For me personally, I think the movies handled Shinji's death a lot better than in the original game because there wasn't the weird shaking camera angles and gasps, and Shinji didn't just randomly get up only to die in front of a street light.
The fact that in the movie this was both the senpais and the leader's fault make it even sadder Akihiko and Mitsuru didn't remember And Makoto was slowing down the whole fight
@@OnurArda If you mean Mitsuru and Akihiko, then no. They 100% remembered in the movie. Proof in dialogue. It happens right at the start. Akihiko - "Where's Shinji?" Mitsuru - "Amada did tell me that he couldn't make it today, but..." Akihiko - "Those two are..." Mitsuru - "Akihiko, don't tell me that...!" Akihiko - "Today's October 4th, right? Yamagishi, try to track Shinji and Amada's positions!" They definitely knew. They just couldn't leave. It's only in the manga and game where it's after the battle until they realise.
The real reason is because he thought, that after all the Arcana Shadows (like that roulette shadow) are destroyed, he and his friends would start to drift apart because there would no longer be a common goal for them to stay with each other for.
Makoto was in a dilemma. He wanted to fight shadows to save protect his friends and to be with them. Although he didn’t want to stop the dark hour for he feels his life will have no purpose especially if he and his friends drift apart. It’s after what Takaya said to Makoto that made him think of finishing the dark hour or to stop defeating the major shadows. Makoto wants to have a purpose in his life for he still feels he has no purpose at this point still.
@@fahriza88 While I agree that Takaya is one of the weaker villains in the story and in the series in general the FeMC kinda ruins the whole underlying theme of the story. I like her design and soundtrack but... I'd rather stick with Door-kun
I think it's the same reason why in other similar media, characters don't just revive dying characters. If you take a close look at the healing skills, you'll notice the resurrective spells often specify "unconsicous" or "KO" rather than "death." Healing skills don't actually repair the body from severe damage - especially internal bleeding and organ failure - because they primarily reinvigorate someone's stamina rather than mending serious cuts and bruises. Revival spells bring a person back from an unconscious state, like splashing water on a sleeping person, not returning the deceased to life. This is why characters still get sick, fatigued, needing to sleep to recover, and why Shinji died.
@@superninja_youtubeThis would also explain why the protagonist can never be revived, since it's heavily implied they just die, which is further supported by the fact Joker had cut lines ordering his party to fall back or saying stuff like "No... not here..." whenever he loses all of his HP.
I wonder how this scene would go in the Female Route. Because 1. Would the pocket watch be implemented? Likely, to make a difference in the story/it happened in the stage play. 2. Makoto's character arc wouldn't work with FeMC because on how FeMC would likely already have a reason to live opposed to him and it would be a bit boring to have the same character arc. 3. She would likely be more inclined to save Shinji and try to put in more effort to fight the shadows so it would instead likely be more harder to fight the strength and fortune than in here.
They'd probably extend the festival scene, with Femc finding the pocket watch there instead of at the police station. Shinji would see it and ask where she found that. He'd say it was his and femc would give it to him. Then on the tragic day, the watch will save him. We'd also probably get an extra scene with him waking up from his hospital bed near the end and running to join the others to see femc on the roof

Just in case this is a serious question : Revival Beads are gameplay mechanic item outside of the narrative aspect of the game. Beads only exist in a gamplay point of view. That's the same with FF7 and Aerith death : Phoenix feathers don't exist in the narrative & you can't bring back the dead with white magic.
