I would recommend "the Story Girl" by Lucy Maud Montgomery. She is famous for "Anne of Green Gables", but she has so many other books. Love her.

I've been meaning to read some of her other books. I've heard Jane of Lantern Hill is also really good. Thank you for the recommendation! 🥰

I loved the Secret Garden so much growing up and of course, A Little Princess, Heidi's adventures with her grandfather, Pippi Longstocking, and there was this PBS show I think about the Matchbox Girl? that was something that stuck with me. Your first recommendation hit's a bit close I don't like reading books that have to do with Foster care and all that because of growing up in them though life seemed to turn out wonderful for the character now your recommendation The Harvester seems like something i'd really enjoy so have added that to my to reads list on Goodreads.

the Secret Garden is such a cozy, wholesome book. I love it so so much. I also read Pippi Longstocking when I was little. I was actually just thinking about her the other day and thinking I might want to re-read a couple of the books about her! Aww. I'm so sorry to hear that. 🥺 I totally understand how some books just hit way, way too close and it can be really difficult to finish them. I've had a few like that. Sending you a big virtual hug!! 😘 I hope you do read the Harvester! and there are several other Gene Stratton Porter books that are on my favorites list so if you like the Harvester, maybe see if she has any others that interest you.
