@elcucuy138 I read somewhere that it was supposed to be on TCH, however it is nowhere to be found. It's such a good song too... You probably already know, but it's about the çingeneler (Turkish gypsies) of Sulukule in Istanbul, Turkey. I love how he uses the Brazillian/Portuguese term "favelados" to compare them to gypsies.
Sulukule is a small town in Istanbul-Turkey. Goverment sent people other towns because of an urban progress project. Now people of sulukule are not happy. They miss their old days and neighborhood. Their local culture are died because of this fuckin project. Eugene wrote this song for those people. Now there is no Sulukule... Educate thy neighbor my friend...
It's his interpretation of the flamenco technique. You down strum with the thumb, and when you come up you kind of pluck and up strum at the same time with the pointer and middle....at least that's how I perceive it. He uses nylon strings so they're easier to manipulate with a lighter touch. Forgive me if I'm completely wrong though. His strumming technique is truly unique.
I find it ironic he's talking about tearing down history and neighborhoods and villages to construct buildings and such... And outside you can see construction cones because they're doing exactly that
+Rebecca Saad interesting. never really thought about it that way. the studio is downtown so there's always some construction going on. and yes, often over previously historic districts. funny. thanks for checking us out!
