    We learned these at school by repeating them again and again, like a song.
    It worked well as I remember all of them except "lie, lay, lain" . For some unknown reason, I don't remember having learned this one.

    • @SimpleEnglishVideos

      It's a really tricky one Lukasz, because the past tense of lie is lay! We're just done a survey on this and plan to make a new video about it.

    What I have found the most fascinating since my childhood when I started learning English is that irregular verbs, with all their irregularity , form groups by how they made the past form. It's not completely random. Like rise rose risen and drive drove driven, catch caught caught and buy bought bought, say said said and pay paid paid, tell told told and sell sold sold. There is some number but still a limited number of those irregular paradigms, that observation always seemed so exciting to me.

    Madam ,
    Could you please tell me which one is correct?
    Can we use interchangeably?
    1)His mother always worries about him.
    2)His mother is always worried about him.

    • @SimpleEnglishVideos
      @SimpleEnglishVideos  2 роки тому +2

      They are both correct, Mohamed. But the first statement, "His mother always worries about him" in the present tense has a more immediate sense of how his mother feels, where the 2nd statement implies a long term condition of his mother rather than something immediate resulting from some action on the part of the child.

    Hi Madam and sir ,
    Could do me a favour?
    Could you please tell me what is the difference between ?
    What is the nuance? What is the situation?
    Early and earlier
    Late and later
    1)he came to office early
    2)he came to office earlier.
    3)he came to class late.
    4)he came to class later.

    • @lindajack1391
      @lindajack1391 3 роки тому +2

      Later and earlier means there is a comparison. For example I came to the office later than usual or I arrived earlier than usual. You can say I arrived early or I arrived late without any comparison.
