Hanapēpē comes to "life" on Fridays at night. There's a "Friday night Art Walk", a good amount of local artists & food vendors + live music (usually), as well as those shops you saw.
Better even during the Summer (O-bon Season) & you catch either the Soto Zen temple (the largest on isle) or the Hanapēpē Hongwanji temple when they host their Obon Festival (Friday-Saturday) 🎎👘🏮🎶

I love love Oahu but when i go back I was thinking of traveling to either Kauai or the Big Island
Both are great choices! Kauai is nice to relax
