Puppy Training to Retrieve: First Retrieving Sessions

Puppy training to retrieve starts early than this with a balled up sock in the hallway. You will have seen us doing this if you watched any of our training series or early puppy videos. After that, we head outside and begin doing some simply retrieves. This video documents our first retrieving training sessions with Reign, starting at 16 weeks old. Every retriever puppy is different, and reading the dog and their reactions is very important.

Really grateful to see you working with Reign. Perfect timing for me, my girl is same age and appears to have a very similar personality and doing some the exact same things during training. Seeing you work through the scenarios is extremely helpful

Great video, very informative. Stupid question here; would letting her break in the toss help build desire and confidence. Once she’s all and mad about retrieves then teach her to release on command?
