      i think it was a little too early, if you watch ronda she was a little surprised it was stopped, and wanted to continue getting hit

    • @MRostendway
      @MRostendway 7 років тому +4

      ***** Nahh watch the fight again for the final seconds and you will see what Herb saw in such a heated moment.
      Ronda was already hakf out and dazed, her hands were not doing any actual defence, her legs were like spaghetti and if you look closely Amanda was actually about to clip her with another dangerous combi before herb got in.
      Getting knocked out takes a huge toll in a fighter so it takes a good ref to recignise when its not worth it to continue a fight till a knock out.
      refs are there to protect fighters when they are unable to do so themselves.. Which herb did perfectly.

      But Rappaport was saying she couldn't take a punch. She took a bunch of them and wasn't knocked out. TKO. Ronda sucks against strikers and everyone can see she's a no show against two of them. She didn't even try.

      I know that he said that, and I think that the bigger problem for Ronda is the dodgin. In that fight Nunes probably scored every punch that she threw. Maybe Ronda played that tough you cant KOme character, but thats no good.

    • @CommonCentsRob
      @CommonCentsRob 7 років тому

      Nunes scored almost 90% of her punches. 80 something. You're right. She had no defense and was basically a no-show to the fight. She was obviously not prepared and knew it coming into the fight. What Rappaport said was idiotic.

      i think you misunderstood the meaning of what he said.
      when people say, someone cant take a punch, it doesnt mean, they will be knocked out. it means, that that person doesnt know how to react when they are punched. and thats what happened here(as well as her last fight). she took a punch, and then the fight was pretty much over, because she got completely lost without knowing what to do!

  • @RobotReg

    This guy hasn't got a clue what he is talking about and clearly never participated in combat sports. I am not a Rousey fan but that stoppage was not "white privilage!". Rousey was done, out on her feet and Herb Dean an extremely experienced ref stopped the fight at the perfect time despite some people wanting to see her get dropped. The Lineker, TJ comparison shows this guy doesn't know what he was looking at.

      The ref's job is to protect the fighters. He saw that Ronda could no longer protect herself, so it was his job to protect her.
      This is not like the days of the gladiators where they fought to the death. The ref did what he was suppose to do.
      I have seen fights where the ref let them fight too long and a fighter ended up dead or with serious injuries.

    • @Redalex777
      @Redalex777 7 років тому +6

      LoftyXsWaGX34 it is her coaches fault. He's led her to believe that she has a stand up game. Watch her shadow boxing, she looks extremely awkward. She was extremely hyped due to some of the girls she fought standing. But the truth is her boxing is not even mediocre, its poor. She should have had 1 or 2 fights before a title shot to get her confidence going.

    • @osu5inarow
      @osu5inarow 7 років тому +4

      LoftyXsWaGX34 That's on the coach again because she needs to start learning how to shoot. and work the angles more. Another reason why people are getting on her coach is because before the fight he told her to stand up with Nunes.

    • @MRostendway

      Another reason why people are jumping on the coach is because they apparently didnt spar that often.

      Slimkidd730 Juliana may pose problems with her aggressive wrestling but will get lit up if she cant take Nunez down.
      Pena is fighting Valentina Shevchenko who did really good against Nunez, won the last round and shifted momentum. A 5 round fight would have benefited her greatly. Holly Holm and Valentina are big threats to Nunez because of their striking experience. Ronda's striking defense doesn't come close to comparing to those two.

    • @tayl0rd553
      @tayl0rd553 7 років тому +7

    I disagree with Rappaport on the early stoppage. From the second Amanda started throwing punches it was clear that Ronda was outclassed in striking ability. She ate some big shots and didn't try to change her game plan. She just kept trying to stand with Amanda and the ref made not only the right call but saved Ronda from taking some extra damage.

    I like Rapaport especially many of his movies. But he is totally offbase saying Rousey cant take a punch. If she was hit with one punch and got ko'd then she couldnt take a punch. But she was hit with about 20 punches from a Amanda Nunes who is a power puncher. Many right at the end of her punches which is devasting. It is funny guys sitting in a studio who have never experienced getting hit like that can say she cant take a punch.

      @Tom Barry - "If she was hit with one punch and got ko'd then she couldnt take a punch". So you're saying Jose Aldo can't take a punch? Taking a punch doesn't necessarily mean getting knocked out. Getting hit hard and then MENTALLY quitting is what he means by "can't take a punch".

      joeashbubemma im not saying jose aldo cant take a punch. Im saying rousey can take a punch. And for people to judge who have never been hit like that is ridicoulos. Miesha Tate predicted this would happen. She said she was stunned at Nunes power and range. knowing now how hard Amanda Nunes hits.

      What they mean is as a fighter you have to be able to take a punch and still think rationally, Ronda can't, when she takes a hard punch she has like a blackout and isn't able to think normally anymore.

      Cesar Almeida that is true to a point. But when hit by a power puncher the human brain gets concused and the cant think straight. Like what used to happen to Mike Tyson's opponents early in his career.

      Tom Barry Okay in the Nunes fight i can accept it but Holly his a good striker but not very powerfull, and still, Ronda had no clue to what to do.
      It's a common known fact that Ronda don't spar...how should se learn how to react if she don't knows how it feels to be punched in the nose. MMA fighters that come from a wrestling, judo etc backgroung have to spar alot to learn how to react to punches.

    Ronda has a lot to change in her life, and the personal side of it reflects her in cage performance as well as public image/character. Will she make those changes? If she gains the strength to address her huge flaws behavior wise it would be interesting to see. Do I think she can defeat the top fighters in the division? Possibly with a great strategy, but the striking may always be her downfall, and the strength department is something it seems she is behind in ironically as she was seemingly the strongest woman in a long time in the division. Schevchenko, Nunes, and then the others who will not do everything in their power to keep it standing so the grappling part is negated would again put her at a disadvantage to where she most likely will not come out on top. If she addresses those issues a comeback would be interesting to see. I can't imagine at this point as stubborn as she's chosen to be all along, she would still feel propelled to have Taverdyan as her main striking coach if not outright only coach smh to both scenarios. If she chose to be stubborn once again even with a change to everything she does to prepare for a fight, or fight for her literal life as it would be the next time, I can see her publicly keeping Taverdyan only to not be supposedly not proven completely wrong even though any legitimate if any training would be done with him. I see a hush-hush paying of him, but no training whatsoever done to with him, and things will get out and her character flaw will be brought up despite finally doing the correct thing and that is getting away from a suppose coach at this point, but at a bare minimum terrible one everyone at this moment can acknowledge.
