I went to Asia for a month long vacation. This trip has changed my thought and thinking of how I wanted to start retire a little early. Good transformation share / lessons learned. For me, I always use the "3+3 rule" at my yearly spring time declutter task. re: If I move that unused item (like a special shovel) 3 times without using it, then it is NOT needed. If I have an item for 3 years without using it, then is is NOT needed as well. It must be sold / donated as well. Sometimes I use a 5 year "idle timer" but most items are max 3 years timer. You know.... When one is born, they have anothing. When one dies, they have nothing. Thus, reduces down to less items (less tools) near the end of one's life is a good thing..... This works for me...
Hi folks . Some of the tips you've been giving are helpful as I've been practicing that myself for years like Journaling, playing my instrument and talking with other people. Most of the times spent on Bible' study and praying 🙏 😊. Greetings from Philippines
Thank you. We just came back from 12 days in Rwanda. Started and ended in Kigali. We went there for the gorillas, but fell in love with the people. We are better humans for spending time there.
I am 56 and almost retired 1 full year. I am getting bored, now I must find ways to fill my time. My husband is also 56 but must work still work for another 6 years. ONE SUGGESTION I HAVE IS REALLY THINK BEFORE YOU TAKE ON A NEW PET. As a gift to myself I got a Yorkie puppy. He is so cute, and I adore him BUT to be honest I didn't think it through as much as I should have. This little dog will likely be the last pet I take on and I will be around 70 before I am pet free. I just hope that I will still have the ability to continue caring for my pets until their end of life.
Thank you for sharing your thoughtful advice. It's important to carefully consider long-term commitments like pets, especially as we plan for the future. Wishing you and your Yorkie many happy moments together!
I retired almost 4 yrs ago, this is the best treat I had done for myself … bar none! Stress level has gone down tremendously, never felt happy 😊 I think I have done & are still doing some of the tips from both of you. Most of the blog I’ve seen are preps prior to retirement, thank you for creating one that’s different than most of them. More power to both of you, God bless 🙏🏼
I just read your guide it makes me very sad that among your advice you are not guiding your listeners to the most important aspect of life which is finding a spiritual connection with your creator. I don't hear any time for couples prayer. Attending a church where you find meaning to a very superficial existence.
Hi. In many of our videos, especially the most recent ones we talk about our spiritual journey. That is important to us and glad you brought it up. As we are aging that is becoming even more important.
I believe planning, structure, and routine are beneficial for all stages of life. It is so easy to get distracted and overwhelmed, then nothing meaningful gets accomplished. We get to the end of the day/week/year and wonder where the time went and what we did with our time.
This lady is the only lady that I have ever seen 60 y/0 and she looks absolutely amazeing she is absolutely beautiful most women at 60 are done .this one incredibly gorgeous❤❤❤❤❤❤
You two defiinitely hit the nail on the head with the Intentional Living segment. Too many people drift through through life and / or retirement with sort of a random approach, and then wonder they are not happy or fulfilled. The intentional approach is the polar opposite. After all, we only get one "go round" in this life so we have to be intentional and make the most of what we've been blessed with !
I retire next week. I have been planning and writing down "what to deal with" when I retire and several things are what you speak of. Yes, the wardrobe is going to be tough for me. The reason though is not that I cannot whittle it down but related to another issue- weight. In the past five years, I have gone through three sizes of clothing, so in effect I have three wardrobes for just me. Sad. Being at my heaviest weight now, I cannot fit into the other two sizes but I do not want to dump the smaller sizes. I have to get to the food plan first! I retired in 2017 from a 31-year teaching career and lost 42 pounds; however when I went back to work the pounds returned. That is the explanation of the five-year size increase. I am looking forward to seeing less of me!
If you don’t talk about finances, how can you not have stress if you haven’t planned well! So many people’s retirement is based on receiving social security and if people haven’t figured out how to have other streams of income they will definitely stress out if they live in the US and never bought a home or fully paid it for by that point.
Thank you @sonja8942. Jody and I do talk about finances privately, but we don’t do any videos on financial advice as we are not qualified. There are so many great channels that do that well. And you are right, many people who retire have not saved enough and have to learn to live on a fixed income. Sometimes lower than when they were working. That is stressful for sure.
We bought a house cash, paid off our cars & credit cards & that’s been a game changer. We have regular exercise times daily, I get to cook fresh healthy meals for dinner everyday. I have set bedtime, my mate not so much. I found my passion as a health advocate, speaking at events at churches and health fairs. We have a budget with flexibility. We started a new real estate investment business. Living 60s
That sounds like a fantastic approach to retirement! Paying off debt and focusing on health and wellness are great steps towards a fulfilling life. It’s wonderful to hear you’ve found your passion and are staying active with a new business venture. Your story is inspiring and shows how a balanced, proactive lifestyle can truly transform retirement. Keep up the great work!
My wife and I have the exact opposite that you have she just turned 60 and I'm 53 I am the higher income earner. So our retirement strategy is a little different than most. I would like to be able to retire by 59 1/2 I think she'll retire in the next 4 to 5 years. We want to move to South Carolina we like to fossil hunt you feel this will help us stay in shape a little in our older age.
Isn't it stressful to make videos like this? Anyway congratulations for the channel you run. I retired at 55 , my idea of retirement is to do what I like without any expectations, money. Spend time with family , travel. Be a minimalist.
Ok….I am 81 and I feel to retire means to give up on life and I determined early that I never would “retire”. I’ve had lots of careers and great jobs and never plan to give up. I have had a business of my own since turning 70…12 years ago. Plus I’m becoming an artist…something I never did when young and having my family ❤️😀. So by taking up drawing and showing my art and by running my pet business I feel young and busy😀. So I would never promote retiring but doing something else and never quit on life…Cheers from an American in Australia ❤️
Your spirit and determination are truly inspiring! 🌟 It’s amazing how you’ve embraced new passions and kept yourself vibrant and engaged through your art and business. It’s clear that you’re living life to the fullest and making the most of every moment. Cheers to your incredible journey and the joy you’re bringing to both yourself and those around you! ❤️🎨🐾
@@iriskazanxhi3438 I started a pet sitting business….🐶They have proven that having a pet lowers blood pressure and adds pure joy to you and to the world 😀…Cheers
Excellent tips! We retired early, so we learned many of these tips through trial and error over the last 20 years. 😅 Now in our early 60s, and we really need to shift more into the simplify phase.
@@RetirementTransformed Thank you! Actually, we made many misjudgments and errors, we didn't plan well, and we didn't focus on projecting the future financial effect of our choices in our 40s. One of us should have worked 2 or 3 more years while our skills were fresh. But about 8 years ago I woke up and started driving our financial bus with an eye toward retirement. Even mid-50s is not too late to make course corrections. I want you to know I am getting a lot of benefit from watching your videos. I often focus on the financial planners' videos, but I realize that your perspective helps me with the vital health and happiness aspects of retirement. Thanks for listening, and you two have a great day!
You seem to both have very good communication with one another which I think can make a big difference - especially when a couple retires. My new routine is doing my morning stretches while listening to UA-cam - instead of dog sitting on the couch listening 😜 Working out very well and makes the time fly by 👍
Greetings from Germany. BTW germans are supposed to retire with age of 67 years or 65 (women 4 years earlier) when the most used social assurance retirement system gives the maximum retirement payment, which may be cutted by 1/4 to 1/2 compared with the last payed monthly full time job income. And a earlier retirement is always bounded by shorter retirement payment so few people retire earlier as they can't afford the loss of monthly income.
We opened a separate joint checking account and put a couple years worth of cash in it. Then I put every bill I could on auto pay. I put all my bills in email and don’t get any bills in the mail. I’m aware of what’s going out but I really don’t stay on top of each bill any longer. This gives me/us so much freedom and comfort each day that I really don’t give the bills any concerns and allows us to concentrate on other things.
My husband and i have been retired for 1 year now at the end of may. After retirement we were still taking care of and spending time with his father and my mother. His father passed away last Sept 2023 and my mother Feb 2024. We are now purging our home of stuff we don't need and doing some much needed renovations. Our house already feels much better and less cluttered. Soon we will be doing some traveling.
I’m sorry for your losses. Jody and I went through that stage where my mom and dad died within a year of each other then her mom was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. It’s a hard time for sure. I love that you’re decluttering and appreciating the lightness in your home. Thanks for sharing this.
The details information in a form of chitchat is great and help me better understand and learn what's going on. Thank you for adding value to my life and for these wonderful videos.❤😊
Great video. As I head toward retirement (Dec 2025), it’s all about simplifying. (1) reducing maintenance on our property so I don’t have to do as much of it when I retire and as I continue to age. From some artificial turf in the backyard (for 20 years I tried to grow grass, in vain) to a heated driveway for winter (I’m in Canada) so I don’t drop dead of a heart attack shovelling snow, to gutter guards etc. I’ve more than halved the annual maintenance time on our property in the last 5 years. (2) decluttering - getting rid of “stuff” we don’t really use anymore. I just gave away an enormous amount of clothes to the Salvation Army - feels good. (3) getting into great physical shape. (4) organizing our finances (everything’s written down, in one place (other than passwords lol). Working on the relationships and hobbies - those are the big ones - but the hobbies include cooking and gardening and general puttering lol

Such a gorgeous couple! We did a home renovation and that forced us to do a major declutter. But there’s always something to give away on an ongoing basis. Impressive you travel ❤ with just a carry-on! That’s amazing.
There are a lot of things I liked in this video, but I loved maximum was that 'change of language' around using the word worry; Instead of saying that what I am worried about x or y or z, say that what I am thinking of or what concerns me is.....lovely stuff guys. Do you have a place to garden to grow veggies and herbs? Good luck.
I don't like the idea of pooling your finances. I don't necessarily want my husband knowing every single item I purchase for myself. I like the independence of having two completely separate savings accounts and two completely separate checking accounts. But that's just what works for us (we were married later in life, so were both used to our independence). Also, I would never, ever discard original photographs, even after they've been scanned. You will find it very difficult to get as good a quality in prints these days. The quality is just not the same.
Everyone has their own preferences and comfort levels when it comes to managing finances. Similarly, preserving original photographs is a valuable practice; their quality and sentimental value often remain unmatched by digital copies. Thanks for sharing your perspective!
You know I will be retiring in 2 1/2 years, and I'm afraid to. I am an Elementary 1st grade teacher and my day is usually full speed. I do work out on the weekends. I just don't know if I could slow down ...at 63 1/2.
I did quite the opposite when I turned 60.. I bought a farm house with lots of land and went to live there on my own.. Next year I'll be 70 So I've decided to sell and move on, but guess What!! I'll be moving to another country (Paraguay) and starting a complety new life but this time I'll be joining a community though everyone has their own house and living independenlty, only socializing When you feel like it.
You make a great point-retirement is a very personal decision, and financial readiness is crucial. It’s important to plan ahead and ensure you’re prepared for the costs. Thanks for sharing your perspective!
This guide is so helpful! Simplifying retirement planning can really make a difference in our peace of mind. Thank you for sharing these actionable tips!
Good talk! Im six months into my tetirement setting new routines. Soon ill be back to working a little, a coupke days a week. The break has been great, it was a good reset, checking health, nutrition and nany of the things you mention here .😊
Thanks for your comment! It’s great to hear that your break has been a positive reset. It sounds like you’re making wonderful strides with new routines and focusing on health and nutrition. Best of luck as you transition back to working a couple of days a week!
Retirement is not a choice because when you are old you will likely be retrenched or replaced by AI. Accept the reality. You need good health and good savings at retirement age. Without either one you will be miserable. Therefore if you only think of this when you are 50, it could be too late.
You make a very valid point. Retirement planning is crucial, and it’s important to prioritize both health and savings to ensure a comfortable and fulfilling retirement. Starting early and being proactive can make a significant difference in achieving financial and personal well-being later in life. Thank you for emphasizing this important reality. 🌟
Love you guys. I have been living alone and ready to retire. I am trying to figure out what my life would be. My daughter wants me to live close to her and my granddaughter. I am trying to figure out if I should sale my house or rent it out. It would add stress for my retirement if I rent out the house.
Keep thinking about it. Unless there are significant reasons to rush this decision, think more and talk to others as well. Always check out the financial effects of this decision. And yes keeping the house and renting it out while might make financial sense, it could create stress too.
First thing I did was sign up for a CrossFit class once I retired at 55. Yes, it is a bit costly, $200 per month as opposed to $40 for a regular gym but it is the BEST investment. Coming off of a desk job I was so out of shape that I knew I needed this right away. I am amazed at how much my body is changing. I have lost weight, about 30 lbs., but better than that my mobility, strength and flexibility have improved so much. I feel so GOOD!
That's fantastic! Investing in your health is always worth it, especially after retirement. It’s inspiring to hear how CrossFit has made such a positive impact on your life. Keep it up!
Hello Jodie&Mark, i understand about reels! As a kid my parents had a parakeet. I get lost in the cockatoo&parrot reels! I love birding when we are out hiking. I will be 60 the end of this year. Watching reels has caused me to slow down.
@@RetirementTransformed just understand how time can fly when watching reels. My fav subject is birds. There are cockateils and parrots doing amusing things, dancing as birds do and talking their humans ears off. To me it is very amusing and i can spend hours watching them, which gets me into trouble for not managing my time more appropriately.
Just started packing in advance. Listing my house in the spring & really downsizing. I thought it would be more emotional, but I’m actually looking forward to releasing the responsibilities of taking care of so much…stuff, land, etc.

Thank you for this lovely comment. It’s comments like this that give us the energy to keep going and creating even more content. You are inspiring with your vision for what you are going to do. Congratulations
This is great. Thanks for sharing
Hi folks . Some of the tips you've been giving are helpful as I've been practicing that myself for years like Journaling, playing my instrument and talking with other people. Most of the times spent on Bible' study and praying 🙏 😊. Greetings from Philippines
Hi in the Philippines! It sounds like you are living a wonderful life.
wow !
Jody looks utterly fabulous.
Best wishes to both of you
Thank you so much 😀
Hi! You are a great couple... I am watching from Tanzania-East Africa. You have blessed me much. Will be following you..... ❤
Thank you. We just came back from 12 days in Rwanda. Started and ended in Kigali. We went there for the gorillas, but fell in love with the people. We are better humans for spending time there.
Brilliant video, folks.
Thank you
I am 56 and almost retired 1 full year.
Yes! It costs as much to board my dog as it costs to fly to visit my daughter -ugh!
Make sure you both know how to log into accounts for banking , bill paying insurance etc.
Yes. We have that taken care of. Thank you
Boot Camp for the men in your daughters life!!!! You da man!!!! Good tip
It’s been fun. Sometimes I take it a bit too far but we enjoy our time together.
At 60 yrs, intended to moderately manage my small dairy farm to keep me busy and improve liquidity.
That's wonderful. Hard work, but sounds like fun and an active life which is important.
Excellent advice & presentation. I took tons of notes. Also love your attentive, caring interaction with each other. Nicely done.🌿
Glad it was helpful!
Awesome couple! Love your advice! God bless to both of you.
Thanks so much!
I retired almost 4 yrs ago, this is the best treat I had done for myself … bar none!
Stress level has gone down tremendously, never felt happy 😊
I think I have done & are still doing some of the tips from both of you.
Most of the blog I’ve seen are preps prior to retirement, thank you for creating one that’s different than most of them.
More power to both of you, God bless 🙏🏼
Thanks for sharing!
Getting together with the big family and friends more regularly is the best tip for your retirement.
Absolutely!
I just read your guide it makes me very sad that among your advice you are not guiding your listeners to the most important aspect of life which is finding a spiritual connection with your creator. I don't hear any time for couples prayer. Attending a church where you find meaning to a very superficial
existence.
Hi. In many of our videos, especially the most recent ones we talk about our spiritual journey. That is important to us and glad you brought it up. As we are aging that is becoming even more important.
What a picture perfect couple.
Like it alot.
Thank you.
I am 74 year 74-year-old Pastor among the Nepali people. I really enjoyed your talk and God bless
Thank you
Hope you are not fraudulently pushing your faith on them as many evangelists do in India.
Thank you for sharing your experience. Declutter is huge project, it takes a lots of time. I should start this sooner.
It's never too late to start to declutter! For many it's an ongoing process.
This was excellent. Thankyou
Glad you enjoyed it!
Priority on my health and also mental health. No more pressure in the morning.
Great.
Both of you are doing the right things because you look fantastic 💯😇👑
Thank you. We appreciate that you are here.
I believe planning, structure, and routine are beneficial for all stages of life. It is so easy to get distracted and overwhelmed, then nothing meaningful gets accomplished. We get to the end of the day/week/year and wonder where the time went and what we did with our time.
Thank you for this. Glad to see your having success.
This lady is the only lady that I have ever seen 60 y/0 and she looks absolutely amazeing she is absolutely beautiful most women at 60 are done .this one incredibly gorgeous❤❤❤❤❤❤
That's so nice of you to say. Thank you
Harsh ageist comment.
@@lindanicholson1954 wtf do you mean?🥶😂👀
My daughter wants me to get on a dating site or something like that. I think that would be a good idea. What do you think?
I think your daughter knows you well enough and may have a good idea and meeting someone is important to you.
Thank you @rockingdoubleE. We appreciate all your comments.
Yes weight is an issue for most of us. Exercise and good nutrition goes a long way to maintaining and even losing weight.
This is too wonderful for words
Such a thoughtful comment. Thank you
We bought a house cash, paid off our cars & credit cards & that’s been a game changer.
Fossil hunt! That's a new one to me and love the idea.
Isn't it stressful to make videos like this? Anyway congratulations for the channel you run. I retired at 55 , my idea of retirement is to do what I like without any expectations, money. Spend time with family , travel. Be a minimalist.
It's not stressful, its takes intention and commitment. It's part of what we do each week. It sounds like you are on the right track.
@@RetirementTransformed thank you so much…I’m filled with gratitude ❤️
May I ask you what type of business did u start at your 70 ies??
@@iriskazanxhi3438 I started and am still doing a pet sitting business…and business is bursting 😀. Thanks
Thank you for your comment. I’m happy you have been having a great retirement.
My new routine is doing my morning stretches while listening to UA-cam - instead of dog sitting on the couch listening 😜 Working out very well and makes the time fly by 👍
Thank you and congratulations on your morning routine.
Think Right, Speak Right, Do Right and Live Right. Simplify Your Life.
Thank you
I am turning 60 this August and I am glad I watched this video. There is enough scope for me to slow down and make life simpler.
Sounds great. We are glad you enjoyed it.
You Guys are 👍 glad I failed you. It is all true for me. I would say hello or talk to 150 people a day now nobody again thanks.😊
Thanks for being here and we are glad you enjoyed our video.
Thank you from Germany.
Thank you two, for giving those valuable tips. Down sizing your belongings is something very important to do. Love from Sri Lanka 🇱🇰 ❤️
Thank you!!! We appreciate your comments!
Thank you for sharing this. It’s a great way to simplify part of your finances.
How did you get to retire at 55? Most middle class people can't and don't.
We both had successful careers. And frankly we are still working about 15-20 hours a week on this business. It keeps us busy and engaged.
thank you so much for sharing. enjoy God bless
Thank you too
As SOLDIERS we never retire , keep moving
Good philosophy
You are so welcome.
WOW. What a great plan. Congratulations and way to go. Your level of success in this phase of life needs a strong plan.
Hey smiling more and be less serious Mr. Your content is great but needs to be more concise. Add some technology to make it more interesting.
Yes I know I need to smoke more! And I am a bit too serious at times. My mom used to say when I was a young boy that I’m 12 going on to 30.
Cool

Such a gorgeous couple! We did a home renovation and that forced us to do a major declutter. But there’s always something to give away on an ongoing basis. Impressive you travel ❤ with just a carry-on! That’s amazing.
Thank you.
I love your chitchat more relatable ❤
Thank you. Some have commented they don’t like it but it’s who we are. If we had our way we would love to do in person.
Don't listen to them, I think you are both fabulous, very easy to listen to and great tips and information 😊
Good luck.
Love it!
No place to grow veggies ….
Yet!
Some very excellent advice here. Thanks
Thank you.
You know I will be retiring in 2 1/2 years, and I'm afraid to. I am an Elementary 1st grade teacher and my day is usually full speed. I do work out on the weekends. I just don't know if I could slow down ...at 63 1/2.
You will manage, just start by accepting this as part of life. You can also get counselling support
Hi. Hopefully you can find some help here on our channel.
Sophia, you don't have to slow down if that's not your nature, but enjoy your life the way is meaningful to you! Peace!
That sounds amazing. I love your ability to pivot like that.
I am 70 with 2 daughters 2 grandchildren 26 and 18. I really like the idea of selfie Saturday!!
Yes. The selfie Saturday is fun!
Retirement is not for everybody. There is no such as magical moment when you dont have savings. How are you going to deal with expenses???
You make a great point-retirement is a very personal decision, and financial readiness is crucial. It’s important to plan ahead and ensure you’re prepared for the costs. Thanks for sharing your perspective!
This guide is so helpful! Simplifying retirement planning can really make a difference in our peace of mind. Thank you for sharing these actionable tips!
Your welcome. We are glad you liked it
My husband is too engrossed in his work,i feel left out
That must be hard.
nice to see stunning beauty...at 59??? 39 maybe.....do they use methylene blue?
We do not use methylene blue. I looked it up and it looks interesting.
How about prayer? That is vital.
Yes. We just released a video about our spiritual journey
I'm grateful😂 for you hoth simplify my life .
You are so welcome. We appreciate you being here.
I have found the reminder function on my i phone helpsme track projects
Do you find it helps you stay on top of things easily?
Keep it up!
God bless you two. I love it.
Thank you
Hello Jodie&Mark, i understand about reels! As a kid my parents had a parakeet. I get lost in the cockatoo&parrot reels! I love birding when we are out hiking. I will be 60 the end of this year. Watching reels has caused me to slow down.
Thank you but I did not fully understand your comment.
Whatever it is, there's a nap for that.😃
Nothing like a good afternoon nap!
Simple life style less burden.
Yes for sure
you both are cute together... Good advice thank you.
Our pleasure!
Just started packing in advance. Listing my house in the spring & really downsizing. I thought it would be more emotional, but I’m actually looking forward to releasing the responsibilities of taking care of so much…stuff, land, etc.
Sounds exciting. Good luck
Such good information!! Thank you!
