- Join Mike as he shows you how to change your faucet's flow restrictor.
Depending on the needs of your home, you may want a faster flow rate to allow you to fill large pots and pitchers more quickly. Or maybe you want to reduce your faucet's flow rate in order to create a more environmentally conscious kitchen solution. Either way, this video will give you step-by-step instructions on how to get the job done.
Remember to check your state and municipal guidelines to ensure that your faucet flow rate is compliant with all local ordinances.
Model KPF-1610 is used for this video, however, you can use these instructions for the replacement of any Kraus Faucet Flow Restrictor.
Tip: Ignore the first part. Start at 1:54, don’t put the new flow restrictor in after you remove the old one. Bam, entirely new faucet.
2 years with low pressure.. got lucky to open this video 👍🏼
Thank you!
You must ask permission from your overlords. You may be able to if you pay the required tax for the liberty.
Is the quick connect (and flow restrict or) on both cold and hot water lines?
Just bought this faucet !! .. and Kraus has CHANGED the Quick Connect to a new smaller part, that isn't anything like shown here. How do I get the Flow Rate to INCREASE!!! .. this thing is worse than my old faucet, lol!!!
Hi Mike-it seems the 2.2 is a discontinued part. Can you list the part number so I can search for old stock? Thanks Don
Mine didn't come with a second (black) flow restrictor BUT, the white one doesn't have a restrictor in the end of it at all. In fact, the opening in the white one is larger than the feed hose. So my question is, is this still a thing?
Thanks for the information, very useful.
Thank you, yes, very helpful.
Could this be why our new single lever falls down when you're trying to wash your hands after flushing the toilet? (loses pressure) All other water pressures throughout the house is excellent. What gives?
Does the black 2.2 flow restrictor has small piece like the one inside the white flow restrictor?
What is the lowest? I know you mention 1.5 gallons per minute. Is there anything lower and what is the normal rate?.
The normal flow rate should be user preference...not mandated by government bureaucratic overreach!
Does this video instructions apply to the KPF-1690 Britt Single HandleCommercial Kitchen Faucet -- that is, can the flow rate be changed out as well?
Yes, this applies to all Kraus faucets
@@KrausUSATV Great--I just received the KPF-1690 but it did not come with the 2.2 flow restrictor. How do I go about getting this part?
I do not see the 2.2gpm restrictor in the box for my Britt faucet.
I just bought the KPF-1690 and mine didn’t have the 2.2 gpm restrictor in the box either. I just called customer service and they will ship one but it will take 1-3 days to ship and who knows how long to get here.
Same with me... but i wonder if because California, they purposely removed from box. So that led me to pop out insert in white connector, and leave it wide open....
@@russboulay8533 I am not in California. But I emailed them and they shipped one out quite promptly.
@@russboulay8533 when you left it wide open did you have a faster flow? curious about doing this as well
@@nickloprn It was slightly better, but besides the restrictor there is still some other piece in there that limits excessive flow. I think it’s the spray diverter. While straight flow is better, spray is much stronger after restrictor removal.
A properly sized drill bit could improve things considerably....
Flow restrictors are one of the stupidest things ever invented. All they do is waste time. They don't save ANY water, because you're going to have that faucet or shower or hose turned on as long as it takes to get the job done. A good analogy would be pumping gas. Imagine installing a device on every gas pump that made your gas flow into your car at half the rate. Insane, right?
Thank the Democrats in California for their stupidity.
Where do i order a flow restrictor? I didnt have either in my box.
My box didn't come with it either. But you can pop the aerator out of the existing white flow restrictor to get the same affect. it's a tan, brownish piece of plastic in the center of the white restrictor. I just pushed it out with a screw driver.
@@brooksieberry5256THANK YOU! You saved me time, money and loads of frustration!
Or can I buy one at Lowe's Hardware ?
I just got my faucet and it didn't have any flow regulator in the box. Who should I address in this case?

Hmm... nope... Already removed that valve check and threw it away years ago.... aerator is clean. What I did AND DID NOT HELP, was to remove the cartridge and blow compressed air thru the lines - the inlets are clean, water comes out good - I held the cartridge opening with my hand while slowly opened one of the shutoffs: aha, there is some sort of blockage or probably yet another restrictive shit between the cartridge compartment and the tip of the faucet - yep, tested with the aerator out, no luck.
When I blew compressed air through the "output" in the cartridge compartment, it immediately builds up some pressure that slowly releases or when I remove the tip of the compressor tool... so... there is something in there fucking up the water flow.
what a joke, if it i need say 3 gallons of water it's still 3 gallons no matter that bs flow restrictor is in it. remove it altogether
How about *NO* flow restrictor? Huh? Get rid of the damn EPA.
Looks like if you don't put that drop in piece back in it doesn't have any flow restriction
@@s0l1dsnak3 if you have older plumbing. The problem is with newer installs, is that the water diverters behind the wall restricts the flow. So there's nothing you can do at the faucet end to increase it.
