And it was true. Jordan pretty much said it himself. He said if he couldn't find anything to challenge himself then it was time for him to walk away from the game of basketball. Pretty much, it was too easy for him at that point.

DH It's always an interesting subject because it's an arguable one and can go either way because it's a matter of opinion and personal perspective. Choose one, there are a bunch of supporting points for it, choose the other, and there are a bunch of supporting points for it. This is always an interesting topic and will be for the next many years. Almost every single sports fan has an opinion on this topic, and it just truly shows us how great these two guys were and are.

Jordan is the GOAT for a ton of reasons. One reason is that while Lebron is supposedly the "greatest all around player in nba history" Michael Jordan has the most complete resume in NBA history.
Jordan has the stats unlike Russell. He has the rings unlike Wilt. He was the best player in all his rings unlike Kareem, Kobe or Shaq. He took the game globally unlike Bird & Magic who took the game nationally. He dominated the league unlike Lebron who only dominated the conference

You ain't never seen Michael Jordan score 8 pts in the Finals, Shannon. You ain't never seen MJ shoot 13 shots in a Finals game, Shannon. You ain't never seen MJ disappear in the Finals! I think that's enough said. There's a lot of great players. LeBron is amazing. But the "little" things make the difference, greatness is in those "little" things. A 2011 Finals perfomance like that - it's one of those little things that makes it impossible to call LBJ the GOAT.

The reason Lebron will never be seen as better than MJ is because of Phil Jackson. Spoelstra was a great coach but he's no Phil Jackson and Tyron Lue, at times, looks like he has no idea what he was doing. Lebron has had to continually lead his team basically by himself to the finals where the other teams are way better than any team MJ ever faced. The Warriors and the Spurs are two of the best teams ever. The Spurs won four championships together and (without even counting the one Duncan won in 99) and the warriors own the best record of all time, before they even got Durant, who will end up being, at least, at top 20 player of all time and is probably a better scorer than MJ. Lebron has had to deal with better team than MJ ever had to face and it's because Jordan had a good coach and a good organization where Lebron has had pretty bad ones. If Pat Riley had coached the heat instead of Spoelstra, not only would Lebron still be there, but I have no doubt he would have seven straight finals and be considered the best player of all time.

Agree with Rapaport's analysis. But the one thing I wish he had mentioned was Jordan's obsessive drive to win with the hand he was dealt. With the exception of only 4 starter players (Rodman, Longley Cartwright and Harper) on both 3 peat teams, everyone was home grown. And of those free agent/received starters, with the exception of Rodman, no one was an All-Star or exceptional at their position. Most were drafted by the Bulls. He didn't hop around looking for a super team. He took what he got and made every single player on his roster better. He didn't just make the team better with some arbitrary stat. He made every player on the roster pick up more than they could carry by scrimmaging with them, teaching them and testing them to be the best that they could be. James has never done that. His championships were won with made men: Wade, Bosh, Irving, Love and now with Davis. Bottomline: James finds (or receives) the pieces to win championships. Jordan grooms his pieces to win championships. Jordan= The GOAT

I also wish they would have mentioned the Bulls in 94-95 were 34-31 before MJ came back and finished strong with him at 13-4 and snuck into the 5 seed. They were struggling terribly in season 2 without him and wound up winning 72 games and another title the following yr with him, as well as the next 2, including playing without Pippen for 38 games in 97-98 and still winning 62 games and the title.

@@curtisjefferson778 you're a joker man😂😂😂. Lemme tell u some, did u know that it doesn't matter if wade and Bosh were far better scorer than pippen and rodman ever dreamed of, u gotta understand that scoring is not the only way to win. When lebron played with the heatles dwade made the all NBA 1st team once and Bosh none. Pippen was multiple time 1st team and rodman was the best rebounder in the game. Bosh ain't that good at rebounding the ball as rodman and while playing with lebron he was a offensive bust to me, averaging in his best heat season 18.7pts and 8reb; he ain't get more points and rebounds average then in his first season which is his best one. The problem which is hard to admit is that dwade and Bosh were already on a descending stage of their career. Matter fact LeBron won twice the MVP and the FMVP in the 2yrs they won. And idc if u say "Allen saved his legacy" the man (Allen) scored 0 points in game 7 and Bosh scored 0 either. LeBron had 37/12/4 but everyone give credits to ray Allen in that series because of a shot in game 6. Obviously was important but it was a shot, ppl seem like they forget what lebron did all along that series AVG 25.3/10.9/7, and 2 times dude had triple doubles including the one in game 6. But people saying Allen saved LeBron legacy, like nah bro LeBron saved his own legacy by himself having 32/11/10, u can't count out lebron for what he did because if it wasn't for him , the Spurs had their title in game 4 tho. What I'm saying is that Jordan had better player at that stage of their career, and better all around players like kukoc (HOF), like Kerr (best shooter at the time). And when Jordan won his first 3 rings w/o those guys he had Orace Grant, Paxson exc... Those teams were crazily good, matter fact pippen carried both the year Jordan wasn't there far in the PO. And talking about Phil Jackson wasn't a great coach, I bet if u left Doug Collins there for more years Jordan would've had like 40ppg and still 0 chips. Jackson came there and took those guys on school of "how to be a winner Michael", because Jordan wasn't considered a winner at the time. And then, people argue LeBron had more help, tell me how many players lebron played with were in all NBA 1st/2nd team while playing with lebron, and how many were in nba 1st/2nd team while playing with Jordan huh. Bro Jordan let the bulls win the championship don't mistake my takes, Jordan is 1of1 even though I'm a lebron fan, but he had always a better team and organization than lebron has ever dreamed of, and went against weakest team than them all the time. LeBron was always the underdog for 6 time he went to the final. The only time he had the best team were in 2011/2012/2013 and with the Lakers in 2020, and guess what he won 3 out of 4, plus against the best team ever as the gws in 2016.

You'd have to be stupid to think that playing in the NBA was harder than it is now. There is a MUCH higher level of competition now. People always talk about how Lebron conditions himself so well to where he can withstand the durability and longevity he does, but that doesn't just apply to him. In today's NBA you have to offer that kind of commitment to your body and health to even have a chance of playing basketball at a high level. Jordan competed against great like Stockton and Bird, who obviously did not have that same commitment and frankly don't have the skill level to come close to the NBA today. Lebron has been competing and dominating against world class athletes for 82 game stretches for 16 years!! This is while maintaining the longevity and durbality and dominating game in and game out!!! The NBA is only getting harder and more difficult as time goes by and Lebron is the standard for anyone moving forward. This makes him the GOAT imo.

When Jordan played, he also had to have a black belt in Kong Fu if he was even thinking about driving through the lane for a layup or a dunk... Because trust me, the other players at that time did have those belts and were more than willing to show you how they got them.

I've been saying, there's just a different admiration, respect and charisma when a player wins several championship with his original team or with 1 team. MJ was good, if not great when he was a rookie, Pippen and the rest who joined MJ as a rookie wasn't as good or great when they started. They all were pushed, inspired, bullied by MJ to get better and they got better as a team. LBJ, joined an already established great champion and an already established great player in D. Wade when he won his ring, then he also joined an already established great player in Kyrie Irving. LBJ hasn't won a ring where he helped the team grow and developed as a unit. It was always enhanced through adding other great superstars. Granted, MJ's 2nd 3peat was something similar when they added Rodman, but they were aging already at that time. Remove MJ on his 1st 3peat Bulls and remove LBJ on his Miami championship team, who do you guys think would win in that series if they play against each other? I'm pretty sure most of you would pick D.Wade & Bosh's Miami, over Pip & Grant's Bulls. Point is, Wade and Bosh was already stars, Wade was already a proven champion when LBJ won with Miami, while Pip only developed into a superstar within the Bulls

It's funny how you make it seem like Byron Scott, Worthy, and Magic were a Big 3. Byron Scott? Lmao. Guess who else was on that team? Tony Smith? Terry Teagle? Vlade Divac? Don't ever put the Magic Johnson's role players on the same line as KG, Pierce, Allen, & Rondo. Like LeBron, Magic carried a bunch of bums to the Finals. I've never seen MJ do it.

I'M NOT GONNA TALK ABOUT THE RINGS .6-0 AGAINST 3-5 . OR WHO'S BETTER UNDER PRESSURE. with the game on the Line. Or Stats ( pts, asts, rbs). LET'S TALK ABOUT WHO'S A BETTER DEFENDER . Jordan in 13 years , had 9 ALL-DEFENSIVE TEAM AWARD ? lebron in 15 ONLY has 5 ? Jordan won DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR . lebron Never has won that achievement. Jordan NEVER EVER was seen as a lazy defender in regular season let alone playoffs or Finals. As a matter of fact Chicago won the last Tittle (1998) Because not only Jordan shot over Russell but Jordan Defense on Malone. LOOK AT LEBRON DEFENSE THESE PAST COUPLE YEARS . It's getting to the point that even analysis and commentators during the playoffs or Finals are calling out lebron for his Defense. A lazy dude that don't wanna play defense. Look at the 2017 finals . And we got some bias and LEBRON'S fans ANALYSTS coming with a...oh ."he just saving some energy. ". LMFAO. !

William Doster Micheal Jordan- has Scotty Pippin by his side every single championship, and then gets the best rebounder and defensive big man, in the game at the time, as teammates. And wins 6.
Jordan had a great team, and a perennial All-Star Pippin, who is THE BEST Second Guy ever, by his side the whole time. Without Pippin, Jordan has the exact same finals record as LeBron.
