  • I thought it would be interesting to take the D500 out for some Landscape Photography and I used the 18-55 Kit Lens to do it with.

I meant to also mention that that is a tough creek crossing for sure and also to thank you for the new log intel.

It can be crazy at times with the water flow and especially on your own with no help or cell service.

I love that place and I'll forever be in your debt for showing it to me. I've been playing with my old D800 for landscape photography lately. I had to go to AF-S with it as well. It's weird that AF-C isn't an option in live view, only AF-S and AF-F. Comparing the Z8 and D500 shots, The Z8 shot certainly looked better, but the biggest difference was that I liked the white balance better in the Z8 shot.

White balance and contrast was better on Z8 I thought.

    BE CAREFUL THERE Ron !!!
Nice Waterfall Photos. That’s a subject near and dear to me. Love taking waterfall and scenic shots.
HEY, was You humming that great old Grand Funk Railroad Tune, “ I’m getting Closer to My 1000 Subs!”
😆 You are getting close Ron!
I hadn’t checked on my UA-cam Notifications all Day, so I was lucky to see You on, and glad I was able to make it to Your Live Stream. That Richard was an informative Guy, and I think it went well. Take care and watch them slippery rocks! 😯👍📷

Thank you George for coming to my Live Stream. Those rocks are slippery and believe me that thought is always on my mind. Going out tomorrow for some more waterfalls in Southern Tennessee.

@@rdphoto2 You’re Welcome Ron. Have a great and a SAFE time Tomorrow. I meant to mention I use one of the newer VRII versions of that 18-55 lens on the D200, and they are a good match. Makes for a nice ‘walk around’ kit. I picked up that lens used. It has been OK.
Big News for You and Everyone: Nikon has acquired RED Camera Division, and has issued a firmware update for the Zfc camera. Nikon seems to be doing alright!? And Lens Rentals has acquired Borrow Lenses. This should be a ‘boon’ to all of us out there that occasionally rent stuff. Best to You and the Community Ron!

Hey James, I just re-purchased those lenses from KEH used. The 55-200 was slightly more but I am glad to have them in my kit, again.

Nice shots Ron!! The little 18-55 kit lens is very underated, I used one for landscapes for about 7 years that I bought used for $70...It was sharp as a tack! I went to the 18-300 now to keep me from having to carry so many lenses..

Rodney, I mostly got the 18-55 and 55-200 to use with the D200. I am going to take the D200 with me this weekend camping and do some waterfall photography with it. I also am taking the 12-24 f/4.

Great video and photos Ron, I am using d500 for wildlife until I go mirrorless, maybe an apsc version I hope, and haven't used my kit lens 18-55 much at all. You have inspired me, thanks.

Alan, you should put the lens on the D500 and do some landscape photos with it. Having new challenges keeps the photography alive. Best regards.
