    2 large apples! 1 cucumber! I/2 inch of ginger! (Gives a kick) and two leaves of Kale! Its a mean green flushing machine!

    I stopped juicing because they are such a mess to clean up and not worth the hassle. I just use a big blender and mix in an apple, banana, orange, spinach, a few cubes of ice, and fat free yogurt. It's thick, but it keeps you feeling full for a while.

    Shay don't grind the apple in whole... The seeds can kill you if you keep doing that for a long period of time. Please like so he can see

      the sead go somewhere else in the blender it would be chunky if it was all going in their i use one u just dump the rest of the stuff thats in their in the trash

    I absolutely love "green lemonade" which is a 2 cups of spinach, 3 stalks of kale, 1 lemon, 1 cucumber, and 2 medium apples. MMMM MMMM mmm!!!

    My husband did it for 14 days but it was only in the morning and eating healthy. He blended Pineapple, grapefruit, spinach, cucumber, celery, and a piece of ginger. It really works! He lost about 8-10 lbs. try it shay!

    I make juice as well !! For juice I squeeze lemon to make lemonade , then add blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, pineapple , mango , homemade fresh mango sherbet !
    I make it for a dinner drink , but my friend uses it as a juice cleanse and in three days lost 12 pounds !!

    Hey Shay! I recently started taking the behavioral med Adderall a little over a month ago and I lost 10 pounds. Adderall causes me to eat a lot less which is how I lost the weight. 2 years ago I lost 40 pounds through diet and exercise. Losing weight the right way as opposed to not eating is significantly different! I don't feel nearly as good as I did when I lost the weight through diet and exercise. So good on you for always being healthy with your weight loss. Good job, shay!!

    I am 12 and I am not doing the full juice diet but I am just havering juice unstead of other foods just like that. For breakfast this morning I had beat, apple, carrot, a full orange, half a lemon, chia seeds, cocoanut water, and your thing of doing whole blueberries. In my opinion it filled me till a late lunch time and then I have a light lunch with a small juice of carrots and apples. Now I am feeling fresh and light. I am going to continue this diet instill the holiday just because I need to be ready for all that holiday food. Hooray for juice!!!!!!!!

      Please do be careful with fasting. You are young and growing and you may not be getting all your body needs from juice alone. If you want to juice try to at least have one or two solid healthy meals. And doing it until Christmas is not healthy at all especially for a young person. Just eat healthier and try to be more active and watch what you eat for Christmas and you will be just fine. Stay safe and healthy. :-)

    I am a crazy picky eater. I dont eat fruit... and barely any vegetables....I know I know!!! I dumb! my parents always yell at me but Im stubborn. but this juice thing is literally making me want to try this, my biggest issue with fruits and vegetables is the texture, but if I can still eat the foods without really chewing it, this might be my answer, thank you shay!! keep up the good work! so inspiring!

    I sooo want a Vitamix!
    I REALLY need to do more smoothies (don't have a Juicer)
    Last year when I did primarily smoothies for my meals,
    I managed to lose ALOT of weight and felt really, really good.
    But life-crap and depression set in, and my diet went to hell.
    Now I'm all fat and sore again - BLAH!
    Gotta get back to it... :D

    I would definitely add some kale and cucumber. It's delicious and you can put them in the juicer whole. It's absolutely delicious

    A wonderful way to eat chia is chia pudding! Add soy milk and a teaspoon of honey to the chia, let chill for 15 min and toss in some blueberries! Super food overload!

    2 of my favs
    For the morning I like a sweet juice boost that's quick and easy. 3 carrots and fruit of your choice, I prefer orange pine apple mix and sometimes a little ginger (1/2)
    Lunch or Dinner
    6 Kale leaves (green green green)
    3 stalks of celery
    1 lime
    1/2 ginger
    3 green apples
    Green machine!
    The first 2 days were the hardest for me, but after that I was good to go. It's actually hard to eat a large meal after juicing, or so it was for me... So that was also a plus. I did it for 2 reasons, I'm 32 with MS and to help get rid of the toxins to be as healthy as I can! I only did it for one week straight and I like one as a snack now and then. I hate veggies so this is a great way for me to get those veggies in by tricking my taste buds!

    I do a juice in the morning that is really cleansing but not as sweet because I think its good to keep a balance of vegetables as well. It tastes better than it sounds but I do one good sized cucumber, a head of romaine lettuce, a good amount of kale, a few stalks of celery, 2 green apples, and a lime (the whole thing).

    I'm not doing a juice cleanse however we make juice daily and our favorite is spinach, apples, ginger root (small piece goes a long way), cucumbers, and carrots!!! We also love juicing pomegranates! They taste like koolaid!

    One of my favourite juices of all time is this: 4 pears, 1 lime (with the skin on), and some fennel (just a little is enough for this) and maybe some water in there to curb the taste a little bit. It has an amazingly refreshing taste and is great for mornings. Sometimes I add a little pineapple for an extra kick.
    Also not to be all "uptight" or anything but I think the entire point of the juice cleanse is to get rid of the fibres in the fruit and veg for faster absorbtion and digestion (that's how it cleanses) but whatever works for you! You may not be getting a full cleanse (esp on 5 days, usually 10 days is ideal!) but as long as you enjoy it that is all that matters.

    Hey shay I have been on a Primarily juice/raw fruits/vege diet for about 5 weeks. I eat around 90-95% fruit/vege I own a Wheatgrass company (so I make my employees juice for me lol) I make a large array of juices for all different nutrients. I always check up on myself to make sure I am not lacking of nutrients.
    One of my favorite juices to make that tastes great and is very healthy.
    - Fresh Pineapple juice
    - 6-8oz of wheatgrass juice (I would suggest less if you are not a normal wheatgrass drinker maybe 2-3 oz at most)
    - Fresh mint leave juice (it only takes a few drops to get a lot of flavor)
    - I then add Fresh beat and carrot juice
    - you can replace the Pineapple with apples. But no citric fruits! you are never aloud to mix citric fruits with wheatgrass!
    (if you wanted to shay I could give free shots of wheatgrass to Shayloss fans who live in my area)

    My favorite juice is from Kris Carr's cookbook. It's called Morning Glorious. It's 1 cucumber, 3 stalks of celery, 1 green apple, half a lemon, a handful of romaine and a handful of kale. (She also has some broccoli stems but I don't put those in.) Super yummy.

    Have a similar juicer at home, and have started to drink juice daily in the morning. Apples, oranges, celery, carrot and kale. Mmmm. To thicken it up and make it more filling, you could also use oats if you don't like the gelatinous consistency of chia seeds.

    Shay we add coconut water to all our juices or smoothies. I also make a smoothie a day for the kids full of blueberries, raspberries, banana, chia, spinach, raw honey and coconut water. Another is juiced carrot and apple added to a smoothie of banana, raspberries, chia and coconut water. The options are endless and depend on your taste preferences. A simple one just raspberries, chia and banana, raw honey with coconut water. Give these to the kids just before they get the urge to snack and it fills them up with goodness instead.

    My 13 yr DS is a very very picky eater.Hates hates veggies. I worry about him not having a balanced diet and long term health problems that can occur. Last week I tried juicing with him. This is the main juice I can get him to drink: 1 bunch of kale, three cucumbers peeled, half a head of romaine, 3-4 granny smith apples, a bunch of baby spinach, and three lemons. makes a large amount but my DH, myself and DS drink this juice and sometimes DD#2. DD#1 is off to university so she is missing out. lol I am going to slowly introduce other veggies to his juice repertoire such as carrots, beets, celery. Have to take it slow with this boy of mine, he is very very wary and anxious of new foods. And I might add this is a supplement to his daily food intake, at age 13 I will NOT replace any of his meals with just juice.
    Keep it up Shay. Doing awesome. Will have to try your juice/smoothie soon. Looks yummy.

    Juice Kale and spinach for Iron! and omg Shay PLEASE buy organic apples. If you only buy one thing organic, buy apples organic. The other apple that are shiny with the wax coating have an insane amount of pesticides and washing them off doesn't help much because the pesticides drain into the apple through the top. I'm only telling you because you're my favorite person on the internet! And I care :-)

    Yesterday I made cranberry apple juice. Its a bit tart but I liked it! Doing a juice cleanse is definitely not bad for you. You are getting a lot of nutrients. I also use chia seeds, spinach, and kale in mine.

    After watching these recent videos I looked into juicing (and getting a juicer) because it was something that appealed to me. However, as a microbiologist I've been trained to look at scientific studies, in this case concerning juicing as a potential health benefit. Admittedly, there haven't been a lot of publications on it as it's a relatively new "fad diet" that has cropped up over the past few years, but the studies that have been done show no marked increase in health benefits of juicing compared to eating whole fruits and veggies. In fact, tons of nutrients are contained in the skin and pulp of these foods, and these aren't transferred normally into the juice (unless you have an expensive juicer that can do it, or you blend them up and put them in yourself, or you use these by-products in other foods - I read that some put them in muffins, for example). Furthermore, there is also no indication that juicing cleans out the body's "toxins" - in a healthy individual the liver, kidneys, and peristalsis of the GI tract do that just fine. Lastly, long-term juice fasts (~6 weeks) have been known to cause oxalate nephropathy. Oxalate is a molecule, that if ingested in high amounts, can damage the kidneys. Oxalate is found in many fruits, veggies, and nuts commonly contained in juices. When one is on a strict juice fast and taking in nothing but these foods, oxalate levels can build up faster than the secretion system of the intestine can handle it and oxalate is transferred into the circulatory system where it is metabolically unreactive. Ultimately, it damages the kidneys when they try to remove it from the bloodstream. For someone that is doing a juice fast for a short period of time, like Shay, there is little risk of this happening, but it is worth noting for those that may desire to juice for a longer period of time (a month or more), there are serious potential health risks that have been documented in the scientific literature.
    Shay rightfully gives the disclaimer that he isn't a doctor, and neither am I, however I think it is wise, and I strongly urge everyone who has tried juicing or who is considering it, to consult the scientific literature about its efficacy before you go out and buy an expensive juicer.

    HEY SHAY!! I LOVE juicing, so I thought I'd give you two of my favorite recipes! Try to stick to vegetables because they generally have less sugar and more fibre which is important when that is the only thing your body is consuming for 5 days. This first one is a great detoxifier for your body and is one of the best juices (in my opinion) for losing weight.
    1/2 lemon
    2 apples
    1/2 Tbsp of juiced ginger (you can just throw a chopped piece in there that's about the size of an eraser)
    1-2 Tbsp of cayenne pepper depending on how hot you can take it! CAYENNE IS GREAT FOR WEIGHT LOSS BECAUSE IT RAISES YOUR INTERNAL BODY TEMPERATURE WHICH CAUSES YOU TO SWEAT! It's also a great antioxidant, and full of vitamins!
    This next one is radical for slow mornings, and it'll fill you up!! It's full of fun stuff like fibre too.
    1 beet
    1/2 cup chopped pineapple
    4 kale leafs (more if you'd like)
    1 carrot
    1 celery stick
    4 strawberries
    1/2 lemon
    Also, if you'd like to make your juices thicker, add an avocado and blend everything together! It might sound kind of weird, but they taste great in smoothies!
    Lastly, chia seeds taste even better when you let them sit over night in coconut water! The little seed will absorb as much water as it can, and then gets a jelly layer on its outside, so they're super fun to eat/drink! Just add that in to your drink, and I'm sure all of your kids will love it!!
