Thank you for this video! Why is it necessary to use the pre-stain?

@@bethanyweeksmcclure9271 you're welcome! You probably don't need the pre-stain, but being a rule follower, I felt the need to buy it and use it when I saw it next to the stain at the store 🤣. They got me!

I took 320 grit to balsa wood and it CRUMBLES under the fine grit. I ended up doing 6 hundoe on the surface and doubling & tripling up the boards for sanding the edges. I💜U

Oh wow! I didn't realize it would crumble at that Grit. Glad you were able to find a solution that worked for you.

@@vascotoys depends on which wood you get and from where.

I'm going to finish a Hobby Lobby, maybe balsa, box to be used as a gift box. After stain, should I use a finish coat of something such as a clear poly?

I didn't, but I think you totally could do that if you wanted to.

Could u sand the balsa wood before you cut them into the strips so that way you could have the vertical and horizontal wood have the “correct” line detail I think you were trying to get

I think you totally could. I just didn't think to sand it before cutting it. Good idea!
