  • The Beretta Cx4 Storm is a pistol-caliber carbine. It is available in two models: one that accepts 92/96 magazines, and one that accepts Px4 series magazines, each available in 9×19mm Parabellum, .40 S&W, .45 ACP, and 9×21mm.
The Cx4 Storm was developed to be used in conjunction with Beretta semi-automatic pistols. For example, the magazines for the Beretta 92FS chambered in 9mm can be used in the Cx4 (also chambered in 9mm). This aids in a smaller loadout - no longer needing to carry separate magazines for the rifle and handgun - and adds redundancy, allowing a person to carry more ammunition without adding weight.

Design of mechanism looks simple and reliable. NIce!
It looks like something between single-shot SMG, and pistol, installed in tactical frame (but with long barrel).
Also, i want to say there's not so many rifles chambered for pistol ammo - so this weapon is very interesting.

I'm always most curious about the method used for disconnecting the trigger in semi auto's, it's often very poorly illustrated in this type of animation, but not in this case though. Interesting too see how the hammer moves fore and aft as it interacts with the disconnector in the CX4.

What’s the purpose of the spring loaded hook at the front of the lower receiver (first visible at 0:30)? From what I can tell, it doesn’t interact with anything during the firing cycle.

That looks to me like the mechanism that holds the takedown pin in place. The takedown pin is that vaguely magazine release shaped thing just behind the hook you mentioned.

@@sormflaith I own one of these rifles, and the takedown pin has its own spring detent. It does not interact at all with the hook piece. There is an angled cut on the bottom of the bolt that looks like it could interact with the hook, but the hook stays well below the bolt.
After typing that, I just realized maybe the hook could be a drop safety. This is more of an issue with open bolt submachine guns, but it can be possible for the bolt to move back far enough to pick up a round but not far enough to catch on the sear, causing a round to be chambered and accidentally fire. Perhaps if the rifle is dropped on its stock, the hook’s inertia causes it to move in such a way as to catch the bolt before it could move far enough to chamber a round.

@@mrb692 Thanks for the clarification. I've never taken one of these apart so I was just guessing based on what little I did know about the internals of this rifle.
