You saved my life man!!!!!!!!!!!! I was freaking out because I literally tried everything. For some reason I thought I needed to update my driver's instead of reverting to a previous version!
Update: it's a day later and my PC automatically reverted back to the latest version of my graphics driver. Like you showed in the second method the rollback option with grayed out. I was able to go into Windows settings and turn off the automatic updates. I tried method, 2 downloading and installing a older version. This didn't work. I'll keep on trying different driver versions since I don't know when the issue was caused. I'm using DaVinci Resolve 17. I know I could download 18 and it would work with the latest driver update but I have lots of projects I'm working on so I can't really switch to Resolve DaVinci eight yet.
When Resolve wouldn't see my Radeon RX 6700 XT, I looked at five or six different "how to fix it" resources. This was the only one that had the fixes of reinstalling the AMD software and forcing a driver update. That worked. Thanks! I was sad. Now I'm happy.
damn your first solution was all I needed, thank you so much. I just installed DaVinci for the first time and got hit with this, spent like my whole evening trying to get it to work and it was as simple as a rollback
Thank you very much. Within the first minute or so of your video, you resolved my problem, especially having an AMD graphics processor. I am running Davinci Resolve 18.6.3 with a Minisforum Venus series UM790 Pro. That little device manager tip did the trick, Bam!! Thanks. TokyoJerry
WOW! Just had this same issue! I am running a Radeon 7900XT and I was using davinci resolve for a while, stopped for a brief period, then wouldn't open up just like the start of the video. I searched countless areas online and I could never find a "to the point" guide for assistance. But sure enough I tried the roll back method shown, and Davinci instantly started working again no problem. THANK YOU!
if you have AMD like me (7900 XT), solution for me was uninstalling AMD adrenaline and let windows to install gpu drivers by itself... I tried multiple driver versions, it didnt help. Your solution didnt help either. Then i reinstall windows and it worked, because there was no adrenaline software, just driver. After i installed amd adrenaline, davinci stopped working. So i uninstalled the adrenaline and davinci works perfectly fine. My specs: ( i7 9700k, AMD 7900 XT, windows 11 64-bit, amd gpu driver from 25.7.2023)..............So maybe there is some tweak in andrenaline, which cause the problem...but i didnt bother.
Number 1 didn't work for me. Tried to open up #2 and a popup says "windows update may have automatically replaced your amd graphics driver. hence, the version of amd software you have launched is not compatible with your currently installed amd graphics driver." what do i do?
@@losinghair-notheartsarah3703 That means you don't have the GPU Software which you should get. It allows you to update your GPU without having to visit the website all the time. You can still progress with the Downloading steps from my Method 3. You should try the latest version first (Time: 2:46). If the latest version doesn't work for you then download a "Previous Driver" from March (Time: 3:35). I made this video because in April the AMD drivers had problems with Davinci Resolve, I also addressed in the video. Let me know how it goes for you.
I LOVE YOU. The third one worked for me. I sold my RX6600 and I friend gave me a RX640, my wife gave me a RX7700xt, but my case is to small for it and due to that fact I do have to buy a new case. I was getting that issue with using an RX640 4GB and I tried everything update using windows updated, using other software, the first and the second step of this video and nothing then I downgrade from the lastest driver version to the one of January 2021 and everything is working fine. Thank very much and Hello from The Dominican Republic.
So here’s the deal. I just installed resolve 18.6 and I got that same error. I go into the driver and it says I can’t roll back it’s like it’s unhighlighted. This is a windows 10 computer so I’m not sure. It’s a intel 620 Graphics card
So I can't get my Davinci Resolve to open. When I double click it does like start up showing all the configuration then goes blank then nothing. I have Radeon 7800 xt. I updated to windows 11 hoping it would solve this, now when I accidentally downloaded the free version it open and ran fine but the paid studio version won't run. I've tried all the things on videos for fixing nothing works, so it's something with Windows or something in the drivers with Radeon or could be both.
If anyone van help me. This happened randomly to me as well. After following this video, I can now open DaVinci, BUT every single video in the timeline is black and when I go to the fusion tab, it just crashes. I'm desperate tried reinstalling DaVinci, reinstalling windows. Did not help. Please smn!🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿
Muchas gracias!!! Llevaba viendo videos por dos días y el tuyo fue el correcto, por si alguien tiene el mismo problema que yo con gráficos integrados vega 8, les aseguro que funciona al 100%
thanks! i solved my problem in AMD RX 6700S with 3rd method!. using march 23.3.2 Drivers! my 23.12.1 didn't work im trying with 28.8.2 wish me luck! edit: it worked!
Crazy. None of this worked for me. I even installed the old March driver and I'm still getting the error message. and I was just using Resolve a few months ago no problem.
I've gone all the way back to a Feb 2022 version of the AMD software, and a late 2022 version of Resolve and I still can't get it to see my GPU. Radeon RX 580. Everything worked find before the last update. I've tried everything in the video. Any other suggestions?
Sorry to hear about your troubles. I can only recommend joining DaVinci Resolve Forums and asking them. Some times mods of Blackmagic Design respond. Your best bet is there.
And again, latest NVIDA-Drivers do not work. Cannot rollback since I tried the "Studio Version" as well as the "Game ready Version". So going to install old version. Edit: For me the problem was NOT the driver. It stopped to work with all NVIDIA drivers. Reinstalling DaVinci also had no effect. Finally the problem was installed NSight (CUDA-Toolkit) - even deinstallation did not help since it left a path in the environment variables: CUDA_INJECTION32_PATH C:\Program Files (x86)\NVIDIA Corporation\Nsight Visual Studio Edition 6.0\Monitor\Common\Injection32\Nvda.Cuda.Injection.dll Delete this Entry from environment and everything is fine
What worked for me: I have an AMD Radeon 7800 XT GPU. Davinci Resolve not detecting that I have the GPU or even my integrated Graphics card. I then went to the AMD drivers update section and selected my GPU, then installed the latest version of the adrenaline software. I reopened Davinci and it detected it right away :)
im having the problem with the same GPU, but using the most recent drivers it doesnt work, i dont see a point in rolling my driver back because i checked and Ive opened it since the latest driver update
I installed a brand new RX 6700 XT and after rolling back my drivers the Gpu no longer appears listed at all in the device manager. So if anybody is doing this on a freshly installed GPU be careful or you could be in for another 4 hrs + trying to figure it out. What ended up solving this was going to the Amd site and downloading their cleaner tool. Then reinstalling the amd driver specifically for my card. AMD then downloaded and installed the pro adrenaline (wasn’t on pro for my old card).
Search for Device Manager. Click Display Adapter and underneath is your GPU. It will tell you which series you have. For example in my video it says: AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT. 5700 XT is the series for me.

My kind of video. Fixed! thank you
