- The UNLV Star of Nevada marching band plays "Save Our City" from Ludo's rock opera 'Broken Bride'
October 25, 2008 at Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas, NV as part of the Bands of America Las Vegas Regional.
The Band is under the Direction of Department of Music Professor Anthony LaBounty with assistance from Graduate Assistants, Katie Jensen and Robert Sanchez.
Music Arrangements by Robert J. Sanchez
Visual Design by Robert J. Sanchez
I love the concept of it all and the music is great, but their lines and form need work.
that would be so cool. I would love to do a Ludo broken bride show. now if only I could get my band director to listen to someone else's opinion other thank his own...
man, I swear, we can match up with any college band talent wise. if we could just add 100 people to the band we would be one of the best bands in America.
I can definitely appreciate the idea of a Broken Bride marching show, this is... to say the least, very poorly executed. This is altered to the point of sounding like a different song.
(commenting on a six year old comment, smooooth, me)
realtalk i didnt think the music part was bad! it was, um... man the marching got rough. a lot.
I wish I was on that colorguard JUST because they did Ludo....
I can't fathom why the colorguard would use swing flags for the majority of the song....and only half tosses when they picked up actual flags....and were not clean at all. Get it together people.
The band sounded good, though.
i manage to march that year, wont say what iwas but the band is getting alot better than before plus they got a new drum instructor, whose also the director of the vegas vanguard, if anyone lives vegas and still wants to march after high school try out for the band, u dont have to go to unlv to march for them and they take walk-ons how cool is that.
give them some credit- it's a marching band performance. they had to up the tempo and shorten it to keep the audience entertained and happy during the football game. of course it doesn't do full justice, it's a rock opera that's suddenly not rock nor opera. but it is an honor either way and kudos to the director for allowing it, and modifying it to work for them!
@howefow Yeah, I forgot. You would think I'd remember... after all, people were clapping, which means they realized we were on the field, plus there were more than 20 people in the stands, which is unheard of at a UNLV football game...lol
@iwilldie0 This was at a game. We don't do competition. But, I think this was recorded before kickoff at rehearsal.... it's been a while, so I don't remember exactly when, but we only go on the field on game day.
its nice to see a band that doesnt park and bark, however, not incredibly impressed, esp the trumpets...decent, but def sound like marching band players. love the idea of the ludo show, def awesome.
This is a very cool, yet I can't help but be distracted by how much better and more awesome it would be if RCC were to perform this in a show. Not sure Gary would go for it, though.
@hollydapple While listening to it for the first time I could hear the lyrics going along with it.
This arrangement was rather well done!
Thanks, man!! I am the trumpet section leader, and we have a lot of pride in what we do. This year we are 100x's better... thanks, again!!
UA-cam "Spammed" this comment, Rob. You may need to put it in again. I clicked on "Not Spam," but I don't know if that fixed it.
drum parts were damn cool. I like how they started rocking out at one point. Was that a 12/8 groove in there? Tough stuff guys! Props
Yeah, I think its much easier to hold those high A's at a fast tempo... otherwise I would STILL be feeling this show.
The colorguard sucks! Which is why this year they were cut from the program and replaced with dancers :]
Yeah, there was some 12/8 in there. . .
Yes, this was as fun to play and march as it looks :D
@leeleewolfisaduck my marching band is doing a broken bride show next season. :D be jealous.
If we performed this for marching band... Can't even begin to think of the awesomeness! WOW!
haha our high school band was supposed to play that this year but we couldnt afford the show
They're not together the whole time but the fact that they did it is still really cool. :)
@brecfhelt this was at the Bands of America competition. UNLV performed in exhibition.
3 people quit middle school band and joined another sport marching band is a sport!!!!
wow to fast guys but you probaly had like a time limet but yeah amazing 5 stars
Thanks, man - one of the more memorable solo's I've played. All thanks to Rob.
dude ludo cover! kick ass. nicely done. props to whoever came up with that idea!
Am i the only one having trouble finding these re-issues in stores near me?
I freaking love Ludo! And marching band! This is heaven! Yeah trumpets!
I'm going to have to talk to my marching band director about this...
this sounds like it would be the intro music for a broken bride film
it would be soo cool if they spelled out Ludo... just saying....
SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Cool
@iwilldie0 They could of still played it at a game.
Towards the end of the first Minute it gets good.
I have had so many dreams about this exact thing!

My God, this is the most amazing thing I've ever seen!!!
After listening to his several times, I can imagine the lyrics along to this. :3
Noice.
That was interesting, to say the least. I had chills. And then my chills had chills. Who got chilly themselves, and then had to eat chili to get rid of their chilliness.
Yes! That's where I'm gonna go when I get older!
