One of my favorite videos as a kid. Looking back on it everything is so different. 175-195 still have their GTO-VVVFs, EBJ Union Station was called Dallas Union Station, Ledbetter was the blue line terminus and there were no LEDs. Such good times. Thanks for posting.
Former DART train operator 🙋🏾♀️ My favorite thing was operating the Green or Orange line coming into Victory Station at the same time as the TRE, trying to see who would birth their train first😄
Dallas Union Station is one of the best places for train watching, watching Union Pacific freights, TRE commuter trains, the Blue & Red DART rail trains. I travel Amtrak when I go to & from Dallas to visit my youngest son who lives in Carrollton. I get off Amtrak at Union Station, get my luggage, I buy a DART rail ticket, catch the Blue or Red Line train to West End or Akard station, transfer to the DART rail Green line to Carrollton Frankford station where my son picks me up and also takes me there when I return to my home outside Loser City Tucson,AZ.
Just to let you know F59-PH's are dominant on the TRE. They have 7 of those and 2 F59-PHI's. The RDC's were all they used until 2000-2001 when they got some of the current equipment. They put them out of service in 2011 when they lease then to DCTA, north of Dallas but they have come back. They don't use the RDC's anymore because they can't accommodate the ridership and with the installment of PTC they are gonna be done for good.
Oh yeah, I noticed that TRE currently uses only their F59's and Bombardier cars. That sucks to hear about the RDC not being able to come back to the TRE. Those RDC's were nice lookin cars. I was hoping for TRE to retrieve back their RDC's after DCTA got those new Stadler fleets, but oh well. I've heard those RDC's are pretty aging though. And as for DCTA's rolling stocks, those ex-TRE RDC's look wayyy better than those new European looking Stadlers IMO.
I agree with you on the fact that try look better than the current DCTA rolling stock. Next time I ride the TRE I'm going to ask about the RDCs to see what will happen to them, I hope at least a museum buys them or the TRE does special trips with them, which I doubt.
***** Yeah, hopefully those RDC's will be saved. That would be great if TRE does special trips with those units. Plus DCTA's current fleets have ugly horns while those old Budd RDC's have nice K3's.
Red LIne usually on time. Blue Line rarely on time and dangerous especially in Garland. Be very careful as there is never security on these trains. Also, early morning, you have to wake up riders who think they are in a moving hotel.
Dude remember the DART train wreck in 2014? It was brutal aswell.. Those poor engines... At least there hasn't been a case of DART or TRE crashed today
veronica massey for the F59-PH, there's 120, 121, 122, 123, 124, 125, and 126. For the F59-PHI, there's 569 and 570. For the cabcars, there's 1002, 1003, 1004, 1005, 1006, 1007, 1008, and 1009
Thanks! I would definitely try to find a non-QZ crossing if I happen to railfan the TRE corridor the next time. Dallas Union Station is also a nice place to get actions from TRE, DART light rail, Amtrak TX Eagle, and UP. Some UP trains there occasionally have foreign powers

Did you know the whole DCTA line is a QZ? They only blow the horn coming into the stations and passing work crews.
There is a video in UA-cam that has footage from when the TRE only had RDCs.
