When they rescued Bakugo in season 3 Midoriya knew Kirishima needed to be the one to reach him. And here Bakugo knew Ida was the one needed to reach Midoriya
Don't forget, Mina can control the acidity of her acid and produce it in ways that it doesn't melt the things it touches. She can make her acid goop so low in acidity it won't hurt you if she wants. Her acid goop was used to offset the friction of the air in front of them and make them faster while protecting them.
When I binged the second half of this season, this was the episode where I _started_ crying, and didn't stop for more than a few minutes until after the finale
The music playing in the talk between Deku and Bakugou wasn't You Say Run, it was You Can Become A Hero. Which is so fitting since Bakugou is finally saying to his true best friend's face that he recognizes him as stronger and that that's ok, and he's allowed to show weakness, but that goes for Deku too
I'm paraphrasing a lot here, but IIRC there was a thing where the author talked about Bakugo (I don't remember if it was in an interview or something), and how it seemed like he didn't get punished or face consequences for his bullying. Basically, what Horikoshi wanted is that he wanted Bakugo's character development to be the product of self-realization rather than something forced on him by authority figures. If someone in authority -- like, say, All Might or Aizawa -- made Bakugo apologize to Deku, it wouldn't really mean much. He'd do it, but would he really mean it? This way, Bakugo's change is a result of his introspection. He now realizes, on his own, that he was wrong. It doesn't excuse or erase the past, of course, but it allows him to make amends.
@@syd.a.m Yeah, I have heard a variant of that somewhere, I think. And I think it's very important that it was an introspective realization, rather than being pushed onto him.
Oh, I can't wait for you to see Uraraka do her thing. One of my favorite moments in the story. That meta joke worked real well in the manga cause the difference between them was so clashing he looked like he belong in a different manga. One panel I really liked was when Deku was breaking through the ice wall AfO's words were etched on his body, visualizing how in his head he got.
*Class 1-A really showed off their teamwork here. Together, they were able to keep up with One for All, and go toe to toe with it. Granted the goal was never really to fight back, just to escape, but still...* *Although, if I’m being honest, part of me is still kind of scared for 1-A in the long run. Like, yeah, against One for All they put up a great fight, but against All for One, I hope they make it out of this unscathed.*
They went against a tired, weakened deku so saying they could keep up is a stretch. And if they could BARELY keep up with deku in this state, then they aren't gonna come out of fighting all for one unscathed.
Love, LOVE, LOVE this episode. Let's discuss the parallels. First, we have Iida thinking back to when he thought he absolutely had to face the villain before him to the point of even throwing away his own safety. Izuku is playing right into AFO's hands by tiring himself out but he feels like he can't just sit and rest when Shigaraki always knows where he is. Izuku helped Iida with his problem. Now Iida steps up to help him with his. Next up, the Bakugo rescue that happened. Back then, Shoto made the ice ramp as Iida flew through the sky. Izuku had so many bottled up feelings for Bakugo. So many things he wanted to say to him. But he knew Bakugo would see it as a sign of weakness if he reached out to grab his hand. So he took a step back and allowed Kirishima to do it. Now, Shoto makes another ice ramp and Bakugo is the one who has the bottled up feelings inside him. He has so many things he wants to say. So many things he NEEDS to say. But he puts his feelings aside and lets Iida grab Izuku's hand because he's designed for speed. We see Tenya get to reaffirm that helping a child in need is what he does. Meddling in affairs where people might reject your help is what being a hero is all about. But more importantly, Deku needs to take a bath. Kaminari was right. All jokes aside, let's talk about Bakugo's speech. These two have such a complex relationship. From childhood best friends to a strained relationship due to Bakugo feeling inferior, to Bakugo and Izuku reluctantly working together, to Bakugo telling Izuku to stay back when he was captured to his meltdown in their second fight to them being proper rivals and Bakugo helping Deku with his quirks and then jumping in the way to save him without thinking like Izuku did for him in the past. They have such a complex relationship filled with a whirlwind of feelings. But Bakugo was willing to be vulnerable not just in front of Deku, but everything in their class. He swallowed his pride and admitted his weakness. He told Deku that it was okay to rest. That it's okay to have shortcomings because they'll have his back. And he ran up to catch Izuku when he fell. Iida caught Izuku, Bakugo made him feel comfortable enough to finally rest on his shoulder, and now the public has to be convinced that he can stay at the school. Deku thinks he's useless if he can't save people. But now it's time to address an important question. Who saves the heroes when they're in trouble? Side note, I almost forgot the Mineta line. Fun fact, in the manga, people were freaking out because of Mineta saying he fell for Deku. The fandom nearly having a meltdown at bi Mineta was peak chaos.
this comments is great and I must also collaborate the Mineta saga. I remember opening up the tumblr tag to pure pandemonium , it was amazing. Especially because this episode was spread across several chapters so it was this ongoing tale of being excited about one ship and another then getting wacked by Mineta declaring that pfft.
this really is one of my fav episodes of the series, the way they use all the moments that we’ve seen throughout the series to make it so emotional was perfect
It was wonderful to finally see your reaction to such a special and important episode of the series, I loved seeing how moved you were as well as how you understood the deeper significance of what this moment means for Midoriya and Class 1A going forward.
The "You're even drawn differently than the rest of us" line from Bakugo was a pretty funny joke in the manga, Horikoshi started using a bit of a different art style on Deku during his vigilante arc and he looked a lot rougher and grimier. Bakugo broke the 4th wall to make that joke, but it was adapted differently in the anime since the joke no longer really makes sense.
I respect the hell out of these kids. They all had overwhelming responsibility that wasn't even really meant for them, and they never let it break them.
Aside from this being a stellar episode, can you imagine a group of people thinking they should have been trying to hurt each other more? A group disappointed this "fight" was just a "word battle"
I watch this episode over and over again and cry every time. All the characters are really alive... tenya "Ingenium is the one who takes care of lost children." The scene where Kacchan calls "Izuku" for the first time and apologizes is one of the most famous scenes in the series. I look forward to your next reaction.
When I first read this fight, I was worried about how it would be adapted with how short this arc is. But they really nailed it and props to Yamashita Daiki for just this entire arc as Deku's V.A. like....oh my god when I say I cried when his voice breaks over this fight, I mean I CRIED!!!
I love the advanced stage rocket of Class 1-A for a couple reasons. Not only is it cool as hell, but it's also based on the plan Izuku used to save Bakugo back in season 3. And now, the situation is flipped, and it's Izuku who is too stubborn to listen to his classmates and be rescued. It's Deku is the one who needs a friend to hold out a helping hand, and Iida fulfills this role in the same way that Kiroshima did for Bakugo. It's such beautiful and elegant writing.
I can't see how anyone would consider this show mid. Using You Say Run here, to represent Class-1A saving Midoriya, is the perfect combination of hype and narrative build up.
Love this episode, so heart warming and wrenching. However there was no way I couldn't just stare at Jacob's abomination of a shirt just behind the footage lol
My favorite episode of season six. FINALLY! It really shows how much Midoriya has done for each of his classmates and how much he's impacted them. Also this episode solidified Bakugo as a character I like, especially since he opened up about all his feelings and even apologized. I had waited so long for this moment ever since season three and am happy it came true. Also note how Caleb and Jacob didn't react to Bakugo saying Izuku. I guess there was a lot going on in that scene. Many people miss that line.
My favorite part is that their tactics to catch Deku are identical to the tactics they used when rescuing Bakugo back in season 3. Use Todoroki's ice and Iida's engines to propel the group high into the air. And just like Deku knew that Kirishima needed to be the one to reach out to Bakugo, Bakugo knows that Iida needs to be the one to reach out to Deku, pushing aside his own needs and understanding how the team needs to work together. Awesome callbacks, awesome character development, and just cool action on top of it all.
what i also love about this is that while they are fighting him they are stripping off his mask and removing his ability to hide his feelings and true self
Gotta love that when the manga came out, some people were hating on the series because this made Bakugo "Unrelatable" to them now, citing that he was a good character because he was relatable...
This is just sad, these 2 were once well known and loved for their discussion, they're one of the few reaction channel that people prefer the discussion part than the reaction And now, in an episode where Bakugou's character development reached its peak, they had only about 20 minutes worth of discussion, the old Semblance of Sanity could've talk about this episode for a hour Granted this episode was very poorly done because BONES was just as incompetent as ever, but the great writing is still there, what a let down, this is like if a cooking channel starts microwaving food
