- My latest "Remake of a Classic" video. This is a killer tune; one that I first heard in 1972...when I was 8. As you can see, my keyboard skills are off the charts. The headbanging at the end is my reminder to not take myself too seriously. Enjoy.
If Edgar heard this I’m sure he would say what an outstanding performance you gave! Well done Russ!
Actually the first concert in my life. Edgar with Rick D, 1974, with James Gang opening the show!
Wow, that's definitely a two-for-one bargain! Thanks much!
Unbelievable outstanding mind blowing performance and with the knowledge to put this all together. Awesome.. I’m a fan.
got to love the "background singer" at 3:02, top row and center: can't tell the guy to be "more into it" than that !!! :-) I LOVE the attitude !!! ;-)
Sometimes you just got to rock it! Thanks!
My God, what a talent! Absolutely nailed every bit of this great song!
Thanks a million; I appreciate it!
Russ Russ Russ.................You damn show-off (I say this with Love) LOL! I'm a wannabe drummer. This is the first time I have been able to SEE the drums being played! Your my motivation!
everyone wishes that they could sound this good! outstanding!
Thoroughly enjoying your music and covers! Thanks so very much for doing this and sharing it with us music lovers - particularly with us 60's and 70's music fans!
My pleasure! I appreciate it!
Amazing guitar sound in the intro..... nice phaser effect....:-)
Thank you kindly!
Dude, that keyboard part! Ha...sounded great! Especially the singing and lead guitar part....killer man!
The Edgar Winter Group never looked so good. From there album They Only Come Out at Night. Great cover Russ.
Thanks you so kindly!
Wow!!You played and sang the B'Jesus out of that baby!! On some of the high notes I think I saw a little blood come out!! PS Rick Derringer (Rick and the Raiders) played for my sisters prom in Dayton Ohio)
Thank so much! Very cool that Derringer played the prom.
This is the best Rick and Morty episode ever! Lol jk Amazing cover. So glad I found this channel!
LOL...thanks so much!
RUSS MUSIC IS SO YOUR GREAT I THANK YOU
Thanks so much!
We are the same age. We were listening to Edgar Winter at the same time and I'm sure we shared the fun of Edgar Winter on the Midnight Special rocking Frankenstein. Highly and Exclusively Inspired by these era bands that account for our early Rock heroes, the love of Classic Rock, and the desire to play. Here we are knowing it was all so cool. And I am just sure we would agree such a time and place back then, was such a thrill, and even now. I love your headbanging comment. Your talent musically and in production absolutely rock. Every part you did was strong and it was a blast watching and listening. You served the spirit of RocknRoll quite well. Keep it up my brother. You bless me.
Wow, thanks much for all the kind comments; I really appreciate it! Yeah, I remember staying up late to watch the Midnight Special (and Don Kirshner's Rock Concert)...even now they're a blast to watch here on UA-cam. Peace to you....Rock on!
I’ll never forget an evening in Fort Wayne Indiana where the Edgar Winter group played in a large bar 25 years ago.
Well, that had to be pretty darn cool.
Nailed it....
🎤🎤🎤🥁🎹🎸🎸🎸.
Thanks for watching!
Most excellent! There can be no better or equal cover.
I appreciate it very much..thanks!
Great job!
That lead guitar came in and I'm like awesome! Well done! The talent oozes from that room!
Awe shucks...thanks very much!
Lol🤩thought I was listening to the radio for a minute
right time right place right pace
Thank much!
Nailed it!
Wow. I play drums, guitar, bass. So
I know firsthand that you have really fast reflexes, and great timing and accuracy. Very impressive.
Wow, thanks! I really appreciate it.
I will embarrass myself here - I had never heard this track before. But it's great and exceptionally delivered. So now through this great cover I have checked out the original (written by Dan Hartman and) performed by the Edgar Winter Group. I don't know how I have missed this as Edgar has even performed "Free Ride" many times with Ringo Starr and his AllStarr Band. Great job Russ!
Glad you discovered the original....it's got a great vibe. Many thanks, as always, for the kind words!
Great! Excelente performance!
Glad you enjoyed it! Many thanks!
Now when I hear this song, I can't unsee the strip tease scene from The Drew Carey Show.
And nobody wants to see that.
That's hilarious....thanks, Mike!
Great cover Russ. You are an inspiration. 2 of my friends and I are going to try to do a song and see how it works. I hope it will be as much fun as you make it look in your videos!. Thanks again Russ, awesome job!
Go for it! It is a ton of fun...good luck! Thanks!
Oh ya, the friends I speak of are in Edmonton Alberta Canada and I am in Toronto Ontario Canada. We are 3500 km (2100 miles) apart but we will try Russ!
Russ you are an amazing talent! I love your music!!!
Thank you, Robert!
Such a great song for me. Love it!
Thanks, Alan...I appreciate it!
Heard this song in and ad wow you did it great
Thanks much!
Asombroso! Felicidades, adoro esa canción.
So glad to hear you enjoyed it...thanks so much!
Which Alesis kit do you use? They sound great! Listening to your covers has reignited my love of music and I’m considering buying a set for myself. I played drums in high school (over 40 years ago), along with some keyboard, but it’s never too late to pick up the sticks again. Thanks for bringing a part of me back to life, Russ!
Hi Chris.....go for it! The e-set is the Alesis Command Mesh. It took a bit of tweaking to get it where I want it. The biggest issue I have with it is that the cymbal pad wear out, and so I have to go to ebay every now and then to replace them. I've also had to replace the snare and kick drum pads. I'm either too rough on them, or they're just not very durable.
Your voice is strikingly similar to Peter Cetera's. This sounds like Chicago doing a cover of Edgar Winter.
Interesting....many thanks for listening; I really appreciate it!
I'm you fan Mr. Master. 🤟
Thanks much!
Run Run Run by Jo Jo Gunne should be your next cover!!!
That is a great tune....killer guitar work! Thanks!
@@russwilloughby501 you and I are the same age. I play all the similar instruments you do however you surpass my lead playing abilities and have a somewhat better singing voice. Congratulations on your work sir, you do a very good job. If you'd ever like to collaborate with original music, that's where my true talent lies.
Russ, you are definitely something else ! In a goo, amazing way !( Just on the verge of frustrating !!! lol!) From where I sit, I am a bit clueless as to which instrument (including the singing) was your first ? Or let me rep-hrase this : which instrument/part are you the most confortable, where you are enjoying yourself the most ? Just curious. What is the instrument/part that you feel you would like to improve the most ? My apologies for repeating myself or repeating what everbody else has said already : you are extremely confortable and fluid on each part. I respectfully bow to you sir! :-) (TRUE FACT : I just can't get enough of the guitar intro with the phaser !)
Hi Daniel! Thanks so much! I actually started on drums when I was 7 (50 years ago!), then took up guitar at 13. I enjoy doing both equally, and am very comfortable with playing either one. I would like to up my game on the keyboards; I'm a novice at best. Again, many thanks!
@@russwilloughby501 You're far from a novice on these instruments imo🤣😂💕
Hopefully you are not planning to hire new members or else you won't be able to fit them on the screen !!! lol I keep coming back regularely to hear your version ! Amazing Job!!! Congrats to all members of the band ........... ;-p
Thanks so much, Daniel!
Very nicely done! That's a fun song to play. Was the lead played through a Tom Scholz Rockman?
Thanks, Mark. All guitars are recorded direct using a Line 6 POD.
Que buen cover mi hermano felicidades
Thanks much!
If you ever clone yourself 6-7 times I hope you and your band come to Atlanta. 😊
Ok, now that's funny. Thanks!
NOW WILL YOU DO [ RAMBLIN GAMBLIN MAN ] BY BOB SEGER ? HOW ABOUT SOME DOOBIE BROS AND CREEDENCE CLEARWATER ?
Thanks for the suggestions!
Can someone tell me what Drums he is using?
