I have the same scales on all my ESEE knives and I absolutely love them! Very comfortable, great grip with a fantastic palm swell. OG green with orange liners are the way to go. 👍
I wish I could afford one of them because they are awesome knife. They just keep going, as long you keep going. Take care and be safe sir. See you on your next video sir.
Great video! Thank you for making it! Product Idea: ESEE Laser Strike aftermarket scales that end 1/8 of an inch in front of the lanyard hole. You end up with a full size handle but get an exposed pommel. I did this with my Dremel and it's awesome. I don't know why someone in aftermarket world hasn't produced something similar.
ESEE intends the knife to be user modifiable. That is why the micarta handle scales are blocky. A few years ago, I emailed ESEE about rounding over the bottom of the handle for a more comfortable grip. They replied that different people will prefer different handle shapes.
I like that you showed us the weight & balance differences, not alot of other guys know to show that. I'm also glad it still fits in the stock kydex, ESEE makes some of *the best* kydex sheaths on the market. The only things I wish they did differently was give us some color options, other than black (Dark Earth/Coyote/OD Green), and also give us some milled slots (which you could probably mod yourself, so no biggie), like SURVIVE! KNIVES does, which make my favorite sheaths..but I believe they're both made by the same outside company. That being said, ESEE's kydex is still too nice for me to replace, so I'm stoked it still fits the TKC scales, nicely done!
I thought the weight would be an interesting data point. This knife seems to hit all the right points and would make a nice stout backpackers blade... So I figured weight might be a worthy note! Thanks for watching!
@Outer Limitless I've gone through a fair amount of ESEE's, but the LS has now achieved the honor of being my 2nd favorite lol, E6 being my #1. The only thing i wish it had is a hammer pommel, but other than that it's perfect. Definitely plan on getting those scales too, they'll look so good against the Coyote coating. I have the same ones on my Dark Earth E6 and it looks *dope AF!*
I will say that. On my Esee 3 kydex that I had purchased from the knife connection had cracked from having the new g10 scales on. That part bummed me out. And have now gone back to the original thermoplastic sheath that came with my Esee 3.
Amazing knife. Washer is meant to be used to unscrew the handle BTW. I think u should absolutely keep it on sheath. Only modification on mine was grinding the back of the blade square to be able to scrap ferorod effortlessly. Thanks for the review!
i wonder if you could fit a small fishing kit and a small water purification kit in the handle too, I am looking on the knife conection and thinking about pulling the trigger on the laser strike too.
Really turned off by the TKC lack of attention to detail. I was going to order a few sets of scales in the near future for a few esees but now I’m second guessing. Good video - thanks for this review. Looking forward to the next out of doors video with Joe.
I haven't yet bought any scales from em, but I have bought from TKC several times. They are one of my very favorite places to get knives and accessories and they are good people. Great customer service and pricing.
Came across your video today and this is awesome. One question…I heard in another video that you can’t actually spark a ferro rod with this blade without modification. Did you find that to be the case? If so can you go over what modifications would need to be done to actually make use of the fire starting material in the handle if I only had the knife (with the internals) and nothing else?
A touch risky if you don't know what your doing however kydex is just thermoplastic... So apply heat to where you think it's tight and try to get a better fit. Try a carefully directed hair dryer
I feel like zero thought went into designing these. I really dislike how they ground into the orange liners in the front and by the lanyard holes. The color combination looks great though
The washer also works as a striker for the ferro rod.
I actually prefer Micarta over G 10……
I have the exact setup on mine. Laser Strike is on my top 3 favorites of all time.
I like the after market scales, especially because it’s designed to fit in those esee arrowheads.
FYI the arrow head shaped cutout under the G10 scales is for the ESEE spearhead it a very nice add on

Yeah man! I thought of you as I was installing these. Wish I thought to give you a shout out!

Great video. I had no idea they included the steel and tender inside…bonus!
Did I miss it…what was the final weight with extra tender added?

I got the same color scheme g10 scales for my Esee 3. They're ok I guess. I like my extended scales for my 4 alot more though. Good video man

The washer can also be used as a Ferrowrod striker.
What did you use to grind the spine?

I would have to test it... I think the coating is thick and softens the edges. You'd need to square the spine which is fairly easy.
@@outerlimitless thanks for someone that has done no knife modding is there a tutorial video to look at? What would I search for?
I want this knife but honestly I rather keep the OG Scales . TKC has their scales priced at $52 now YIKES.
But a laser strike without the scales is 50$ so the original grips are $50 as well. You can buy the knife without scales at knife connection
@DeffoZappo Yeah but ya don't get the sheath.
The Keydets sheath that came with my LS is too tight. How can I loosen that up some? The screw with the rubber Asher is already loose.

Just weigh the scales and hardware for each set Duh!
Nice screwdriver! Lol
geeze .. did your mommy cut the crust off your bread ? ..
Not sure what you're referring to. But she might have... I don't recall.
