Dosen't copper only have 1 valence electron in the 4th shell according to the periodic table
Thank you for sharing this information. electronics + programming make a excellent pair.
+Alex Parra You're very welcome :)
I have to self study a lot of topics for my physics exam in may and electricity was one of the things that wasn't sticking with me because it was just hard for me to visualize it, but this video definitely helped clarify my understanding. Thanks a lot for making this. Also, I think another video on electromagnetic waves and all would be very helpful! Thanks again :)
+Theboss I'm very happy that it helped :) Thank you for the request. I plan on doing some hands on demonstrations on how electromagnetic waves work.
+Derek Banas that would be great!
Amazing tutorial. Good explanation. Thinks a lot.
+Henrique Fernandes Thank you very much :) You're very welcome
This guy is great..! Why can't they teach us in such a simple way at school like Derek does here? Simple and understandable to the core. Awesome. Watch Derek Banas's In one video section/playlist, I learned a lot from those videos.
Thank you :) I'm happy that you liked it
Glad i know english. Your explaining are more understandable than on my native language.

+Flankymanga I have been wanting to do it for years :)
+Derek Banas I originally thought that you are a pure software guy... Glad to see i was wrong :) Im myself software AND hardware person...
+Derek Banas What do you actually do for profession? I also want to study electronics and computer science.
+Rafi Ahmed why not the two of them together?
Amit Blumenfeld
If you want you can study both of them together.
you just got yourself a subscriber thanks Derek
Thank you :)
Amazing video thank you very much Derek, you just summed up a great deal of my telecom degree in a single video, I wish I could go back in time and give this tut to myself 5 years ago, haha.
+Sergio Romero Thank you very much :) It will be fun to dig deeper and deeper into electronics and the physics behind it.
Haven't played with electronics since I was a kid and never really got my head into it. I guess timing couldn't be better to change things around. Cheers, Derek!
+Justinas Vėbra I was the same way. About 5 years ago I got back into it and haven't looked back. My kids think it is magic, which I guess it is about as close as we can get to magic :)
Thank you for your tutorial, Derek!
Can you recommend any books on electronics that you find useful?
+javaRussia I'll look through all my books and I'll make a recommendation soon. There are so many. Practical Electronics for Inventors is a technical book, but it covers so much amzn.to/1QEy12G
Derek Banas Thank you!
Thanks for this tutorial...Thanks from Portugal
+Davids AllEyezOnMe Hello Portugal! I would so much love to visit some day. You're very welcome :)
I'm so glad you made this video! :-)

+Aaron Meza Thank you very much :)
This is so Kool - You sir are a renaissance man !!!
+zenapplejones Thank you :) I'm going to do my best to cover more diverse tutorials over this year.
Hello Derek! Thanks for your another amazing toturial. I am a bit lost about Android toturial. Should I do the first one you do in eclipse or start with this newer one? Also will you continue your Java Algorithm tutorial with things like B-trees or Djikstra algorithm? Do you plan to do some cryptography toturial?
+Antonio Vanderas Hello, Definitely use the newer Android Studio tutorial. It is much better. I keep wanting to get back into algorithms and data structures. I'm planning on embracing the fact that everyone wants complex tutorials from me and so I'll do my best to cover those complex topics more over the next few months and on from there.
I thought you were only into Programming Languages, I loved your videos on C, Java, python tutorials. I'm glad that you started making tutorials on Electronics as well. Could you please include circuit diags in your future videos, and a brief description of placing components on the BreadBoard in your next video ?
+inPursuit ofNirvana I'm happy to hear that :) Yes I'll definitely cover circuit diagrams. I plan on covering using multimeters and breadboards in the next video. I also want to cover circuit diagrams and capacitors.
Thanks Derek, appreciate that. :)
On the resistor color code, if gold is the last color on a resistor, it means the resistor is 5% tolerance. If gold is the third color on a resistor, it means to divide by 10. If silver is the last color on a resistor, it means 10% tolerance. If silver is the third color on a resistor, it means to divide by 100.
Hey Derek what's the best electronics book that you'd recommend ?
I like practical electronics for inventors.
+Odysseas Hatzopoulos There are so many good ones. I especially like Electrical Engineering 101 amzn.to/1lMqcg7
+chain3519 Great book :)
OMG, this video came out just when i wanted it more.
I just started learning about electronics recently and I'll buy an arduino uno soon.
This is super helpful!
+Sebs Alvarado I'm extremely happy that you liked it! Arduinos are so cool. I'll be covering them as well. I'm going to make electronics tutorials part of the regular rotation while continuing with programming of course. Have fun :)
+Sebs Alvarado haha same story
+Derek Banas Waiting when you will rotate to ROR . Anyway thanks
+Kamal Pandey Sorry about the wait :( I'll get back to ROR ASAP.
Derek Banas arduino lessons would be great coming from you :3
Somehow I'm having trouble following this, you speed through the information and I can't seem to process it. You know any free resources where I can read about this in more detail?
ua-cam.com/play/PLah6faXAgguOeMUIxS22ZU4w5nDvCl5gs.html
nice video! cant wait to learn more. May I ask how you determine which spots on your break board that you want to place the resistors, capacitors, etc. Im trying to understand how critical the placements are. Thank you
Thank you :) I base the layout on how easy it is to analyze what is going on. Since I don't have to conserve space I keep everything understandable above all else.
Your videos are awesome ;) Can you make a QT 5 tutorial? ;)
+空気鈴明 Thank you :) I'll see what I can do.
Excellent tutorial! I wonder if you are old enough to remember a time when the entire 'guts' of the radio wasn't in one chip, oh and have you ever heard of Heathkits?
+BobEckert56 Thank you :) Yes I grew up in the country to very poor people. I remember vacuum tubes and such. It still excites me today. I may explore old tech like that. It would be fun if I can get the parts. I never had a Health Kit, but I had many others that were similar. Great memories indeed.
Thank you so much for this tutorial! :D
As someone who has been trying to get into electronics(and failing) using text books, for the past few months, this has been a very useful and convincing tutorial! This was really helpful! Thank you so much for doing this video! :D Will there be more parts to it?
+Ryptyq Qrudgyde You're very welcome :) Yes there will be numerous tutorials on electronics and I love electronics so I'll enjoy making many things. Don't worry if everything doesn't make 100% sense. I'll be reviewing each topic numerous times using multiple projects.
+Derek Banas Thank you for that.
I've begun a project(finally) on using electronics for a small voice modulation module. It's for something like a Darth Vader mask, that can take my voice, modulate it, and then amplify my voice and output via a small speaker. I'm hoping you might cover mic, and sound amplification modules in the successive videos! :)
Thank you Derek... Awesome tutorial and keep that brain of yours working lol...
+swiftspy You're very welcome :)
Thanks for this awesome tutorial Derek.
+jason c You're very welcome :)
Hi Derek and thanks, as always it was an awesome tutorial.
One question:
I am new to the field of electronics so today I wanted to buy a soldering iron. The iron I chose is said to give good Lead-free soldering performance but there is nothing mentioned about soldering with Lead. Does that mean it won't work well with wires that have Lead in them?
+Arm Aarm You're very welcome :) I just use a radio shack soldering iron which is super cheap and if it solders any solder will work with your iron I'm sure.
you explained so well and i still got lost.
Hey Derek! Your videos are superb! Just wondering, but will their be a bluetooth video accompanying this series? I think it would be awesome if you could make a tutorial where we build a mobile app and connect it to a microcontroller with bluetooth capabilities. Just a thought! Thanks again!
+Varun Shenoy Thank you very much :) I plan on taking electronics very seriously and will make many tutorials for well over a year. I have wanted to do this for a long time, but I wasn't sure that everyone wanted me to cover electronics. Based on the great response I promise to make many more.
Thanks Derek for your all efforts it's really great.
I wish if you make videos to combine (Java and Arduino) i know you'll be awesome :)
+AboAlbaraa Mohamed You're very welcome :) After I finish up Angular I'll make a ton of electronics videos. I have waited a long time to make these videos.
Two days ago I said to my self man I wish some one could explain amps and volts and ohms to me... This is exactly what i wanted. Thanks!
+Todd Judd Thank you :) I'm very happy that I could clear those up.
derek thanks for your great and wonderful tutorials its the best on UA-cam!
i wish you make android game tutorials if you have time
thanks for everything!
+Fahd Al-Qahtani You're very welcome :) I plan on covering games. To mix things up I want to make programming tutorials like I have were I cover a language / framework, electronics, games and then cooking videos. By mixing it up it makes my channel more exciting and it makes it fun for me. I hope you like the changes. The production value is going up as well.
Thanks for sharing...
Hey Derek have you ever considered making a tutorial on Ansible?
I have yet to find a good tutorial that runs through all the functions of ansible without making things too complex.
+alex cohen Sorry, but I don't have any experience with it :(
Nice refresher
Thank you :)
Woo, this means hype for me! Also, I had a question. What do the positions matter for? Like is each of them unique or you can mess around with them if you want?
I'm glad you liked it :) You can use any pins that you'd like.
Damn man you're branching out even more
+vir ingens Yes I love covering multiple topics :)
:D, honestly it is extremly hard not to find something on the internet that you did not provide an explanation/tutorial for it, i think it would be amazing if you make a complete explanation for java developer roadmap, you are 3/4 through it, i mean the frameworks like spring and testing and libraries and so on, those are the only things that are remaining for you to complete this road map.
BTW, you should be under the United Nations legal protection. You are a world's treasure!
Thank you for the nice compliment :) I appreciate it. Sorry for not covering the rest of Java
Derek, actually both the Positive and Negative semiconductors are neutralized in charge - nElectrons is equal to nProtons, but however in the Negative Semiconductor, there is an atom called Phosphorus which has 5 electrons and protons so the atoms charge is NOT disrupted, and that 1 extra atop is loosely tied to the phosphorus so it can escape the covalent bond of the semiconductor which will allow current to flow, it is similar with the P type semiconductor
Thank you for the info. I'll look into it. I want to re start this series and I hope to make it better next time
Derek Banas NP. But when you restart the series, can you try and focus more on the theoretical part of everything?
It is a matter of me studying theoretical electronics ATM. And IMO if you know the theory, applying it to the practical projects is just a matter of knowing how to use the tools... Anyways, thanks for the videos, your really have helped me in both programming and electronics.
Great Video, But I don't understand how you can tell where in the breadboards to put the components?
+Oisin O'Dwyer Thank you :) I uploaded a picture of the breadboard with a list on where to plug in the components here goo.gl/0Qsdsr
