Fun fact: The word that means "taste" in Standard German ("schmecken") means "smell" in Swiss German (and other Alemannic) dialects. I watched a video about a guy who worked in Chernobyl or at least visited the site. I recall he said something about the air having a metallic flavor.
There are many many things that have a "taste" among it's known properties that really really shouldn't. Early Chemists tasted everything.
In order for something to have a taste, it needs to be an organic molecule. Uranium is not an organic molecule, so it does not have a taste. If you taste a chunk of uranium, any taste you perceive is likely due to contamination on its surface
You can eat uranium and be fine actually. Uranium oxide is insoluble in water and resistant to stomach acid so it just goes right through and isnt absorbed by your body. Doesnt mean that it deals no damage, but it wouldnt be as bad as youd think

Can be tasted and was done in the past (USA) by a scientist. Uranium is not soluble in water or hcl so trying it should not be too bad

TBF, since someone did some testing with deuterium and tritium water (there's at least one video on UA-cam where some madlad did some double-blind taste tests for science with them and it was apparently expensive) I could see a quick lick having a weird, unexpected flavor. Granted, the odds of weird tongue cancer would probably skyrocket with the attempt, but still lol
CodysLab made heavy water and tasted a little bit. I think he said it was very faintly sweet. Not sure if the video is still up. A lot of his older stuff got yeeted by UA-cam.
@@bagel_deficient Not sure if that's the same one I saw or not, I just remember maybe a year or two ago at most some video where someone used eye droppers with both deuterium water and tritium water onto people's tongues and IIRC the deuterium taste was different due to atomic stuff but I don't think the tritium was said to be noticeably different from regular water.
