I got to meet April in Ohio and talk to her for quite a while. I'm happy to report she's super nice and down to Earth, just as you'd expect from watching her videos. Go see her next time she's at a Triton show in your area. Thanks April, and much continued success!!!
:) Sorry I didn't have as much energy as I would have liked, but it was great getting to chat as much as we did. Thank you for making the trip out to say hello.
+April Wilkerson We all feel a little under the weather now and then, you were a trooper. I'm sure your mom will be restocking your energy reserves with a nice Thanksgiving meal, mine told me all I have to bring is a pumpkin pie and an appetite. Hope everyone out there has a Happy Thanksgiving!
For all of us confused Swedes: Apparently Swedish candy brand Malaco created "Swedish Fish" (together with Swedish Berries and Swedish Shells) for the U.S. market back in the 50's. Nowadays these wine gum fishes are produced in Canada but they are still called Swedish fishes and have the word "Swedish" embossed on them! Den nordiska varianten kallas pastellfisk och på dem står det Malaco ^^
Good job. He seemed very comfortable to get along with and very knowledgeable. It was obvious that you enjoyed your time there. I will check out his channel. Thanks for taking us along.
I always get such tool envy watching these videos, retired just getting into wood working, and working out of a 12’ x 10’ metal mower shed, renting atm so stuck...but someday!
That was a great video!! You two really had some fun together. I have one of those routers, so I'm not entering, but I want to say they are GREAT routers!! Triton have revisited a lot of the conventional ways routers operate and changed a lot of things for the better. I have mine in my router table permanently because it's designed to be table mounted - no need for a separate router lift. And it has plenty of power for large bits.
That is so cool you guys got together for a project. I have been watching Matt build that saw. Take care guys and I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
Thank You for the wave, Now I knew I was on the right channel, and nice second wave to make up for the last video. Great project and fun see you in another builders shop
Great job April!! Matt is a really good guy to learn from. I learned a few little tricks and tips from him. And I've been doing woodworking off and on for about 20 years or so. Keep up the great work and remember to have fun but never give up. Thanks for sharing
For sanding and routing I use carpet pad of different densities. Especially for smaller pieces or if you don't have a floor model. The piece will corner into the plate and cutting bit perfectly as you push the piece into the soft pad. Also keeps the vibrations to a minimum of you like having your tools close while your working a project without them vibrating off the work surface.
I came across one of your videos about using a trim router the other day and love your videos! I'm making a rocket bed for my son for Xmas. It's a bigger project than I first thought and I'll be cutting the pieces on a CNC router in the next week or so after finally finalizing the design and toolpaths. I can't tell you how AWESOME it is to see a woman doing this kind of work! It truly inspires me! Hopefully, I'll have many more projects down the pike. I look forward to seeing more of the work you do and even created an Instagram account to follow your work!
Very nicely done board. I know you enjoyed being with Matt in his shop and meeting his wonderful family! Your giveaway only allows us to enter if we have Instagram (which I don't) so guess I'm out of luck. But Thanks for getting Triton to give the routers away.
: / Yes I'm sorry, I didn't even think about it until I made the giveaway live and read the comments. I'll make sure to include ways to enter future giveaway without having another social media account.
Nice build and you guys looked like you were having a blast with it. I recently bought an old craftsman jointer at a yard sale for $50 and though it's really small, it does the job on lumber up to about 6 inches wide. Great build and I like the live edge you guys left on the boards.
April, I just want to say that I love your video 's. At the moment I'm building my shop and I definitely get some inspiration from you (and your organising tips, my wife loves them too) Keep up the good work ;-) Best regards from the Netherlands
That shop is AMAZING wow what a nice guy too. very cool just to watch how its made it looks awesome, and a really nice piece and neat ideal. April you always have fun and you always enjoy your work your awesome
Great project choice! I love the look of live edge and I have been working with it for a few years and always worried about the bark coming off after I'd given a project away. So thanks for the tip about using the epoxy on the bark to help keep it in place.April, I didn't know about the Router contest, I just thought you were being a good rep by showing off your different Triton Tools, lol. They were strategically placed in different shots and I kept thinking that was a clever way to get Triton into the video,LOL. Great Video, as always it's a treat to see Matt work and to have a dual project video was awesome.Thanks. ~Dolly
April please never let your hand pass over the jointer blades. Press down behind the leading edge of enough wood to pass over the blades , then place your palm on the material that has passed the blades. Other wise those blades might bite into a knot or contrary grain. Then that piece of timber will be behind you before you realise what's happened and your hand will be in the blades.
April, 1st time you've made me KRINGE!! I've watched a bunch of your videos and your normal safety practices are good. Jointers are especially dangerous.
I lost the tip of my finger. Was making strips to go between old pine flooring to fill the gaps. Got complacent after finishing a cut and my finger dipped in. Happened so fast I just stood there for a second asking " did I Just do that"? Immediately went to hospital. I was so lucky, they took to first knuckle. I was amazed only 3-4 drops of blood. I've had boards kick back and hit me in chest. Wear the denim apron too.
Love this. I appreciate that you're humble with your work. And he's a humble, patient, great artisan. Well worth watching. Thanks. PS I'll pretend I'm in Europe if that helps... Australia is just a little way from both but ... )
Ironic!! We were just talking last week about "no snow in Texas," and there you are in Snow Country!! Karma!! LOL!! :-) BTW, as usual, great job and great video!!
; ) Haha yep, this video was filmed last month but I was actually in Ohio this past weekend and it was snowing! I was thinking of our conversation as well.
so now we know who has been cutting the trees down thx april both have awesome channels to follow along its like fallowing you people like doing dot to dots awesome infor
This is kind of a Zen thing but it really is effective. Try using odd numbers (3,5,7) when adding bow ties or similar items to your work. I never use pairs or even numbers, it just does`t look right. Can`t explain it beyond that. Next time lay out some even and odd items and you will see the difference. Just saying. I really enjoy your videos and your willingness (dare I say fearless) to jump right into a project. Thanks so much for posting. Bye!

Matt is one of the best woodworking teachers on UA-cam.
Thank you Craig!

Good job. He seemed very comfortable to get along with and very knowledgeable. It was obvious that you enjoyed your time there. I will check out his channel. Thanks for taking us along.
Those trays look super cool with the live edge. Great job!
Yeah I love the live edge. Matt had a huge closet of slabs to choose from, and it was pretty fun pilfering through to find the board to use.
Nice video! It's nice to see a woman doing woodworking. But also very talented...and beautiful.
I always get such tool envy watching these videos, retired just getting into wood working, and working out of a 12’ x 10’ metal mower shed, renting atm so stuck...but someday!
Great video. Always good to see the woodworking community coming together.
Very cool you sure can have a blast with Matt and to be able to pick his mind and have him teach you his woodworking skills had to be incredible.
Excellent video April & Matt, I met the Triton guys here at a show in Ireland and they were great to talk to and the tools look amazing!
What a treat! l
Love seeing you guys together.

I'm glad to hear you love your router, I agree with you and love mine as well. Triton has added some wonderful standout features on their routers.
That is so cool you guys got together for a project. I have been watching Matt build that saw. Take care guys and I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
Holy cow that is a heck of a jointer. Those are nice looking trays.
Right?!
April great to see you learning a few new tricks from Matt way up in the top of the country. A long way from Texas!
: ) Yep but it was a great visit. I was glad to be leaving though when it was getting cold. haha, my warm blood can't handle that temp.
Cool - Glad you came up here to MN. . . . And leading us on to Matts Channel.
Welcome to MN! Thanks for introducing me to Matt's channel!

Thank You for the wave, Now I knew I was on the right channel, and nice second wave to make up for the last video. Great project and fun see you in another builders shop

Yes, the bow tie adds the strength needed to reinforce the piece of wood. Glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks for watching.

Great project and I second the Swedish Fish in the bowl.

Matt Cremona: Demetri Martin of woodworking. Love him lol
Great video and fun little project. Seems like you and Matt had a blast. I was hoping to see you welding the beam saw at least once.
Nice build and you guys looked like you were having a blast with it. I recently bought an old craftsman jointer at a yard sale for $50 and though it's really small, it does the job on lumber up to about 6 inches wide. Great build and I like the live edge you guys left on the boards.

Your first bowties came out really great, I haven't had a opportunity to do them myself, yet! 🤓👍🏼
Great work, April!!!
Wood you like to make some chisel chips and sawdust?!!!
April please never let your hand pass over the jointer blades.
