Strange thing is, if you plug your ACOUSTIC guitar into this pedal, it sounds EXACTLY like a '59 Les Paul through a Marshall stack, cranked to 11 ! Amazing !
Lol
Jimmy Limo if it’s real it could be worth a fortune lol
Lmaoooooo
Lol!
Lol
wow that version of stairway
I come for the info on the pedals. I stay for the tasteful artistic guitar playing. Bravo!
I actually just came back to this video for this rendition of Stairway.
I bought one last night. single pickups are the way to go. however, me and a bunch of guitar store employees experimented with this micro pedal. we were so blown away to hear a super aggressive pair of active EMG 7 string pickups become tame, gentle, and lush. one guy even said, "i thought you were playing a hollow body arch top"
for me, this pedal shall serve as the ultimate clean tone enhancer. I have been chasing that sound for years; QUEST OVER!
Came for the review, stayed for the show.. awesome!
Came here to check out the pedal, but stayed for the FANTASTIC playing. Well done, sir.
Got that jazz vibe going on toward the end of "Stairway"...freakin love it
Thanks for this exemplary demo: great playing and choice of tunes and phrases to demonstrate the pedal's capabilities. The viewer of this video gets a comprehensive idea of what this pedal can do - such a contrast to the numerous demos on UA-cam where the 'player' can't even get the guitar in tune and/or gives us the same two chords or clunky string bends throughout.
I use the AC-3 in church because I often have to switch from clean or crunch electric to acoustic - for example, maybe the chorus or bridge of a song. These things aren't going to fool anybody when used alone, but when combined with other instruments, the essence of the acoustic comes through. Seems to work best with single coil pickups, but humbuckers are definitely do-able.
Also go into a DI, then into a small powered mixer & 1-15" PA cab. An electric guitar amp won't sound that great.
Question man. What about humbuckers with a high output, but switched to parallel wiring?
***** Don't know about that. All of my guitars are wired stock. The AC-3 has quite a bit of control over the amount of bass and twang. I'd recommend an AC adapter though, as the thing is battery-hungry.
Moore strikes again! Nice treatment of Stairway, too. I would have never thought I would want to hear that tune again.
For acoustic parts within songs, its a great idea
One of the better sounding acoustic simulators!
Can you please do a video with that version of Stairway? It was beautiful and I was devastated when it end - I love just listening to you play
Please make a CD of all the great songs you play in these demo's xD
You do an awesome job showing off these pedals. It sounds about the same as the Boss one.
In my opinion this pedal sounds much better with a humbucker-guitar - and with finger-picking!
Cracks me up people complain that these pedals don't sound exactly like an acoustic guitar, well NO SHIT. They are SIMULATOR pedals that approximate the sound. I think they are very handy and allow you to get by with a reasonably believable A/E tone without having to switch or even bring along an expensive and delicate box acoustic to bars or parties. And as for being nothing more than an E.Q. well they have taken all the work out of finding those settings and you have them as easily accessible pre-sets. Some of these units are better than others and it also depends on your amp/PA rig, guitar strings etc etc. At least from the video's this unit seems to be one of the better sounding ones and least expensive as well. Having said all that, I'll admit in this particular clip the player is not getting as close of an acoustic tone as some of the others so I guess one needs to hear them in person with their own guitar and style to see what works best.
That's right Silver Jag. You wouldn't buy a simulator if you can afford the real deal. Nonetheless, not every1 can afford a decent sounding acoustic guitar, so a simulator does the job, of course when you're playing arenas you'll forget this little box and buy a beautiful Gibson humming bird.
Actually I have two high end Martin's but am still interested in one of these pedals because I'm not taking either Martin to a bar gig or into inclement weather conditions.
Silver Jag Exactly. I'm picturing some drunk sorority girl picking up a nice $2,000 Martin and strumming drunkly "Look at me! I'm a geetar player! Yeeha!" Falls over, smashes guitar.
"Whoops did I do that?"
plus just less gear to lug around. and in a bar no one's gonna care if it sounds like a high end martin or not.
Follow up: Both of the guitar players in my band [I play bass in this band] just bought Fender VG Strats. The A/E 6 & 12 sounds are hard to tell from a real box acoustic when ran through a pickup and amp. They each had 4 guitars on stage prior, single coil electric, H/B electric, 6 & 12 string acoustic. These VG's replace all of them. What is even better is we don't have to organize our set list to accommodate guitar changes, just a twist of a knob does it. Can't believe these guitars were not a bigger success.
Been looking for a acoustic simulator pedal and they all sound the same. The Mooer is the best for the money so far. Electric guitars will never sound like an acoustic guitar but I like the "mixed" sound of electric and piezo sounds together with this particular pedal.
Recently grabbed one of these off ebay for under £30. Tried it out a couple of times and was a bit disappointed at first. It gives a really nice clean tone but nothing I couldn't get with an EQ. However - I spent a whole day trying different guitars (Les Paul and various Strats) and I found the controls (esp: Level and Body) are really really sensitive. I expected the LP to give a closer simulation but it was too over powering and gave out too much bottom end. The Strat (American plus deluxe with lace sensor pups) was much closer, with patience and a lot of tweaking I finally found the sweet spot, not just on one setting but all three, it took backing the guitar off and the bass on the amp (Marshall). No it doesn't sound like an acoustic, but it does sound like an acoustic going through a PA and live is where you really want this pedal to work. Bottom line, don't expect to plug this in and sound like Dylan in a hippy joint in NYC, but for live work without an acoustic take the time to find the sweet spot, it's there..
+Severinate Have you tried it on a hollowbody? I'm thinking this would work really well on my Epi Casino
Does it work for humbuckers
At 4:45 - needs to be coupled to a Mooer Tender Octaver to get that 12-string sound.
Beautiful playing, as always. And the pedal's great too.
This dude is dope. Love these demos
Sounds better than most - perfect for those sundays sounds.
I have it and i was verry happy...2 Guitars in one..fantastic.
Le jeu est superbe la pedale est superbe bravo pour cette demo, j'essaye la mienne ce soir sur ma strat 😊
amazing skills have this guy , very good job showing to us this pedal
Still sounds like an electric to me. Seems a little bit better than the BOSS pedal. In the end, I'm happy with my piezo setup though.
Stairway denied !
Oh wow, much better sounding than i thought it would be.
Nice! I was considering the Boss but now I may get one of these instead. Thanks for the demo guys!!
Who knew stairway was supposed to be a salsa song originally?
You had me at "Stairway to Heaven" :O)Superb guitarist, superb taste !
This is a great little pedal!
Not quite an acoustic sound… yet, I do like the sound it does create. Very nice and clean. Reminds me of the large body Gretch or Epiphone hollow body guitars.
It's going into an electric guitar amp, which colors the sound. I'd like to hear it straight to the board.
Kinda weird, but I think it sounds less like an acoustic guitar, and more like an old recording of an acoustic guitar - on vinyl! Might have to do with the amp-cabinet. Anyways, great demo!
...are very well done. Kudos to the producer. And the guitarist! Very nice.
Gostei muito da performance e arranjos do guitarrista.
It really does change your tone... Cool idea
Not bad. Not an acoustic, but great for adding that flavor into a live mix
Yes,but i like joyo jf-323 more :) Thanks for the video
Led Zep's/Stairway and RHCP's/Snow in the same mix...who would have thought? Sounds awesome!!! For some reason I was anticipating Sting singing the verse. That would have been cool.
cool pedal - but who's the guy playing?! Never ceases to amaze me on the Prymaxe vids, I'd for sure have to buy anything he's released commercially.
One of the best if not the best rendition to Stairway to Heaven.
Best pedal reviews I've ever seen.
You just sold me the pedal !!!!
The pedal sounds pretty good. The playing sounds great! Very confident, yet smooth and versatile. So what I need is a pedal that plays like that.. I think I found one! It's called "Practice." ;-])
What are you rambling about?
I really wanted to hate that tiny pedal but it actually sounds pretty good
Fantastic guitar playing and the effects aren't bad either.
yeah..Mike is a brilliant guitar player...i have to get this pedal ASAP!
i hope i can play like Mike with this pedal...The truth is...the tone came from Mike's fingers...
wonderful playing, pedal and guitar, congratulations, dear Mark !... :)
Love the Blackbird!!!
wow !!!!
your playing and the idea of making something like this is just amazing man !!!!
cheers
Love from India
Definately gives an acoustic flavor, but I'm not sure it will really fool anyone. Great demonstration though.
its not about fooling anyone. its about changing to acoustic sound without changing guitars. that would be so much easier.
Best acoustic sim I've heard and the cheapest.
You play a tasty Tele !!! The unit sounds like would benefit greatly from an exciter pedal. 'Sounds convincing enough as an acoustic to warrant buying it though.
it needs a lots of imagination to hear an acoustic guitar in there. may also be because the intention in the playing is mainly "electric"...good idea to show sounds against something ,it let understand the effectiveness or lack of anything in a pedal or effect been auditioned. Thanks also for the other videos.
sweet playing.
What a great sounding pedal!!
I sometimes use the integrated acoutic sim of my boss me 25 and it sounds ok-ish with the neck humbuckie..this sounded much more like I imagine an acoustic sim, but I guess it's mostly due to the already pretty clean and twangy tele sound..
Great player.
I've never seen a pedal like this demonstrated with flatwound strings. I'd like to hear that.
Yeah I'd be interested to hear it on a neck humbucker. Single coils sound kinda quacky but it's sort of cool.
It would work great for humbuckers
It's really really important to know hat you're plugged into... It just sounds like a thin electric guitar, is this direct into the desk?
Swart AST it's scrolled across the screen throughout the video :-)
very nice sound-wow
Thanks for watching
sounds a whole lot like my Nashville Tele with all three pickups turned on....
flamenco version of stairway? awesome!
this is what my martin dsr1 sounds like through my bugera v22. Not the ideal acoustic sound, but a decent amplified sound and really, once the band is mixed over you the sound an acoustic creates in rock is as my friend described it "like a pitched shaker sound". You couldn't do mumford and sons, but alt or rock would be fine
There's no better way to sell anything! ;)
Thanks for watching!
-Mike
thanks for the demo. Is that some hum or noise ? Thanks
Some Zep songs, nice!
Mike,
1+, Humbucker demo of this pedal would be nice, too! (and a little more Zep) ;)
hey mike...i watch your videos no matter what you're demoing so I can hear you playing, lol!
I've a question for you:
Where in the chain of a pedal board you'd place the Acoustikar?
My set up:
Tuner, vol pedal, wah, mxr comp, bb preamp, pigtronix boost, quantum, wampler tape echo, carbon copy.
Also, do you use 0.10s on your Tele?
Tks for all the demos - you're such a talented player you sound good through anything you hook up your axe to : )
Cezar Santana Best to put this right in front of the chain.
Hi! How did you sound out this pedal? To front of an amp or direct to P.A? Did you use a DI box if you direct it to P.A?
Great demo, may get one of these. The only problem with all these mini type pedals is that the smallest controls have no really visible marker on them - really annoying! The problems we have in the first world eh? ;)
Oh, God. Mike's playing makes me pay less attention to the pedal itself.
I wish I could play half as beautifully as Mike does.
Would work great with humbuckers
Hello PrymaxeVintage!! Can you please let me know if this pedal has a hiss/hum like the BOSS verisons?? If it does not I will literally put the pedal to sell and buy this little beast. You're playing is superb!
warm sound, cool
Great player and demo
What would this do on bass I wonder?
What is the name of the song between 4:45 and 5:14?
Led Zeppelin : Over the Hills and Far Away :) !
Thanks!
I want the Track.. Love it. great playing BTW
Here I am looking to check out a quirky little pedal and I'm floored by the best cover of Stairway I can remember hearing. And keep in mind this is a very tough song to cover, because no one else besides Plant has what it takes to sell his hippie dippie lyrics. You bypass this problem with a low-key instrumental version that is simply smashing.
4:10 for the magic
Very fun pedal
Thank you
well, for live use its practical as hell. take opeth's "the drapery falls": to perform that live accurately you'd have to switch between an acoustic and a fully distorted electric in a split second. with an acoustic simulator you can actually do that.
Yeeeeesss! I love Opeth's 'Damnation' album a lot...and though it's pretty much acoustic-based, this Mooer pedal could possibly make it easier for sure. :) (If I were to get one, though, I'd have to get a second guitar, just because I like to keep my 7-string acoustic in either standard tuning, or B-D-A-d-f-a-e. ;)
who is the guitar player
Hi! Awesome playing btw. Does anyone know which one is the song played at 03:03? Thx!
are they always that noisy or was it just a bad powersupply?
stairway to azucar! Salsa version to Led Zepp :)
my god...how nice...crazy...
is there a hiss sonds just like on the Boss Acoustic Sim?
How would this sound on an electric upright bass? I'm trying to play jazz without having to carry a huge instrument around :(
I honestly have never used this pedal, but I'm going to assume it will sound like ass. I have the BOSS AC2 which this pedal is based on (no pun intended) and it sounds horrible with both guitar and bass, but worse with bass because it's voiced for guitar. Maybe an under saddle piezo would be better in your case.
its good but ac3 has 2 output options .. i wonder how it would be sound without an guitar amp ..
Is level knob for volume? or like a blend?
does mooer uses an analog circuit or digital? thank you
Do you have any idea how this compares to the Tom's line aroma acoustic simulator?
I think the Mooer Acoutikar, the Tom's Line AC Stage and many others are just clones of the Boss AC-2.
