Wow! Those mossy shots are great Garrick.
Thanks Neville!! Glad you liked them
Garrick, this video is magnificent! It answers my questions perfectly and you weren't SHOUTING...we aren't selling used automobiles after all! You have a rare gift and thanks for sharing!!
Holy cow - youve made my day - Truly, thank you. So very kind of you
Beautiful Macros Garrick I enyoy your Videos, the let me relax for a while thanks my Friend. Have a nice Week!
Thanks Rolf! Be well my friend!!
Enjoyed the video. A lot of nice compositions.
Glad you enjoyed it
That was a nice video. I loved how you explained the process of picking up or deciding your next photo and the way you described it. Very inspirational!
+Ioana K. Thank you Ioana! Love that name!
Well done! Very enjoyable and motivating. Thank you.
Thank you!! Thank you!! Thank you!!
Great macro shots, Garrick. Congratulation.
Many thanks!
I get great images from d7200 with macro but am thinking of getting d500 with flip up screen and touchscreen AF as I shoot low to ground and focus bracket. I hear IQ of d500 is excellent. Thx
yes, pairing the d500 w a macro lens is a great combo!! You should do it!!!
Good video….amazing images…inspires me to get out with my macro. Thank you!
Thanks Carol! Yes, get out there w the macro!! have a great week!!
Very motivating video, makes me want to get out! Thanks Garrick.
You can do it!
Great video Garrick. I assume you manual focus those water drops ? You always give me more ideas, when I'm out and about. Keep them coming. Thanks. KB
Hi Ken, yes I manual focus 100% of the time when shooting macro. Well, I guess I shouldnt say that :) Because Im going to do a video soon about using the focus shift feature on the D850 and I want to do that w my macro lens. So.....more to come!
Very nice shots, Garrick. You've given me some inspiration for when I can't find any interesting insects. I love shooting after the rain, as the light is wonderfully soft. I too shoot macro with a crop sensor, using the Tamron 90 mm macro lens, which also gives fantastic image quality, although, being built like a tank, is a bit heavy. I'd be interested in knowing which tripod you use that allows you to get down so low.
Thank you! Im glad you liked it and it gave you some ideas!! thats cool. Take care!!
Hey there! I completely missed the tripod question - Sorry about that - I use a Manfrotto 055 carbon fiber tripod - to be honest its pretty bulky and heavy (or Im getting weak in my old age)
What tripod do you use? Yours looks heavy duty. I have a D500 with a 200-500 mm lens so I need a little bit of a stronger tripod than I got now
sorry it took so long to respond - i have a manfrotto 055 it is pretty durable and ive had it for a few years. thanks so much for watching - New video this saturday
Will the macro sigma 105mm F2.8 EX DG OS work with the D850 nikon camera? I believe that it's compatible with Canon.
I use it interchangeably between my D500 and D850 without any issues
I was at a photo store and saw a SIGMA EX 105mm F/2.8 DG MACRO HSM OS lens Brand new wrapped in plastic..... and asked the guy how much for that lens.....and he told me it's been here for a while, how about $200.00 ...... and now I'm the new owner and using it on my 1DX MK III .......
wow what a great purchase!!! Nice job!! Enjoying it??

This might shock you...
set up a still life, doesn't have to be fancy.
Put your D500 on tripod, compose, shoot and tie the tripod down.
Replace the D500 with the D850, same lens.
Focus and shoot. You didn't move the tripod, did you?
Give them the same treatment in your editing software, but crop the D850 image to D500 dimensions.
Print both at A3, see how much difference there is.
My expectation is marginal, at best. If I owned a D850, I'd not buy a D500. Even if the D500 is a kittke better, you have more cropping options with the D850.
+OneEyedPhotographer I used to shoot a lot of high school football which is played at night under poor lighting conditions. Which is a situation that is not conducive to the d850. Hence the purchase of the d500. Thanks!
@@GarrickGillettePhotography That sounds fair. Might make a good video though.
