    I have the 1st gen dewalt 60v. I used 9AH batterys. Changing out the chain made a huge difference in performance. It isn’t a gas saw but it’s definitely more convenient for the average user if you are already investing in the dewalt 60V line.

      Did you get rid of the low profile 3/8" and go standard or just go Full Chisel in the low profile?

      Went full chisel on the low profile. I want to go 3/8 to test it out but haven’t done enough homework to figure out which setup to use to go to a standard chain.

      @ might be a little easier to do on your saw. I believe the second gen saws use a more standard bar then the 1st gens

      We both have a 3/8" chain with .050 bar and 68 drives. I am stuck as I might try a realy 3/8" chain, but go for a semi chisel anti kick back chain, so less aggressive full size.

    Is it just me, I think most of these battery saws sound like plastic motorized toys? The Milwaukee sounds like it has a metal gearbox and the DeWalt is plastic.

      @WorkshopAddict couple comparison videos. I like the ego 20" but* it out drains the batteries a tad. So their 18" saw does not do that.. if they can just tweak their stuff a bit to get the 20 to not over drain.. be a dann good saw. Cuts faster than the Milwaukee dual. In some case's , I've also seen the Milwaukee cut evenly with the ego and or slightly faster when batteries are broken in?idk weird with some of the battery testing. But have pretty much liked the ego saws.

    • @WorkshopAddict
      @WorkshopAddict  3 дні тому

      @johnkrisovitch69 The issue I see is that if ones edits much of a video and does not do multiple cuts, the variance between cuts is so great that you could come up with any outcome you want. Using the best Dewalt cut and the best Milwaukee cut on the large maple, the Dewalt saw wins. That had to be a soft area in the wood because all the other cuts were much slower. EGO has good equipment and a lot more batteries to help with the battery power and life. I just do not like the plastic feel of the saws. But that is personal preference. I am a gas chainsaw user and like to play around with the battery saws.

    Just got the DeWalt last month for $479 with two 12ah batteries. The Milwaukee is a better saw, not much doubt about that, but for nearly twice the price it had better be. DeWalt is releasing two new 12" saws and the 16" also needs an update so it may be a bit before they release another big one.

    Im an early adopter for battery equipment. And went with all the 80v kobalt brand. It all got discontinued, but i have had zero issues and couldnt be happier in most cases. Alot of it comes down to user ability imo. A rookie is a rookie, and gas can be forgiving with extra power. Doesnt make you have more skill with the tool however. They all have great advantages. Battery works well for me as its rare use, and somewhat smaller applications and jobs. I have the batteries to make the tools run for hours on end also. That is a big key to not being frustrated. Great video, and thank you.

    The dewalt is not a 15ah battery when running on 60v tools, you're only getting 5ah.

    • @WorkshopAddict
      @WorkshopAddict  2 дні тому

      You are 100 percent correct, but Dewalt calls it a 15Ah battery in most cases so for clarity I follow. With that said, the Watt hours on the FV 5Ah battery is 300. The watt hours on Two 8Ah Milwaukee Forge is 320. They should last a similar amount of time.

      Same watt hours available in the battery, whether it is running 20volt or 60 volt. 60 volt inherently runs more efficiently so it should, unless Dewalt did an inefficient motor, run longer then a lower voltage setup on the same battery.

  • @captindan5460

    Next time try the 9ah flexvolt battery. Thats dewalts best battery for the flexvolt line. TTQ has done these tests and the 5ah power stack and the 9ah flexvolt are the best 2 batteries for the Dewalt line. Also remember in 60v the 15ah is only a 5ah battery. Its 15ah in 20v but 5ah in 60v. So in that aspect Milwaukee will have more run time with using 8ah or 12 ah batteries.

    • @plmn93
      @plmn93 3 дні тому

      That saw needs the 15ah battery to get the full 4 HP. It limits the power with smaller batteries to I believe something like 3.25 -3.5 HP.

      I was hoping the 3 Ah 60 V battery with 21700 cells would be equivalent or better than the 5 Ah 60 V battery with 18650 cells, but unfortunately it is not.

Bypassed the switch and the motor was dead. Dewalt sent me a new saw as I was covered but I have to say the inside of that saw is really toylike. There is one major problems with DeWalt 60V tools and it’s the actual battery. DeWalt uses a hybrid 20V/60V “Flexvolt” battery pack. When it comes to power efficiency it’s a HORRIBLE 20V or 60V battery pack! I have build couple of true 60V (using Flexvolt battery case as donor) batteries using 4AH tabless cells. I did some tests on 60V 18”,20” chains saws and on 60V 9” wet concrete saw, those 60V tools are VERY power hungry! Nonetheless it’s about 35% more run time than DeWalt 15AH Flexvolt battery pack! Also sometimes to keep in mind, my battery pack only has (15) 21700 4AH tabless cells where DeWalt’s 5 pound brick had (30) 18650 Samsung 25S cells. Next on the list to build a 15S2P 8AH/60V Monster battery pack! If you wonder how does one charge a 60V battery pack? Well I have to use a very expensive 16S ISDT smart charger.
