Thank You so much for posting this video !!! My windshield is in need of this treatment !!! I thought it was my wipers !!! But after very close examination, the culprit is the almost invisible water spots, causing very poor visibility, especially at night while driving in the rain !!! Treat the windscreen with caution. Do a spot test in a corner and view the results in different lighting conditions before doing the rest of it.

I used 0000 steel wool on my shower door and that was a mistake. Definitely left micro scratches and swirl marks.
I’m getting a whole house water softener to eliminate the problem at its source.

@@richardstevens5961 We have the best full home water softener including an aerator and we still get them from the well water in our sprinkling system. I've got at least 20 different products sitting inside and outside at my windows. Nothing worked, We had this same problem on our car/van windows in Hawai'i. from the heavy metals in the rain from the volcano. There was a product that was sold at the auto parts store and it DID WORK. However it has been 5 yrs since we left and I don't have the bottle and can't remember the name.
It was only about $12 I guess I am goin to have to pay $28.99 for this. I am doing all my front windows. It drives me NUTS when my windows are not clean. As I have lilies all across my front lawn and out lot next door.

Were you able to get a bottle of this stuff? And if you did how did your windows on your home turn out? I have very difficult (if not impossible) hard city water (heavy with chemicals apparently) spots on my windows where the city water got up and made marks on the windows. Like I wrote before… they are impossible to remove. So I’m really interested to know if you did order this product and if it worked for you? thanks in advance

Interesting. We use to use 3M ultra finishing compound for paint and the buffer on the glass to remove the water spots. It worked like this only you need to keep the speed low and keep moving so you don’t heat up the glass too much. I have a new E300 covered in water spots. I’m going to order this and try it. Thanks!

You should have hit me up dude! For hard water spotting on glass, you can often get away with using a standard detailing compound to remove them. Mainly because it requires actual abrasion to remove much of the mineral deposits and possibly etching in the glass. I tell most people to pick up an affordable DA polisher from harbor freight and switch to a 3 inch backing plate to machine polish the glass to perfection. The other option is to use 0000 steel wool with soapy water on the glass and the spots will come right off. A LAST resort would be to to chemically remove them with hydrofluoric acid, but you have a good chance that the glass will stain. But basically you wouldn’t need to remove the glass to do any of these options, as the steel wool can get around all the edges and cracks and crevices. Hope this info helps others as well!

If you see people commenting about using #0000 steel wool sayign it's OK to use dont listen to them. Not all glass is the same or created equal. It might be fine on one type of glass like side windows but try it on a windw screen and you will wreak it. Same goes for home windows. Only use white or ice blue doodle bug pads. Or a foam or female pad.

I've been watching a few different videos on cleaning stains on windows and wanted to ask for some advice. I have these marks on two of my windows that can only been seen when it's wet. I've tried a variety of different cleaning products and it still shows up. It can't be seen when it's dry, you would think it's perfect but as soon as it gets wet, you can see these marks. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks!
