- 1997 broadcast of VH1's "Beatles Today," with the remaining Beatles discussing "Beatles Anthology 3." In the middle is a rude interruption by Fox News and Beatles Historian Martin Lewis. Commercials included.
1. Michelob ("Pick it up!")
2. Dockers (Aww)
3. Salon Selectives ("See how great your hair can be")
4. Vanish Hang-ins ("It's easy to maintain")
5. Maybelline (Maybe he's a tad uptight?)
6. Reese's ("Then I take a little more...")
7. Hot Pockets (These were very popular at the time)
8. Motorola ("Soon you can get a message...and send a reply!")
9. Power 96 Psychic readings ("You're good! You're real good!")
10. Lipton Brisk (The vendor guy had me on the floor, lol. Great stop motion!)
11. Clairol's Herbal Essences ("Organic experience," heh heh...)
12. Dance Beat 90s (Wow, haven't heard some of these in years) - Розваги
George: “I’ll do the bleeding interview, but I’m not gettin out of me rickshaw”
Hilarious
George smiling while Ringo sings Octopuses Garden ist just hella adorable
Yeah love George encouraging Ringo’s writing. He knew what it was like to be ignored.
George was so great.
He was indeed. :)
I think it’s so funny that on the roof the policemen sent to close them down were such fans they asked Paul ‘how much longer will you be?’’ Paul said another half an hour & they said ‘Oh OK’.
Hahahaha I loved George quoting Dylan’s “Subterranean Homesick Blues” towards the end there!
And then called it "the law of karma," which is very high praise from him. :)
Yes, 2023 sucks in every way possible; 1997 was a HELL of a lot more fun, Lord I hate getting older!
Wow! I remember seeing these in 1996 on vh1 music channel. Just listening to the Beatles talk is something cool. These were promotions for the last of the anthology series.
There's no end to the Beatles.
Damn right :D
Thanks for uploading this, great stuff
This is sure hard to get through with half the songs muted due to copyright.
Such a lovely time capsule into the past, loved the interviews (and the ads too) 😁
Thanks for posting !!
Every time you are tempted to think what a pranny Paul is...just remember that phenomenal bass part in “ Everybody’s got something to hide Except me and my Monkey”...also the frantic fireman’s bell he added to the track
Paul’s a frickin genius
John got nasty about Paul when he was jealous.
He like to keep his Fireman's Bell clean, It's a clean machine.
I love the Octopus’s garden story - I don’t remember hearing that before.
It’s funny that Paul used the phrase “the Beatles stripped naked” to describe the Glyn Johns mix of the Get Back album in 1997, and the Let it Be album reissue of 2003 was titled “Naked”. Should’ve been titled “Stripped”, never have liked the “Naked” title.
The Stones had an album called "Stripped" in 1995...guess they didn't want to copy them
@@adamlewis1961 AAAaaahhhhhh, didn’t know that. So that probably explains it. Still not too wild of the “Naked” title.
I thought the same thing
The album should have been titled "Get Back" and featured the naked versions of the songs. I like LIBN, but I do miss Charles Hawtrey and the Deaf Aids. Without the Specter version, we would never know what happened to Doris.
Ringo saying"Rubber soul" had to be muted😂smh...bloody hell
UA-cam didn't like the song in the background, lol.
Dream is over life goes on...
amazing
I can't watch this video if the music is muted. Too bad!
I understand, it's annoying.
Oi! The music has been deleted! Why mate? Why????
Copyright, deleting the music keeps the clips up on UA-cam.
23:02 Peacock in Paul's garden :)
That is George's last TV appearance
There was also his appearance with Ravi Shankar on VH1 in July 1997.
Damn I remember most of these commercials like it was yesterday, I feel
Old 😂
(4:00) George citing "Polythene Pam" as one he liked is interesting. Never rated that one too highly - always liked "Mean Mr. Mustard" better. But I suppose it is fun as a Lennon knockoff.
He said he likes it for its “Liverpoolness” because of the humour and the Liverpool pronunciations which he emphasises by using the Liverpool pronunciation of eg girl “gurl” world (“wereld”) attractively (rolled r).
I’m Liverpool-born btw.
And of course their “ knock offs” were better than a lot of other writers best attempts. I always enjoyed the funny wordplay in PP. Very much an in joke of a song.
Hot pockets!
I hate music copyright laws.
Yea, I'm sure you would love YOUR work to be stolen... Smh
this is literally the dummist comment on UA-cam.
I wish they would remaster the film and extras for Blu ray.
OMGOMGOMG THANK YOU FOR UPLOADING THIS!!! I taped it off tv back when it aired, never knew what the exact title was, but have NEVER succeeded in finding it online *ever*...UNTIL TODAY. 💖 Do you happen to know if there were similar specials for Anthology 1 and 2, or was it just 3?
I guess we didin;t pay for music rights.
"Should 5% appear too small, be thankful I don't take it all." :P
wow- what a simpler world.... not the 60s...the 90s.... look at those commercials!!
Can anyone explain why it cuts of the starts again something that was interested in watching the volumes there one minute and go on the next. I’ve wanted to watching it.

I remember these commercials too! Was life better 25+ years ago.......? No Questions asked, Absolutely!
I think this was 1998. Linda died in 1998
Does it mention Linda's passing, I want to make sure I'm not confusing it for another clip.
Ohh I see, the Fox section mentions it. That recording was probably after the Anthology bit.
RIP Linda
I agree with Paul. Spector ruined let it be lp
I agree, I do prefer the simpler version of Long and Winding Road. It didn’t need a big choir.
I watched the commercials man
1:39 - Phil Spector: "hold my pint…"
What a shame that the reason we're all here, THE MUSIC, is "not permitted" .Money, money, money....Is G in a pram cause he's the youngest ?
Smoke signals is a goated movie
George’ s career did not stall after 1974. Cloud 9 was a huge success and produced the last number one single by an ex beetle. The Wilburys albums were also hugely successful.
100% correct. He also helped revive the British film industry.
Every album when released went gold for George & yielded at least a top 20 hit.
Mis 2 favoritos Beatles
Lewis is nowhere as reliable as Mark Lewisohn.
Why are there so many moments of audio missing in this clip?

Why are there so many silent moments (mutes) in this program?

Beatle historian = Stalker Fan
😂
Martin Lewis virtually disappeared. You never see him anymore.
@@Sweetish_Jeff_Yeah I noticed that too, but I did see him on TV somewhere recently. I remember he was also in an E! True Hollywood Story about the Beatle wives as well back in the day.

No sound?
Is this the one with a lot of old songs with Pete Best? Pete made some good money off this, didn't he?
That's Anthology 1, and yes I heard he did make good money off it.
What do you think "I dig a pony" was really about? "I dig a little horse", of course. (horse = heroin)
"I was just having fun with words. It was literally a nonsense song. You just take words and you stick them together, and you see if they have any meaning. Some of them do and some of them don't."--John Lennon

@@TheaterPup Sure, John. Whatever you say.
I see what you mean, lol.@@justinejacks0n

James Paul McCartney died in car crash on September 11 1966 and was replaced by William (Billy). This is the truth no matter what.
Your silly for believing that , but what ever
@@johnvizzi2553 And you are very smart.
Why are parts of the video without sound.
Copyright
@@TheaterPup OH, Since it was actually a VH1 Broadcast that was official I don't think you would a copyright issue for posting it as it was.
@@awesomeartdigital6077 I tried, the songs got flagged. 🤷♀️
@@TheaterPup Oh well. Maybe then just edit them out and just keep with the interviews.
Sacá las botas de arriba del sofá. Pero hermosas las botas. No son una paja. El peinado del muchacho tambien, hermoso…me hace acordar a lo de los piojos de Mondino.
Me dan ganas de votar a la derecha…..
I always got the impression that George only agreed to this for the money. He gave off annoyed, don’t-want-to-be-there vibes to me. His solo career stalled out around 1974 and he didn’t have near the amount of publishing royalties as Paul
Nothing is ever "only."
I’m a big fan of George and his honesty, but he was undoubtedly a bloody-minded curmudgeon at times, and often gave off a very negative and annoyed vibe.
@@LennyJohnson5 He’s my favorite Beatle and he did let you know when he wasn’t impressed. It wasn’t particular to this show. ;)
@@PT. Georgie always gave off annoyed, don’t-want-to-be-here vibes. Even way back in 1969 he was always a stick in the mud throwing cold water on anything Paul proposed to the Beatles, such as playing live in 1969. Georgie was always a drag.
@@LennyJohnson5 You are correct sir.
Paul claimed that the Beatles were the only group to outsell the Beatles, However Robson and Jerome outsold the Free as a Bird in England, and Michael Jackson outsold Free as a Bird in the US.
Well I guess they meant band, not duo or solo artist.
He talked about the Anthology albums, which the US in 1996 was the best selling artist.
Yeah we know Billy, right on Que!!!!!
Cuckoo! Cuckoo!
