He supported and took care of my family, little did I know, when I 1st heard this song, back in the day. It would affect me, later on, in life. My daddy died on this day in 2016, I am acknowledging and celebrating this day, with you all,

It was the third of September
That day I'll always remember, yes I will
'Cause that was the day that my daddy died
I never got a chance to see him
Never heard nothin' but bad things about him
Momma I'm depending on you to tell me the truth
Momma just hung her head and said, son
    Papa was a rolling stone
Wherever he laid his hat was his home
And when he died, all he left us was alone
Papa was a rolling stone (my son, yeah)
Wherever he laid his hat was his home
And when he died, all he left us was alone
    Hey Momma!
Is it true what they say that Papa never worked a day in his life
And Momma, some bad talk goin' round town sayin' that
    Papa had three outside children
And another wife, and that ain't right
Heard some talk Papa doing some storefront preachin'
Talking about saving souls and all the time leechin'
Dealing in dirt, and stealing in the name of the Lord
Momma just hung her head and said
Papa was a rolling stone (my son)
Wherever he laid his hat was his home
And when he died, all he left us was alone
Hey Papa was a rolling stone (dad gumma it)
Where ever he laid his hat was his home
And when he died, all he left us was alone
    Hey Momma
    I heard Papa called himself a jack-of-all-trades
Tell me is that what sent Papa to an early grave
Folks say Papa would beg, borrow, steal
    To pay his bills
    Hey Momma
Folks say Papa never was much on thinking
Spent most of his time chasing women and drinking
Momma I'm depending on you to tell me the truth
Momma looked up with a tear in her eye and said, son
Papa was a rolling stone (well, well, well, well)
Wherever he laid his hat was his home
And when he died, all he left us was alone (lone, lone, lone, alone)
    Papa was a rolling stone
Wherever he laid his hat was his home
And when he died, all he left us was alone
Wherever he laid his hat was his home
And when he died, all he left us was alone

      @anyaw340 3 роки тому +2

@@zimjun7 Most reaction videos are exaggerated for views. In actuality, most of the new generation don't like this music, and that's okay. It's a natural cycle as society is always evolving. Every generation thinks their music is the best. They look down on the newer generation's music, while the generation before them looks down on *their* music. And most of the younger generation either knows nothing about it or dismisses it as their parents'/grandparents' music.

    • @CharlieXFBA
      @CharlieXFBA 2 роки тому +1

@@anyaw340 Not true at all. It's usually the other way around. It's usually older generations that shun younger people's music.
Usually the younger generation find an appreciation for older music because that's most likely the music they grew up listening to around the house, in the car etc.

Rumor has it. Song was supposed to be "daddy ate the piece of chicken" that's why the intro took too long because they were looking for the lyrics. But Dennis was feeling emotional and was reminiscing about his daddy. While they were searching for the lyrics Dennis had got carried away with his feelings that he started singing "It was the third of September " knowing song was supposed to be "Daddy ate the last piece of chicken " that's why Melvin and Otis are both staring at Dennis when he starts singing because they didn't know what to do. So they looked through the glass at the gut wearing the powder blue suit and he mouthed "papa was a rolling stone" so Melvin and Otis went with that as the hook. That's why the guy in powder blue suit vibing too it because this song turned out to be better than his song "Daddy ate the last piece of chicken"
