Country Club in Nashville, very hoity-toity. Dawn Wells was the celebrity MC, and naive Connie and I couldn’t figure out why she was acting so strange. Afterwards when we approached to say hello, she was smoking and drinking what l later realized was at least a double-shot of whiskey! Talk about bursting our little girl fan image! hahaha She was very nice, and now I realize how hard it must’ve been to be so typecast and end up MCing a fashion show, but I’ll tell you she was gorgeous in person!
Crystal and the tofu I’m dying, same reaction, also, I’m with her in videos being wayyyy to fast. Some people go so dang fast with it.. it’s actually annoying to watch. I’m really glad you guys don’t do that! There is one UA-cam couple I watch that does videos fast like that too, usually shorts or Instagram ones and I HATE THEM I get so Friggen dizzy cuz how fast it is.. makes me think of games and such and videos where people put a whole sentence up to read and give you 2 seconds to read it. Like bruh, not everyone has lightening speed reading/watching skills lol. Some like to absorb what they are seeing/reading lmfao.
So far, LOVING this video!
I haven't watched your videos in so long since making big changes to my diet, but this one appealed to me because it's a fun one. I love all the laughter and comedy!
You two are soo fun and funny! Thank you!
Thanks guys always a pleasure 😁
HAHA TO THE RACKET
I laughed so hard when you guys did. The tennis racket hack. Who knew. 😂
I really appreciate that you put time codes in the description! This helps me quickly recall the hacks I've just watched and memorized them better.
I found really helpful hacks with greens and grater, usually it takes so long to cut all the stems!
And also I wanna try accordion potatoes and squished brussel sprouts, that looks amazing!
Loved this video. I will definitely try the brussel sprouts one and I even kind of want to go get a badminton racket just to try the tofu one even once. 😂 You may already know this but I was lucky the first time I bought a spaghetti squash it had a baking instructions label on it. The instructions were to poke holes in the squash with a knife and bake it on a baking pan for 1 hour. (it may vary according to the size of the squash). Then cut it down the center lengthwise and scoop out the seeds. It bakes perfectly every time and no wrestling with the tough shell. 🙂
LOL I love the orange squirt in the eye. So Chaplinesque ❤️
I've got the feeling if you filled the grater hole with more coriander stalks it would work better?
Those accordion sweet potatoes look the bomb!
YES! PART 2 PLEASE 😊
Both of your reactions with the tofu racket killed me 😂😂😂
Duuude, I literally had a smile on my face throughout this entire video lmaoo you guys are hilarious! 😂
This was really cute and informative! You two are the cutest couple. Both beautiful inside and out!
Another hack for you guys:
Try setting a small bowl/cup of water next to the cutting board when cutting/chopping onions. It’ll help keep your eyes from tearing up. 👍
“These spaghetti squash strands are too short for my liking!” 😂😂😂😂
Lol! Obliterating the cell walls of the onion made the tears worse 😂
Re: Sweet-potato accordion slice: I think that would work much better if, rather than improvising a jig from chopsticks (which slide around), you made a purpose-built jig that has two sides attached to a base: lay the slice of sweet potato on the base and then slice down to the sides. The sides would not then slip around, and you could hold the jig in place with your other hand. Just a thought.
.
Onion hack: He was slicing *across* the onion, not *along* the onion.
I’m going to make some smashed Brussel sprouts for sure. Those look amazing!
The sweet potato accordian is almost Hasselback baked potatoes.
The tofu hack was hilarious, even though it worked! I was imagining tiny bits of tofu flying all around the kitchen! I agree with you, and I think I will stick to slicing it with a knife. Very enjoyable video and it is always nice to see Crystal!
Thanks for trying out these hacks. I’ve always wondered if they work, now I know 😅
You're welcome. You may have better luck on some of them than us!
I absolutely burst out laughing at 12:05 when she squirted the orange juice in his eye
Haha the tennis racket tofu so funny 😂
I laughed 😂 especially the part with the onion and your eyes
This is amazing hahaha. I think for the onion+peeler you have to go vertically and then it creates those circular shapes! Rather than length wise.
the tofu hack was so funny! definitely my favorite haha
loved it!!!!
Spaghetti squash cooked in the instapot make THE BEST pot liquor ever. I tried it after Chef AJ’s video.
So fun!!!
Love this video!!!
Thank you both! This was fun and informative 😁
That tennis racquet though 😂😂😂
This was so much fun to watch. Thanks so much for this. Loved it.
This was a lot of fun. Please do more. 😃
Such a fun video, love it!
Love your videos! Thanks for sharing!! 😀
This is so funny! Thanks for testing these out guys.
I love you guys! This video was so funny!!
Love this vid. So fun
That was really fun!!!
It is so much fun watching you having a good time. Love the vibe
Thank u! That was fun!!🎉😊
Thank you for that!! You guys are so much fun 😂
this was so fun to watch :) part 2
