If you have watched Kane throughout his career, he thrives when there is pace around him, not when he has 3 number 10's. If you want to play Trent in midfield, you'd look at Trent at Liverpool and think, he loves that switching play cross field pass and sees it early and executes it - but don't play him and then not give him a runner on the left side. It's very frustrating. It's almost as if the side he's picked for the first two games are designed not to work with each other. This is what you get when you set up not to lose. And not trusting your team if they go a goal down. The fear of failure always exudes England teams and that comes from the constant cycle of building the team up too much beforehand and knocking them down too much afterwards.
one of the best comments ive seen balanced unlike the team.. it is sobering to find out you tube commenters seem to have a better grasp of the situation than gareth . he seems to have learn nothing ..gone backwards .is bizarre .
Honestly Southgate is the number 1 issue. The guy has half the Man City team, Kane, Rice and Bellingham, and we are playing relegation type football. The entire squad plays elite pressing, Champions League football every week but as soon as Gareth gets a hold of them it's mid-table League 1 fare. I wouldn't be surprised if the players start tuning him out.
Man City’s most important player is Rodri as shown by their win percentage without him, England don’t have Rodri or anyone like him who controls the game
Who are "half the city team??? I can only think of 3 .. I'm going to go away and check but I'm racking my brains and still only get 3 in the whole squad !! Ok been away and checked and I'm still at 3 so unless man city have started playing 5 aside with only one sub then your well off the mark pal😂😂
The first game it was a no-brainer for Palmer or Gordon to replace Foden, he wasn't getting in the attack so what do you have to lose, it's not like you need Foden on for his defensive ability, just bringing a player on for fresh legs alone was reason enough for the change. I was disappointed in Eze when he came on in the second game though, he just seemed to stroll around.
@John_Greektrue, but Bayern were awful against the bigger teams and got battered by Leverkusen. We can’t carry him against the biggest teams, he has to contribute to the press.
Watkins is unbelievably good, he could easily be at a top club. Reminds me of Firmino but a better finish. The way he links play, makes good runs, presses from the front. He is top top quality. So to sub him on for Kane is not much of a step down.
I feel he need to drop Kane and play Gordon too, they are the two changes I'd like to see, pace and players who will press and Gordon will help out trippier too.
In simpler terms, Southgate is not the solution for England's football team. He is more suited to being a diplomat rather than a football manager. England needs a strong and fierce leader, which Southgate is not.
strong - definitely, fierce - maybe, but we definitely need someone who can react to the oppositions dominance while it is happening and not after 25-30 mins of suffering. (Italy - Euros Final, Croatia WC semi-final). Picking the right team to begin with is paramount!
Gary keep them cameras rolling when your all the vino at 2 am Top show love it , love your all you’re real personalities and humour coming out that we wasn’t allowed to see in the past
Great discussions. I‘m waiting each day for the next one to come out. Like you guys, I‘ve followed England for over 40 years & would love to see them finally win something. I also don‘t want to criticise the England team. Its the same story every tournament: they get talked up, they are amongst the favourites & fail to deliver. I wish someone would just tell them to go out & enjoy it. Relax, enjoy it & do what you do best. Maybe then they could play to their potential Keep the podcasts coming please, loving them ❤🎉
They don‘t look like they‘re having much fun tbh. They look terrified in the way they play. Of course tactics need to change but also mentally they need to change in my view
Brilliant! Thank you guys! The fact I find interesting is if Gareth DOES go with the team you've all been suggesting, Jude and Foden down the centre of the team, and Gordon Saka wide, you've then got like for like replacements across the WHOLE team! Palmer comes on for Foden, Eze comes on for Gordon, Watkins etc for Kane. TAA for Walker etc. VERY EXcited to see them play that team if they do against Serbia Come on England!
I'm just going to say it right now....I really really hope when Southgate leaves (If he actually does) that the players come out and actually say it was his tactics and not the players. I mean when they asked Gareth is it his tactics he point blank said NO....throwing the players under the bus....
This is the state of English football under the management of Gareth Southgate, These comments come from Harry kane, his own Captain ! “We’re struggling both with and without the ball, We’ll have to go away and look at it. The pressure in both games hasn’t been right. We are starting games well but when teams are dropping a few players deeper, we’re not sure how to put the pressure on and who’s supposed to press." Shocking state of affairs for a national football team !
Kane should be starting the press, he barely moves, jogs about and runs deep to receive the ball, then we have no options upfront. It's all just tactically shit.
These are top professional footballers who have been playing football for years from school to clubs to England. They have been coached all their lives. And football has not changed nearly all teams look like a Klopp team and a Pep team or a cross between the two. Nowadays it more about how brave are the player on the ball. So they should have some input into how they play
Everyone keeps saying how good England were in the first 30 mins against Serbia. The reality is Sebia sat back and allowed England space. After the goal Serbia came out to attack and then England struggled. All the talk before the tournament was about how to break down defensive teams. Other teams have looked at England's recent, pre-tournament games, and are taking advantage. Slow, negative.
You never hear many England fans saying how good England are ,we all know they’re rubbish our decent players are playing on the backs of good foreign players we’ve known that for years
Greetings from Frankfurt - moved here from the UK 5 years ago and it's a great part of the world, glad to hear you enjoyed your time here (even f the game was awful)
I'm not usually one for complaining about mentality or effort, and think it's usually incorrect when people criticize them. But something is deeply wrong about the England setup and mental approach. I don't think I've ever seen a team that so consistently collapses after taking a lead. Most teams get a lift after scoring, we slump. It's as if fear of success overwhelms the players and coach.
Exactly this, they are mentally fragile. But England always have been, and now they have a serial loser as the Captain. England won’t win anything when Southgate leaves either, but seems people need to see it to believe it.
The best managers do not want to manage international sides unless it’s a last job before retirement. That is why we have Southgate. He has never won ANYTHING as a manager. Unless something changes, we’ll hire another D-list manager like him. I’d rather we lose and have a f***ing go rather than play this turgid football style where the players all look like they’ve never met each other.
They love there country why not,Southgate has the best squad of players we have had in years and he don't get the best out of any of them, Southgates way go in front and then sit back and keep what we've got,to neagtive, best managers never to be given the England job,Brian Clough, Harry rednapp, present got to get man city boss in pep 🏴🏴🏴💛💚🏆
If, as Southgate says, we "haven't replaced Philips", then he'd better change his tactics so that this doesn't make any difference with the team he has. Incredible piece of bad communication from him.
Genuine question for the panel. Obviously there's more opinions from ex pros these days and possibly the players read less papers, watch less analysis....but, from when you played/managed/coached, have you any stories about a time when a pundits views impacted what a squad or player did going forward? Have any of the comments ever landed with players and helped them or has it never had an affect to your knowledge?
One of the best squads of players we’ve had in decades but unfortunately leaderless, Southgate is totally out of his depth. With a top class manager England could be winning tournaments, but it’s never going to happen with Southgate in charge.
It is so much better watching these guys talk like they normally would talk. They sound human, but you still get the insights and expertise and experience. Funny to hear a slice of Alan's life..."Shearer, Shearer!" That would drive me crazy, but I guess it's all in good jest. Michah and Gary after some wine was also good. Rarely do we see football stars normalized. Even the Man City doc on Netflix made them all out to be angelic super stars. It doesn't work like that. We all went to school to good football players. I played with a couple of ex pros in Asia, and by God, could they drink and curse :) I love these down to Earth formats and I am sure 99% of the viewers do.
Can we substitute the manager - I was so looking forward to the Euros as a distraction from the election campaign but what is happening is a painfully similar shambles.
Love watching you guys on this podcast, informal, honest and funny. What is always good is your own experiences in previous tournaments. I have to say and I said it when Southgate arrived that he's a safe manager who won't say boo to a goose!! Can you see Klopp or Pep playing like this!! The players don't have respect for him that's evident. They will go out in the second round
Teams worked out a long time ago that we are not good enough at the back if pressed to get the ball out, added to that we stand off the opposition all over the pitch, even an average pro can look good if given time and space to play. The players we have maybe rely on others to do all the donkey work in their club teams, possibly the only ones we have is Wharton/Gallagher who will do that role selfishly for the benefit of the team, Gallagher is a bit clumsy in the tackle though. Still need other players in positions where they are comfortable and confident.
i came across a highlights reel of connor and hes bloody brilliant as a maruading midfielder and bangs in great goals , not really a digger but because england dont have any hes got the task . i mean really gareth should have worked out that with the players hes got .he should be just going balls out attack a la keegan style .wellscore more than you .but he cant ,hes just too scared .careful and fa instituitionilzed . its just not in him ,i think hed be physically sick if he saw the team bombing on for 90 mins . imagine the excitement though of an end to end england winning 3.2 or 43 / or even if they got beat 3.4 it would be better than going out with a wimper
These players press week in week out... They play possession football week in week out... They play mid block or high lines week in week out... They play in certain positions/areas week in week out... They build out week in and week out... CLEARLY the coach"s instructions are to do none of those things. Stop putting bulk of the blame on the players.
I think the players have to take a lot of the blame. because at the end of the day, they are the ones playing the game. Not doing their job not playing as a team. Because football is a team game

Excellent analysis. One thing I would add is that even if we concede as a result of pressing up the pitch, that’s still ok, we still have the talent to score and win the match

It’s easy to criticise but our players have been mainly playing off the cuff in tournaments since Hoddle left. I saw an interview with Shearer recently and he said during one game in Euro 96 Terry Venables changed the system three times in one game.
unless Southgate suddenly becomes a master tactician overnight then unlike Linaker I get no comfort from the fact that England will be in the knockout stages as they will get humiliated by whoever they meet. The players need to take matters into their own hands and manage themselves as Southgate is clearly not qualified to manage a team beyond the under 12s. If england are to win the euros then they will have to do it in spite of Southgate.
In reality we are missing key roles in the team. A true leader and organiser, a creative mildfielder that can control the tempo of the game. A striker that can run in behind and push the oppositions defence back creating space in the middle of the park for our creative players.
Why do we insist on playing 1 striker? If kane drops we would still have an out ball with another striker. Also Bellingham does not want to pass to foden early or at least when he calls for it.
Yes exactly, if Kane wants to play 10, play him at 10 and have Watkins/Toney as a 9. But that would mean Southgate having some balls and dropping someone, so we know he'll never do it.

Unbalanced selection. No natural left sided player and slotting TAA in. Guaranteed failure. And Southgate's post match comments about missing Phillips says it all. He's out of his depth, always has been.
@Dibbdroid England play 4231, but the left side of the defense (Shaw and Maguire) was injured. Also the left sided forward (Sterling Grealish Rashford) didn't make the squad. Rice's partner in midfield, either Phillips or Henderson, didnt play sufficiently well to be selected.
It's always great on this podcast to see the verbal punches that you have to hold back on during TV let lose. Also the wine situation on Thursday. But to be serious, I think it doesn't matter whose on the bench for England, the best that happens is they replace player. At worst, send deeper down the field towards defense
Trent. You can't defend his tournament performance so far as being good. It's not like he's the only one playing under par and he's brilliant at RB inverting at times for Liverpool. Us none Liverpool fans are not saying Trent is a poor player, simply that his inability to go on the half turn matters too much at this level. Man Utd aren't even going turbo on Kobbie, let's be fair, this staunch defence is a bit silly now. Me personally, I'd put Wharton sitting, Rice box to box and leave the rest as is and just get 10 yards further up the pitch. Wharton finds a pass through the lines like Carrick did and frees up Rice and Bellingham who are our most well rounded players to choose whether to attack or defend more; if we aren't gonna be given a tactical plan at least give us the chance of the most balance!
Very much agree other than maybe dropping foden for Gordon for width and getting in behind as trippier offers none as a right footer just doing a job for us. Nothing against trips in saying that, he isn’t a left back. But then foden played a lot better against Denmark, hit post, had the turn and shot early on. Difficult decisions but we have solutions. Just got to hope Southgate sees the right one as it looks very bleak atm
The worst thing is not the first half performance, but that nothing changed in the second half. What kind of manager cannot adapt to the tactics of the opposition? What were they doing at half time after that shambles? A good manager would have changed things immediately to counter Denmark's tactics.
Listening to Alan and Gary it's all true and makes perfect sense. But let's be honest, most supporters have seen this ever since Southgate came in, but previous tournaments it seemed that all of the pundits had agreed not to criticise the manager. Only a strong character within the playing squad can change this because our manager certainly won't
You'd think given he's such an expert on the plight of Refugees from North Africa he'd at least know the difference between the countries they come from
GL…did you once say in an interview that in italia ‘90 the players led a little revolt on the pitch & changed the manager’s tactics? Do you think that’s what is needed here? For some reason Gareth seems to be stifling the natural abilities of those players
I genuinely think England should sack Southgate now and bring in a temp replacement. They don’t need a coach, they need a rouser, someone like Redknapp and Stuart Pearce would give England a much better chance.
These are international players, they don’t need coaching. It’s a mentality thing that’s the problem. They need a manager who will relax them, release the shackles and tell them to go out and have a go. Football isn’t about coaching at this level,, it’s about mindset.
@@MathewParker-by4nx Mathew I’m sorry, but with peace and love, that’s delusional. At this level, football is about mindset AND coaching, more than ever. Tactically, Southgate has been outclassed in both games. He’s playing Trent when all of our forward players come to feet and never run in behind. Makes no sense. This guy plays in a Liverpool team with constant movement and runners. The front four press on their own, and the rest of the team are 20 yards behind not pressing at all. So Denmark and Serbia build-up through our press with ease, countless times. Harry Kane even said it in his interview after the game, that they didn’t know how to press. These are all TACTICAL problems.
Kane too lazy, rice no skill, pickford can't play out from the back ,trippier no left leg, saka no right leg , stone average player, foden too greedy, Bellingham diver .team full of average players to win euro??? Not a chance.
I have a theory about the offside rule and V A R. In this competition it’s shown a V A R screen version with a transparent thin vertical line, showing offside with a hand being furthest forward, offside for response time yet the feet were in line, no advantage by distance. Surely if a footballer voted on whether offside should be on furthest foot to goal, or any part of the body, they would vote foot right! not to penalise reactions but actual distance, V A R thin vertical line view showing the feet of offending player in front it’s a slam dunk. So why have an original or adapted rule that leaves so many disappointing offside decisions, over what should be, is a better response time and a fantastic goal not being disallowed.. Surely it’s good essentially for football , offside if anything would be by the feet and modern V A R has pointed out that they’re wrong, thoughts ?

It's difficult to understand how and why Southgate decides his initial teams and setup. There are two different factors in picking a side and a style of play. At an individual player level, you're analysing a player's skill, technique, footballing IQ, fitness, passing ability, pace, whether he can carry the ball, whether he can receive and play it under pressure. And then you analyse the player within the team model. What are the other players around him in his club side doing that helps him be successful? What are his responsibilities? Honestly Southgate is the number 1 issue. The guy has half the Man City team, Kane, Rice and Bellingham, and we are playing relegation type football. The entire squad plays elite pressing, Champions League football every week but as soon as Gareth gets a hold of them it's mid-table League 1 fare. I wouldn't be surprised if the players start tuning him out.
Man City’s most important player is Rodri as shown by their win percentage without him, England don’t have Rodri or anyone like him who controls the game
What 3 players?😂
Who are "half the city team??? I can only think of 3 .. I'm going to go away and check but I'm racking my brains and still only get 3 in the whole squad !! Ok been away and checked and I'm still at 3 so unless man city have started playing 5 aside with only one sub then your well off the mark pal😂😂
Well he did manage Middlesbrough
@@mikeryan4055I think it was meant to be an over exaggeration

Shearer
Imagine not at the very least bringing on Cole Palmer for a single second in either game. Absolute joke of a manager
The only good sub he's made is Watkins for Kane in the last 2 games
There’s not been any penalties?
PALMER is on FIRE, A1 player - Has southgate got a brain
Gordon looked good against Bosnia hertz, we need to play players in there correct positions.
The only time Harry presses at Bayern is when Müller plays and he's yelling at him to do it. Müller rarely plays though.
Very true.
@John_Greektrue, but Bayern were awful against the bigger teams and got battered by Leverkusen. We can’t carry him against the biggest teams, he has to contribute to the press.
@John_Greek that reply doesn't address the issue. Nobody has said he hasn't scored or got assists for Byern
Love listening to shearer talking football could listen to him all day.
In simpler terms, Southgate is not the solution for England's football team. He is more suited to being a diplomat rather than a football manager. England needs a strong and fierce leader, which Southgate is not.
What do the coaching staff do? they have no input
strong - definitely, fierce - maybe, but we definitely need someone who can react to the oppositions dominance while it is happening and not after 25-30 mins of suffering. (Italy - Euros Final, Croatia WC semi-final). Picking the right team to begin with is paramount!
I think only Frank Lampard can do a worst job.
Gary keep them cameras rolling when your all the vino at 2 am
Top show love it , love your all you’re real personalities and humour coming out that we wasn’t allowed to see in the past

Hi guys absolutely love the podcast and I'm loving more episodes with the euros we are being spoilt ❤
The West Ham fans with the guy in a gimp suit🤣🤣🤣🤣
is there a difference between the two
@hammerschat
If it was the England squad I wonder who would be in the gimp suit!
Alan has more fun and excitement in his hotel in 15 minutes than millions of football fans have in 90 minutes having watched England
Maybe then they could play to their potential
Keep the podcasts coming please, loving them ❤🎉
That's what's wrong apparently, that's all Southgate is doing without any tactics. Just go have fun lads.
They don‘t look like they‘re having much fun tbh. They look terrified in the way they play. Of course tactics need to change but also mentally they need to change in my view
Thoroughly enjoyed this show!
Two very experienced proven individuals talking a lot of sense - the conversation was refreshing and correct!
10/10 👍
Two england legends. alan and gary
VERY EXcited to see them play that team if they do against Serbia
Come on England!
Calvin Phillips was available for selection
So what is southgate on about
He was injured
Excellent podcast, and really good interesting analysis by Shearer and Lineker👏🏽👏🏽
I'm just going to say it right now....I really really hope when Southgate leaves (If he actually does) that the players come out and actually say it was his tactics and not the players. I mean when they asked Gareth is it his tactics he point blank said NO....throwing the players under the bus....
That will come no doubt, just like when tories get hammered sunak will be exposed
Alan Shearer is a gem. Top striker who left it all out there and a top pundit who has chemistry with most co pundits.
This is the state of English football under the management of Gareth Southgate, These comments come from Harry kane, his own Captain !
“We’re struggling both with and without the ball, We’ll have to go away and look at it. The pressure in both games hasn’t been right. We are starting games well but when teams are dropping a few players deeper, we’re not sure how to put the pressure on and who’s supposed to press."
Shocking state of affairs for a national football team !
Pressing today is very precise and chess like. I don’t think Southgate knows what he’s doing. Pep he is not!
Gary Lineker, my all time favourite for analysing football. And together with Alan Shearer! Just great!. Thank you guys for that
Everyone keeps saying how good England were in the first 30 mins against Serbia. The reality is Sebia sat back and allowed England space. After the goal Serbia came out to attack and then England struggled.
All the talk before the tournament was about how to break down defensive teams.
Other teams have looked at England's recent, pre-tournament games, and are taking advantage. Slow, negative.
You never hear many England fans saying how good England are ,we all know they’re rubbish our decent players are playing on the backs of good foreign players we’ve known that for years
I like these behind the scenes stories. Thanks, guys!
I played CB for my pub team for years and we knew when to step up and press the game.
Me too Spent most of the time pushing forward to the halfway line and shouting at players to mark someone and press the ball
that definatley equates to international football. it's so obvious.
Yep win a defensive header off a corner, tell you’re whole back line to push up the pitch it’s basic stuff, they’re terrible at the basics
Love this podcast man, keep it up guys ❤
The best managers do not want to manage international sides unless it’s a last job before retirement. That is why we have Southgate. He has never won ANYTHING as a manager. Unless something changes, we’ll hire another D-list manager like him.
I’d rather we lose and have a f***ing go rather than play this turgid football style where the players all look like they’ve never met each other.
That is the most depressing thing I agree
Is there any english manager who won anything since the Premier League era? 😂
Good episode. Shearer always talks sense knows his stuff
These two legends should manage England
Would definitely be a whole lot better
They love there country why not,Southgate has the best squad of players we have had in years and he don't get the best out of any of them, Southgates way go in front and then sit back and keep what we've got,to neagtive, best managers never to be given the England job,Brian Clough, Harry rednapp, present got to get man city boss in pep 🏴🏴🏴💛💚🏆
"THANKS 😊 GARY, THE TEAM & BBC SPORTS 👏 👍; SEEN 👀 IS MORE BELIEVED. ALAN SHEARER WAS MAN OF THE DAY FOR ENGLAND 🇬🇧. ❤🇬🇧❤
If, as Southgate says, we "haven't replaced Philips", then he'd better change his tactics so that this doesn't make any difference with the team he has. Incredible piece of bad communication from him.
Wrong
Great pod as usual guys.
Love the honesty tbh. Your only voicing how we all feel.
Its not good enough its as simple as that.
Answer please!
Good question
Hey guys we are with you. Your absolutely spot on about the england team. They need a wake up call
You can look at this years Africa Cup 😂 they fired their coach after group stage and won the whole thing
I think Mr potter is perfect man to replace Southgate
He was brilliant in Phoenix Nights.
Can you Imagine the Draco Malfoy memes when he loses a game "Potter"
Rather Eddie Howe. Doubt he'd leave Newcastle, though.
I have to give Lineker his due. These last 2 pods have been very honest and unapologetic. Very welcome I have to say.
If he sticks to football that’s fine ,just don’t try to impose his political and social beliefs on on people who don’t need or want it,
@@Royboy50 Yeah well good luck with that.
Love the camaraderie of the lads. Whenever someone’s not there they always miss ‘em. Hope Big Meeks made the flight 😂
@@steveallen3434 Everyone's always quick to shout about how important Gareth's been in getting us to a final and semi and unifying the team etc, but now it's gotta be majority on the players??? Players do what they're coached to do.
@@steveallen3434 no matter how elite you are if you're shoehorned into a position you're not fmiliar in, or the tactical setup is completely off, then there is always going to be a dropoff in performance levels
saying players are the crux of the issue because they're on the pitch is too simplistic of a view
Love Alan Shearer and Gary linekar the way they describe the issues with England.
Kane shouldn't start in the knockout games, get him on after 60min, have him in the game for extra time/penalties
Excellent analysis. One thing I would add is that even if we concede as a result of pressing up the pitch, that’s still ok, we still have the talent to score and win the match
This podcast has really grown on me, I now look more forward to rest is football than the overlap 🤫
It's always been good tbf

@@sugaronthefloor1 I'm the same. I prefer stick to football much more because there's 5 or 6 people who sound like they're going to the pub and having a good discussion. Micah wants to be his cartoon avatar
It’s easy to criticise but our players have been mainly playing off the cuff in tournaments since Hoddle left. I saw an interview with Shearer recently and he said during one game in Euro 96 Terry Venables changed the system three times in one game.
think gareths changed the system 3 times in 8 yrs
unless Southgate suddenly becomes a master tactician overnight then unlike Linaker I get no comfort from the fact that England will be in the knockout stages as they will get humiliated by whoever they meet.
Lol, what other teams play with 2 strikers?
@@flamboyentpromotions3471 not many but it would work

3-5-2 with Foden. Bellingham. Rice in midfield and Kane, Watkins up front. Saka at left wingback
I have always wondered why he plays on the right when we need left-footed players on the left can he not play on the left and why do he and Foden never switch
great idea lad let's push our most creative right winger out of his position into a role he's hasn't played in for years

@@benfuller2890 It's impossible for every club player to play their role exactly the same way. What matters is the overall team performance. Saka is more adaptable than most, so he should be the one to adapt.

Unbalanced selection. No natural left sided player and slotting TAA in. Guaranteed failure.
And Southgate's post match comments about missing Phillips says it all. He's out of his depth, always has been.

@@JM-1Le-d9p the unbalanced selection winning the tournament in style and Southgate being oh so right for the job

Tell em Al
It's always great on this podcast to see the verbal punches that you have to hold back on during TV let lose. Also the wine situation on Thursday.
But to be serious, I think it doesn't matter whose on the bench for England, the best that happens is they replace player. At worst, send deeper down the field towards defense
It’s almost like ETH had a point… Gagareth Southgate is clearly out of his depth.
As Diego Costa said to Conte.
"PUT CESC ON!!!" Love the pod lads!
Bellingham needs to play deeper and Foden needs to play behind Kane it's that simple.
They could try running around a bit for starters. We must have the lowest distance covered stats by a big margin.
“Why don’t England do what City does???”
So you think it’s easy doing what Pep’s doing?
No, but it is not rocket science and I think most teams look more like a Klopp team than a Pep team
The worst thing is not the first half performance, but that nothing changed in the second half. What kind of manager cannot adapt to the tactics of the opposition? What were they doing at half time after that shambles? A good manager would have changed things immediately to counter Denmark's tactics.
Gareth Southgate is a lovely man a real English gentleman I could listen to him all day he is a lovely boy ❤
Lineker?
😂
The Queen Mother of International Football?
@@Nickelodeon81 a fair analogy, except the Queen Mum was a massive Germany fan
Listening to Alan and Gary it's all true and makes perfect sense. But let's be honest, most supporters have seen this ever since Southgate came in, but previous tournaments it seemed that all of the pundits had agreed not to criticise the manager. Only a strong character within the playing squad can change this because our manager certainly won't
If Harry Kane was a true captain he’d invite Southgate for a meal and discussion then lock him in a basement somewhere to unshackle the England team.
He might also realise that he might not just be the answer anymore.
thats the best tactics ive heard yet
Great episode 🤔👏😎
It was Morocco Gary not Tunisia
You'd think given he's such an expert on the plight of Refugees from North Africa he'd at least know the difference between the countries they come from
GL…did you once say in an interview that in italia ‘90 the players led a little revolt on the pitch & changed the manager’s tactics? Do you think that’s what is needed here? For some reason Gareth seems to be stifling the natural abilities of those players
None of our players are the type to truly rebel against a manager. That type of behaviour has been trained out of them.
I genuinely think England should sack Southgate now and bring in a temp replacement. They don’t need a coach, they need a rouser, someone like Redknapp and Stuart Pearce would give England a much better chance.
Of course they bloody need a coach. The problem is at the moment the coach is completely tactically inept.
Mike Basset "4 4 fucking 2"

This was good, 100% with everything. Good to see you guys finally calling out Southgate. I know he's your mate and all that, but it needs to be said.
Gary Lineker you 1986 played Morocco, not Tunisia!
