To enable modding in Starfield (on PC), go to your "Documents\My Games\Starfield" folder and create new file called "StarfieldCustom.ini".
Edit that new file and add the lines:
[Archive]
bInvalidateOlderFiles=1
sResourceDataDirsFinal=
The save the file and exit.

IMPORTANT: When renaming the "New Text Document.txt" to "StarfieldCustoms.ini", if you cannot see the ".txt" or ".ini" part of those file names, go to the top of your Windows Explorer and make sure the box marked "File name extensions" is checked. This let's you see the file extension for known files. As a general rule, I'd recommend always having that checked.
If you're on Windows 11 @ShakeyHandedArtist found a solution for you : "to anyone using windows 11 go to the top of your windows explorer, click view, then at the bottom it should say "show" click that and then find "file name extensions" and click that. then you're good to go :) hope this helped."

I did encounter that issue since my PC swapped to Win11 and i forgot that's not on by default.
Though i appear to still be struggling with getting mods to actually enable, I at least have ruled that issue out.
I cannot find this option, my computer is currently running windows 11, any tips?

@@LastHazzerd if you are playing on the gamepass version or xbox version the starfield scrip extender will not support it and they will not even consider it
Can you do a video on how to mod Starfield as in making our own mods instead of downloading existing mods on Nexus,etc...... ??? How to Edit and or Create .ESP files

I’ve read that proper mod support for pc is coming on the 6th and I also read Xbox mod support is being bought out along side it does that mean Xbox will have mods on the 6th also?

I was playing Fallout NV when I discovered Gopher on UA-cam and I had never heard of modding. I watched his How-To videos for several days and went from only playing straight out of the box vanilla games to modding until my PC was about to burst at the seams! This was 12 years ago. What a wild ride and still going! 😃
I found Gopher because I was looking for Skyrim modding tutorials about 10 years ago now. He's the reason I bought New Vegas

I was a bit more early, because for me it all started with Gopher's LP of Fallout 3, and me starting to mod that game. If I remember well there was not even a really reliable and decent mod manager at that time, so it was all done "by hand". We come a looong way since then, but Gopher was my constant and reliable source of knowledge through all those years... 🙂
Gopher has been an amazing help to me over the years. I love G O H P E R.
Even the whole 12 (TWELVE!) years later after the release of Skyrim, Gopher is still our guide to the modding of Bethesda games. Great job, Gopher!

Omg back to the early days of modding a new Beth single player. It's been a long time a'comin' as someone must have sung once. So excited, I'm so enjoying my first playthrough and already planning others, and now gopher is tutorialising already. You can take the teacher out of the classroom but you can't take it out of his blood.
I remember it like it was yesterday. 15 year old me playing Skyrim then finding gopher on here introducing me to mods. Things were simpler back then, beautiful, and he brings back all those memories

Yeah - Exiting times. Because modders have a really giant palette to mod on (just imagine all those bare planets ready to be filled with stories and interesting locations). I really wonder how this all will turn out the coming months and years...
You were my instructor during my first days at Modder University way back in the Skyrim days and then Fallout 4 ( I ended up running 240+ mods in both )...now here we are, many years later, prepping for another load order...altho I require much less hand holding than I once did, its comforting to know you're here to help if needed...
At one point in playing skurim I had 256 mods installed, not all of them had an esm/esp to activate in my mod manager

Better HUD was actually my very first mod I installed to Starfield two days ago... and because of a recommendation by you from a previous video, and you were right it is a must have mod and is a great improvement of the vanilla HUD. IMO, it's good that you keep it simple and although I've learned a lot I'm not comfortable doing too much and too far into modding.
I find Starfield to be a true return to form for Bethesda; so much is familiar, yet so much feels new
Completely agree. I have a blast with this game now. And I am not even that far in yet...
Im personally enjoying starfield massively however the community response is so weird to me. Everybody seems to either absolutely love the game or despise it with a passion, I havent seen many people saying that its decent or alright.

That movie messed with my head for about two weeks when I saw it as a kid (nobody read the DVD back when we rended it, lol. 'hey, this has a space ship on the cover, it's fine')

Hi. Manage to install Vortex but don't know where to assign the Manual Set Location part. I went to C drive My games and Starfield but only have Data and Save option not the Content folder. Now I'm stuck as I cant find that. You know any solution?

It's weird and exciting to think we're about to see a whole new generation of modders.
First game I ever modded was C&C: Red alert, way back, and the first game I made mods for was C&C: Red Alert 2 + Yuri's Revenge.
left PC gaming and then came back in 2012 shortly after when Skyrim released (11/11/11).
It never ceases to amaze me what mods people make, and I look forward to makeing a few of my own for Skyfield - I mean - Starim, dammit... Starfield.
First time ever modding for me. Never really felt as if I needed them before, and when I was younger I was on 360 so really couldn't do things like this. Excited to change things and personalize the game now that I am into NG+

You're like the Gandalf of Modding!! I don't even have the game but it's nontheless a pleasure to listen to your modding guides on the game. I hope that one day, a modder will fix all the elements I wanted to see in the game. (True landing on the planets, atmospheric flight, a way to travel between two planets with faster engines, etc...) and then, I'll be good to discover Starfield in great conditions. :-)

I remember I discovered you in like 2012 or 2013 gopher and I bought Skyrim as my first Bethesda game. but I wanted to mod the game before I play, but I ended up taking so much time modding the game that i never played it. I learned my lesson now. I'm playing starfield vanilla before I touch mods.😂 I get overwhelmed with mods and keep adding more and more before i feel like im ready to start my playthrough.
@troy1993 Play Skyrim, really. It's old now and I guess you've seen lots of in game videos, but no matter how much you've seen, or how many playthroughs you finish, there's always something to find, that you haven't seen or done before.

@@gkw9882 Oh I have played it already. I ended up playing vanilla skyrim in 2020, during the covid lockdown. Got 100% achievements for it too.

hey guys just a question..i am very new to mod so maybe is silly
i install a mod to double xp. the mod runs fine but when i open the xp.txt file and change the value to another one..dosen`t work, is still double, if i remove that file..is still double.... only if i cancel the mod from vortex it goes back to normal.
yesterday i try a stealth mod and if i change the .txt file the change take places.
not sure why with the xp is not working if i change the value
