Your tip at the end of the video with the costum ini folder worked for me! Thank you!
Glad it helped! :D
Thank you for the detailed vid. I was tearing my hair out! Got it now thanks to you!
No problem! :)
YOOOOOO thank you!!! no long video straight to the point.
Np~ :D
New to modding and didn’t realize you need to press play on starfield in the top of vortex lol thanks for the video!
No problem! :)
that last fix helped my problem thanks
That starfield custom ini is a weird one, that also worked for me following what you have shown. I was so out of idea. Thanks for the help.
No problem! And I agree 😂 I couldn’t install mods despite doing everything correct and when I found out someone uploaded their .ini I knew I had to try it and there you go! It worked
Always good stuff
Thanks as always! :)
The .ini fix you showed (replacing the file w/download from Nexus) was my solution.....THANK YOU!!!
No problem :) glad it helped out
Nice video, thanks!
No problem! :)
i did everything in the vid and the mods still don't work.
Same here, been struggling for hours.
Have you tried downloading the .ini file?
@@CaptPanda one of my pet peeves about people in the comments are people who don’t follow instructions and blame it on you lmao
Nah, i did the exact same thing to , not working
Have tried every step by step guide and its not working
I am having an issue where in my games section of vortex Starfield is not showing up. Is there any known reason for this or any fix? It is not hidden and I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling vortex but in total the games section only has 84 games and I see yours has 272.
I installed the richer Vendors Mod in Starfield, but it didnt worked out for me. Could you help me out with that?
If you download SFSE to your steamapps game folder, do you still open the game through vortex? Or do you have to open the game through the SFSE icon within that game folder?
Has to be the SFSE loader, Vortex will just launch base Starfield application, so you have to manually make vortex launch the SFSE loader or launch the loader through the steamapps game folder.
Sorry for the late reply! DatsRandom mentioned everything correctly!
After i added that ini folder my game doesnt work anymore and im very upset.
Are the mods compatible with steam version? I don't know much about the subject
all files I installed have a red x on them and none are loading
WISH THEY WOULD HAVE DID THE TING LIKE SKYRIM HOW U DOWNLOADED MODS FOR FALLOUT 4 TOO LIKE I DO EVERYTHING THAT TOLED WITH THE FOLDER AND IDK WHAT IM DOING WRONG
The modding scene is very fresh as of now so we need to be patient till then
Nothing pops up in the ini file after its made
wait before i put this in do i need to make the starfield ini in my steam folder for it to work with vortex? because with vortex i cant seem to install any mods at all what am i missing?
Hey man! Like what I mentioned in the video your StarfieldCustom.ini should be in your Documents/My Games/ Starfield folder
oh mines getting edited to StarfieldCustom whenever i click save as how do i get it to save as ini i saw that my Starfieldpref is also just pref does that just depend on the pc?
@@CaptPanda
I can`t use Vortex. I want to instal them manually. I have seen several turorials and every one of them have different informations on how to install mods.
Best modding manager is MO2 (Mod Organizer 2) if it supports Starfield. From what I last heard, it's currently in BETA.
I have never installed a mod before. Trying to load the more ownable Ships mod for Starfield. I can't figure it out. I don't understand anything after navigate to your AppData/Local/starfield folder. Please help me! I'm clueless!
Hey! Would love to help but I do not recall me stating going to AppData
That's in the mod's instructions.@@CaptPanda
The mods do not work, I installed a mod to replace the mantis set directly in the my games folder
Hey~! It would be worth checking it out again like redoing the process and making sure. Because it's suppose to work. I am not sure how different the process is with Gamepass version but yeah. Works properly for me (STEAM). if you did everything right, I suggest trying the "FIX" I have in this video. Just skip to the timeline
As much as I hate to admit it, I need help. Before the last update, I had everything working quite well. After the update, it stopped working. I went to the Nexus and got the new SFSE file and installed it. Now the game starts to load and stops right after the initial text is displayed.
My initial thought is to just do a fresh install of the game and start the process over but I am hoping for a better idea. I never had this trouble with Skyrim or any of the Fallout games.
Usually when games update, there will be an updated version of each mod. You might need to check regarding that.
@@CaptPanda Yep, you are correct. I did that and everything is good now.
OK, I get the fact that one has to make an ini file and insert some code, one can get by simply copy pasting. Into document.game's, starfied directory. Then one download's, install vortex. Vortex requries the data as to exactly where it's suppose to install the particular mod. Using steam, it's generall a mod folder inside the game name directory. In which I've done previous numerious time with no issue.
However this is my first bethesda game and apparently they don't provide a particual directory inside the actual game name directory.
Going out on a limb, do I just choose using steam, the game name starfield directory, make one inside, or is there one I'm just not finding already in the game name via steam common starfield.
At 74, I'm not the brightest blub in the bunch, but then I'm not the dimest.
you are not real
Hey! Thanks for the comment and all you need to do is direct your starfield in vortex to the root folder of your game (where the starfield.exe is located at) and that should do the trick
@@CaptPanda If and when on the rare occasion's that Vortex is unable to find the correct directory and or file withing the directory. Your correct in pointing it to the Game's Directory with the game's exe with in it. The issue I seem to be having available mods that require placeing them in the document, my game, game name directory. When there mandate to do for other mod's in the steam, appdata, common, game name directory. Some of the mod's since the advent of the xbox'er's being able to do what they can now do. And not describing a particual mod is for that of xbox player's and not just PC, steam player's. Those who have placed mod's for PC's for year's have done it correctly. There is a sudden new individual's who when playing on a console their whole life, where as they have never made a mod, are now making mod's, but don't alway's state as the more experience pc modder's who for year's have been making mods for pc. With my limited knowledge, I can alter a mods. ini file or txt file thus creating a mod simular to the original, but then it's not the original and can cause issue's to other's who think it is. I believe I've stated, if not I'll do it agaain. I've only had issue's since the advent of xbox'er's and their ability to place mod's, and don't follow Nexus rule's. Some do, and some don't. That's seem to be my issue. I'm old, but know how to follow direction's to the "T". But when the direction's call for one to be more knowledgeable than a normal gammer. More in line with one being a pc geek. I've got issue's.
how do I create a new txt file? I have a brand new 2023 MSI 4070 laptop and it doesnt have any ability to make a new text file?
You have to press right click then hover to “new” and choose text document .txt
But make sure to delete the .txt and replace if with .ini
yeah I dont have that option only word document@@CaptPanda
my starfield ini dosent change to a configuaration settings type
mine didnt either so I opened the StarfieldPrefs file deleted all the info copied the Archive info and saved as the StarfieldCustom
Playing on window ten, it work's, On 11, click on your desktop, and make the INI file. Remeber to delete the .txt. Once done drag to doc, game starield and drop inside.
I downloaded the xbox version of the game since i already bought it for xbox before building my pc which i now play on. Is this version of starfield modable??? If so, is it all the same or do i need to do things differently?
I wish someone would answer your question!!
@@camcooolback4115 me too! :(
Not working on my gamepass version of starfield.. the default FOV is making me sick I can't play.
I use all but Untarnished UI
Loved modding Starfield until this year. They made it a pain with all the newer mods requiring the plugins.txt file. I just stopped playing the game and went to cyberpunk. Hopefully the newer mods in Starfield will stop with the plugins.txt at some point. Idk why they did this. So much easier with the custom Starfield.ini
With there being different device's meaning a PC, an Xbox version on PC etc. Vortes is having issue's installing the various mod's needing other mod's designed for a PC for instance, when installing them for the Xbox version and visa versa. Read some of the suggested direction's on how exactly to adhere to or the mod won't work and or cause issue's. One has to be pretty much a PC GEEK. And then there those mod's submitted that don't have suggested direction's but should. Nexus and the use of Vortex prior to the advent of xbox player having their new ability to mod games on a pc, then use them on their xbox. And now, it's considerable safe assuming one KNOW'S which directory they are mandated to install various mod. Do it manually! Having multiple choice's of where to insert any one particular mod versus a another is assinine.
The how too's content provider's offer in their video's don't alway's assit one in their endevor to install mod's. When they show how easy it is, and don't state which device their installing them on.
I'm some 74 year's old and have been playing video game's, and using Nexus and or Steam which have different installer's to obtain various quality of play mod's. And in the 12 year's I've been playing, this is my first and assumably last Bethesda game. I've never seen such a convoluted mess, when it come's to installing mod's, as I've done envolving this game. And it's only been since xbox device's are now able to both download or upload mod's to Nexus. And it's obvious, the new xboxer's converted to pc modder's don't know what their doing.
How are people even making txt files
Still no mods loading for me, ive done every step :(
Even the .ini download setup? :/ Are you using xbox version as well?
@CaptPanda downloaded the ini folder, replaced it. I'm on pc. Might just uninstall vortex and all the mods and try again.
My minds were working before I followed this guide. Now they're all completely fucked.
i tried some star wars mods but none of them worked
Have you tried doing the .ini fix?
Yeah
why is my mygames folder in one drive
Hmmm do you use xbox gamepass?
Dude.. just lead with downloading the mod activator if it didn’t work creating it manually.
That’s true but for others it works. It’s an option incase it does not.
Still doesnt work for me :(
Hmmm :/ even with the last help at the end?
WHATS THE HARD WAY?
Manually putting the mods inside the game directory
OH! bsomething = 1! the whole time is was 0 oops
Hahahhaah
Skyrim was abandoned
Never 😂
My mods aren't doing anything... oh well.
Not blaming you..
I just don't know how to make them work
vortex need to pay money... where are the free mods???
not free they asked for payment! stop selling!!!
This game is so bad and boring I wonder how it’s going to be after many many mods are released
It’s gonna be a lot more fun after more mods release
If you think it's bad and boring right now mods won't do a damn thing lmao
From what I've seen, you should have started the video with the last step! I was struggling to get anything to work since last night and yours is the only video that helped. Thanks very much! The replacement .ini is what saved me
hahahaha well, the first few steps works for a lot of people. (I was not one of them) Though, I am glad the video helped you :)
