      Before I watch this I wanna ask you a question. I just got a 7950x3d and a 670e Hero. If I want to usb bios flash before I put everything together just to make sure my bios will be good for the new cpu and ram what do I need to plug in psu wise to do it? I'm thinking I just need the 24pin as I don't need to turn it on, but someone said I'd need the cpu power as well.

    • @MrDutch1e
      @MrDutch1e Рік тому

      @nucl3arboNg just assemble it and flash bios from within the bios. Old bios versions will post with x3d they just won't be optimized. I just did this with a b650e-i and 7800x3d that had a bios from like last October. Even if u wanted to do bios flashback you can just assemble everything and do it. The part about only plugging a few things in is really just for stores and stuff who offer the bios flash when you buy a board. Lastly if I was you I'd return that board and get an asrock board. ASUS, MSI are really still quite a mess when it comes to bios and xmp/expo. Asrock is the most well rounded for am5.

    • @Beefy-Tech
      @Beefy-Tech  Рік тому +1

      I'd say just install everything as normal and download the bios onto a USB from another pc and follow normal bios update as you won't be in danger while just sitting at a desktop screen regardless of bios version.
      If you want to flash BIOS, all you need is CPU and Mobo ppwer connectors plugged in.

      @MrDutch1e I was going to get a taichi but it didn't have a couple of requirements I wanted. I'll have some time to spare before everything gets here so was going to do it early. I did end up finding a video that detailed you do need the cpu power and 24pin to do this. I'm also using an Asus board currently so I like that I'm familiar with the bios.

    I don't think I ever saw the GPU frequency hitting or coming close to the 3200 mhz. Was usually around 2900mhz or sometimes hitting 3000mhz approximately. My undervolt is 1090mv with max freq 3000 and min 2500 with ram at 2600mhz. GPU consistently hitting 3000 and sometimes exceeding. It may be your ram overclock is high, reducing the cards power availability to hit higher clocks.

    • @Beefy-Tech
      @Beefy-Tech  6 місяців тому

      Nah fam, the card is wattage and temperature limited in a lot of the games. Either one of those 2 will keep it from hittimg max frequency. Regardless, the card isn't designed to hold max frequency, but rather to hold the highest frequency it can based on the power and heat it's working with.

    Thoughts on the supposed "AMDip"? I use a 5800X and was thinking of switching to Intel, but its hard to tell if the dip is real without having the resources to validate myself.

    • @Beefy-Tech
      @Beefy-Tech  Рік тому

      The CPU itself has a sortof "Dip" whenever it has to first load the cache, ull notice it in the odd game here and there, but under normal circumstances, it shouldn't ever happen in game past first loading up the game.
      Most games don't even have that issue, but some, such as NFS Unbound suffers from that initial stutter in the first 10 seconds of bring in the game.
      The 7900XTX is far more problematic though, and in fact is the sole reason some games aren't smooth.
      Dying light 2, Phasmophobia, and warzone 1 all seem to stutter due to the 7900xtx alone! Meaning AMD Gpu's still aren't the play if you want to play a variety of different games perfectly smoothly.

    Hey Beefy! I am currently running a 7900xtx with a 12700k + DDR4 B-die tuned at 3600 cl14, mainly playing Warzone 2. What would you suggest as the best upgrade-path for me? Change to AM5 with an 7800x3D+DDR5 or stay on intel 1700+DDR4 and just get a better CPU like the 13900k? I guess my 12700k is pretty much bottlenecking the 7900xtx, right? Would really appreciate your advise!

    • @Beefy-Tech
      @Beefy-Tech  Рік тому +1

      honestly, upgrading just the CPU on intel may not be worth it fam, as intel generally needs equally fast ram to be able to scale well. Without getting at least a ddr4 4000mhz bdie kit along with the 13900k ud be wasting your time and money!
      The 7800X3D would be awesome, but it is a far more expensive route than just upgrading CPU ofcourse! I was able to make a full CPU+MOBO+RAM+ Air cooler build for the 7800x3 for just about 900 Euro. If you buy smart, you can get a full ryzen platform upgrade for about 900-1000 USD, but itll be insanely huge gains over a 12700K + DDR4 3600 for sure, north of 60-100 more FPS in CPU bound scenerios.
      What you decide is best is up to you. I personally like to do full platform upgrades when I upgrade so I may notice a huge performance bump rather than deal with small incremental performance bumps though ;)

    Stop wasting time on RAM OC for 7000x3d....i have 7800x3d with EXPO enabled and a few tweaks on PBO and voltages ONLY. The voltages and lack of voltage is keeping these CPUs from reaching high FPS in CPU bound scenarios. I got proof for that from my own system ! PM me if u want to find out more. I also have a 7900 XTX Nitro+ Sapphire but with 7800x3d (way cheaper than 7950x3d) paired with Gskill 6000CL30 and I get in MW2 benchmark 494 AVG / 390 5% / 330 1% with untuned RAM on 1440p rez and FidelityFX CAS enabled (I have screenshot). I repeat, RAM tuning is not that serious, not even 4-5% difference vs stock EXPO.

    • @Beltronicsx
      @Beltronicsx Рік тому

      @@Beefy-Tech that small difference may as well be attributed to 7950x3d vs 7800x3d. 5.25 ghz vs 5.05. Did u do some tests withouth ram timings and subtimings tuning?

    • @Beefy-Tech
      @Beefy-Tech  Рік тому

      @@Beltronicsx the real world differences are barely noticeable in average FPS. I ran some tests, albeit in season 3, where I also tested 4800mhz vs 6200mhz fully tuned, and in Ashika averages were the same (while cpu bound in both scenarios) but the 1% lows were about 30FPS higher, meaning a fully tuned vs XMP kit is at best 10fps in the 1% lows.
      For the warsone 2 benchmark, xmp vs tuned is about 15 FPS (say from 500 to 515 equivalent difference)
      EDIT: forgot to mention my ram kit is a ddr5 7600mhz XMP kit, meaning only way to run it on Ryzen is to do full custom timings, but most generic 6200mhz M die kits can render nearly identical gaming performance to the A die kit I use.

    A die with 32 tFAW, 8 tRRDS?
    Whats your vdd and vddq?
    RRDS and FAW should go 4,16 easily,
    Also read to write should do 14.
    Since running dual ccd cpu it starts to be more beneficial to run 2:1 with a die @7200-7600 which works fine on 4 dimm board.

    • @Beefy-Tech
      @Beefy-Tech  Рік тому

      7800mhz isn't beneficial for gaming at 2:1 yet. 2 people in my Discord have run it at stable timings and saw identical FPS to 6400mhz 1:1 for gaming scenerios.
      Also, timings weren't done by me, but from my understanding the reasoning is for stability it's CL26 while also running 6400mhz, but I used the timings at CL28 with 6200mhz, meaning the odd timing such as Tfaw and trrds will be loose.
