  • The Beretta Cx4 Storm is a pistol-caliber carbine. It is available in two models: one that accepts 92/96 magazines, and one that accepts Px4 series magazines, each available in 9×19mm Parabellum, .40 S&W, .45 ACP, and 9×21mm.
The Cx4 Storm was developed to be used in conjunction with Beretta semi-automatic pistols. For example, the magazines for the Beretta 92FS chambered in 9mm can be used in the Cx4 (also chambered in 9mm). This aids in a smaller loadout - no longer needing to carry separate magazines for the rifle and handgun - and adds redundancy, allowing a person to carry more ammunition without adding weight.

0:43 Whats the purpose of a this hook like thing with 2 horizontal springs on its sides? Its underneath the barrel.
Theres a hole on the bottom of the bolt that looks like the hook could go in the hole, but the hook is pinned, so it cant. Dont know whats going on there either.
UPD its a measure to prevent the bolt from going back when the stock hits the ground while the barrel is up. Without it the bolt would extract the cartridge and chamberd the next one.
The pin in the hook is short enough to clear the outer holes. Inside its free to go up and down in its sloped guide tracks. When the stock hits the ground both bolt and the hook wants to keep going back. The sloped guides make the hook to go up and into the round hole on the bottom of the bolt. Hook travel is limited, so it stops the bolt before it can extract the cartridge.

it's the inertia bolt stop assembly

Thank you! I think i get it now. On exploded scheme the shape of the hook seem to be the same as in the model. So the pin is probably short enough to clear the outer holes and it travels up and down in the inner sloped tracks that guide the hook up if the stock hits the ground while the barrel is up.

I know this video is old, but I've got a potentially dumb part question. What exactly does the "inertial bolt stop" do that located in the front of the lower 0:44? From the name, it sounds like it's a safety feature meant to prevent the bolt from closing unintentionally, but from my gun and the diagram, I can't figure out how exactly it's supposed to work. Anyone know?

Yeah. A problem with blowback operated submachine guns (the military version) is that if you drop the gun on its butt hard enough, the bolt will go back and load a round into the chamber. (If it’s a fixed firing pin model, it would fire that round as well). In the case of an impact to the butt, the hook would also shift backwards and up, and grab the bolt in the hole on its bottom surface and prevent a round from loading into the chamber. It’s a very clever and completely passive safety system.

Interesting. I'll have to take a closer look for that hole in the bolt the next time I clean it.
