    I sat on this for the right day to appreciate the review. Great one my dude. I wish youd come back to streaming once in a while. I gotta get off my ass and start streaming again myself. Anyhow my dude, have a good one and I look forward to the next!

      Yeah it's been over two years since I've streamed. I think I'll make a comeback but I'll probably stream on UA-cam. Good to hear from you!

    I actually beat this game 100% like a decade ago. I actually had a great time on it. I didn’t think it was as bad as you said. The music for the dungeons is relaxing.

    I hope with the new breath of fire 1 patch, we see more 1/2 encounter, 2x experience patches for other worthwhile games.
    I remember this game having a very strong opening cinematic.

      Yeah, it does have a strong opening.

    I guess, everything shines it is not gold.
    The game was looking interesting to me too but.... when you are tasting a console catalogo that happens usually.

    I've played DO2 a few times. It's not quite soulless, IMO; it just suffers badly from artificially inflated difficulty. The first 60% or so of the game's story shows where the devs probably wanted the difficulty to be; but that remaining 40%... I feel like some producer played it towards the very end of the development cycle and was like, "Okay, it's good... But people like long RPG's and this is over too soon. Make it take 35% longer to finish. Oh, but no extensions! You still need to meet your rapidly approaching deadline." And the devs only had time to slow the end-game by buffing enemies, rather than adding content.
    Other than the difficulty spike, there's really not much wrong with the game when compared to other RPG's of the era. The encounter rate is high, but it's also just par for the course when compared to plenty of other popular RPG's like Breath of Fire 1&2, Phantasy Star 2, etc. The problem with DO2 isn't so much that it does something wrong; it's that it doesn't do anything particularly standout, either. It's the RPG equivalent of the kid in school that puts in *JUST* enough effort to pass, and no more.

      Haha great comment. Maybe "no soul" was harsh, but for me, it just didn't hit. Yeah it's not a bad game but it's also not a "good" game. Like you said, it barely passes.

    Nice review. I recommended you to play 8 bit, 16 bit and 32 bit RPG games on emulator. I own the physical copy RPG games but I played them on my phone to fast forward grinding and save where ever I want.
    I just finished playing Breath of Fire 4 on PS1 which was great game. I started with Breath of Fire 1 & 2 on SNES which I didn't played them before. Breath of Fire 3 & 4 on PS1, I played them before and I love them. My favorite one on compat and story is Breath of Fire 3. I have completed everything on this game. Breath of Fire 4 has good story and nice battle style. There's so many tutorials and guides for Breath of Fire series.

      I've only played and beaten Breath of Fire for SNES. I have the second game, which I will review at some point.

      Gaming on a phone is terrible. I’d rather play on a device made primarily for games like a console, PC or handheld.

      Yeah I do plan to review Illusion of Gaia and Terranigma. Both are some of my absolute favourite video games.

      @@RonManGaming I own a repo cart of it. I was pleasantly suprised, it looks just as good as the ol' Final Fantasy 3(6) snes version. Granted FF6 is still way better, but I did have fun with it. Although I have yet to beat it, so I can't give it a rating yet.

    When i played this,I like it at the start until the game forced you to stick with 1 playstyle at all,keep buffing and buffing until the bosses is beaten,as much i liked the game character model which looked great,the world and story is memorable enough for me

    • @RonManGaming
      @RonManGaming  9 місяців тому +1

      Yeah that's a good point; how the game makes you stick with one play style.

    Oof. Go ahead and review a game you know is good after this one. Looks like this one was a total slog to get through! I've never heard of it so when I saw you were reviewing it I thought maybe you found a "hidden gem." Thanks for suffering so we wouldn't have to, Ronman! Your reviews rock!

      Is a good game, doesn't' feel like a Chore and is interesting, Battle is simple but the sprites are good, and feels challenging when you rush too much.. and boss will Kill you. Also did i mention it has wonderful sprites ?? Is not Chrono trigger, and feels like an early SNES game, but would recommend.

      Hahaha yeah toward the end, you really just need to grind. I was surprised by the intense grinding because otherwise, the game moves pretty quickly.

  • @RetroRivals
    @RetroRivals Рік тому

    Yeah I'll definitely be skipping this one or I'll be telling Scott to skip it at very least. The idea that you can't move more than a few paces without enemies spawning would be infuriated. Don't get me wrong. I enjoy combat but I need to be able to make progress too.
