this movie is really crazy i had to close my ears every time they chanted that „recitation“(?) and the whole movie just seemed crazy from the beginning i only saw afterwards that it was based on a real story
Kind of sounded like a smaller scale of the mass psychosis that played a part in the Salem Witch Trials. I haven't seen this movie, but now I want to. Best "scared myself silly" moment was when The Ring first came out. My sister and I watched it on a stormy night near Halloween. We get all the way through to the end when they show the "cursed" video, as soon as it stopped and the screen went black, the phone rang. When I tell you we screamed, I'm understating. I'm pretty sure we got a couple of noise complaints from the neighbors the next day. We didn't answer, so it stopped and then started ringing again. I finally picked it up, it was my (at the time) fiance calling to check on us because he'd lost power at work. Nearly had a flippin' heart attack. My sister ended up sleeping in my bed with me for the night because we were both that shook up. We normally handle horror movies just fine.
Its something called "Vastu sashtra" in our Hindu culture which is basically "how" to place things. We have our temples, face of our houses, beds, everything based on this vastu sashtra and it brings good vibes. Its pretty cool and people actually study it as a profession.
yeah, exactly! Feng Shui is kinda like the East Asian version of that same thing. there are cultural beliefs around it, and there are people that professionally study and practice it too.
I'm a Buddhist and have a statue of Guanyin/Avalokitesvhara (the Goddess of Compassion and Mercy) on my altar. I recite her mantra, as well. The way my head tilted when the demon claimed to be the Goddess possessing the girl.
As someone who isn't religious/spiritual nor superstitious, I find it so intriguing to see how it can impact people's life and environment so deeply, or even tragically as in this case, makes me realize that we're all so different
Someone may have said this already but shared delusions have popped up in true crime before. Theres a story from the 1800s or 1900s of a group of people believing they were possessed and made to dance till they died, and people theorize that they experienced a shared delusion. One case that is a bit more recent (like 2015-2020) is a family in Australia that randomly ransacked their own home and went on the run by driving up North. Along the way the family of 5 separated and got lost, with the son being the only one who understood reality. If i remember correctly he said his family were on the run from someone. When the rest of the family was found they had no recollection of why they were running. The dad himself was found out in the wild after hiding in a nature reserve for like a month.
58:47 yes, spirits can be deceitful just as much as satan can. 1:09:38 its best explained by how the greek gods are, we could, in principle, say, they have similarities.
As a muslim, I do beileve that you can be possessed by a demon, but nothing else than a demon. We would recite the Holy Quran to let the demon out of the body.
I have had a few paranormal experiences myself, i kinda dont be giving a f, until the spirits start getting violent, then i gotta salt the room and pray your azz away
my last house was like at the T junction.....and we did went through some stuff....but i guess it's just life but when she said about it .....i got chills😭😭😭
for me, it would take 3 coincidences to fully get into it. by 2 i will have a hunch, but 3 will confirm the hunch is correct. 3 coincidences is no longer a coincidence but a planned incident. i love watching horror movies and if a local told me not to mess with something in a place im not familiar with, I will believe that person in a heartbeat. i dont know the place. its not my territory so obviously you need to respect whatever they believe in. i also havent watched "incantation", because of the poster of it , the placement of the fingers, it already feels eerie. i can totally feel eerie or not just by the poster of it, that's how many horror movies i've watched so far. its not the usually anime finger/hand movements that you can just laugh it off. it feels like some sort of demonic ritual.
Stephanie is referring to "Folie a Deux." I think it probably was mass delusion and this isn't the only time this has happened in real life. MrBallen has talked about a couple cases where an Australian family ran away from home for some unknown reason. A family in Canada did the same thing thinking they were being spied on by mobsters. It's later the kids are adults and realize their mom and stepfather were delusional and forced them into a nomadic lifestyle for no real reason.
I definitely need to watch something funny or kid friendly after watching anything horror related 😅 I believe in the paranormal but popular "true" stories I mostly view as a tragedy than something to be scared of. Like the tale of La Llorona, I don't know the exact details but it always seemed like a sad story about a woman who went insane and the insanity caused her to do what she did. I also watch some paranormal type videos but I always follow the advice given to me cuz I refuse to be cursed through a screen no matter how low the chances are 😅
3:30 me personally I tell anyone the sign of”get out” on my bathroom mirror soon as I read the “g” I’m in another universe fuck moving states they can have all of it
I'm Catholic and have cultural beliefs in my family and myself, but I was fascinated by the intricacies other faiths and cultures have and how much cultures have in common. If you separate for a second my Catholicism, the core beliefs of a lot of my culture have similarities with the other cultures' beliefs. We have rituals (not human sacrifice!) that protect, exorcise, mirror and bring extreme misfortune to target people (families) you do not like. Then in Catholicism, we have our protectors, the saints, priests and then demons and the Devil. All these similarities in cultural beliefs were passed down for hundreds of years before we were introduced to Catholics which strengthens my beliefs in both my religion AND my culture, personally. WHICH IS WHY I DIDN'T LIKE THIS MOVIE AND IT SCARED ME!!!
i think she is trying to say that the incantations are fake and the chants are fake and made up in the movie. But the story that inspired this story is real.
22:47 there’s a mountain in nepal or india where there’s believed to be aliens or SMTH there cus almost all who have climbed up there have died, and those who managed they aged A LOT, and they all died 2 years after, they even got grey hair when they came down 😭 that’s insane
Do you know house gas leak can cause hallucinations which might make people that their house is possessed and that were many cases like this during covid coz everybody was stuck at home
Speaking of believing in sports I actually talked to one when I was 7 turn out it was my dad's now ex fiance's brother who died in a motorcycle crash and I didn't even know she had a brother until I told my dad
In this specific case I believe it was more of a collective psychosis type of situation. I'm not religious at all or very spiritual but I do believe is spirits to some degree. They might have been possessed and the events that the family stated happened might be true but I do lean towards it being psychosis. It's just what makes most sense to me after hearing all the different theories.
Hey, good thing is... If we don't F around, we don't have to find out, right? I mean what good is going to come from realizing that "oh shhh, demons and curses are real"? I don't see the use.
I won't lie it would take me 3 times before I think of getting my priest involved: the cockroach (I'm afraid of them damn things already, but they normal), the burst eye vessel I wouldn't even be looking at the shape just immediately asking where she fell, the door would freak me so that number 1 for me, talking to herself is her imaginary friend, but I have that sage around the house bc I am a religious hoe, But if I do something AS STUPID AS MESSING WITH SACRED THINGS... I'm sending that child BACK!
38:4838:52 it depends tho if the beliefs are very evil, disgusting, psychopathic, not humane then we can critique, judge or “make fun” of it. but when it comes to harmless stuff people believe in we shld definitely be more respectful, as long as they don’t push their beliefs onto other people or into the world and act upon it if it makes any sense
I really love Steph , but i think someone give wrong information about name of religion . This is not HINDU religion. I'm an ex hindu so I do understand if people mix it up with other religions like Buddhism and other east asian religions etc cause they all got quite a few similar practices

Yeah same!!
I prefer a watch along than just me watching her stories alone. Thanks for this man.

42:55 this is also why the witches community doesn't like those welcome mats because it welcomes everything in.
Do I first listen it to Spotify? YES! Do I watch the video again in UA-cam? YES YES! Do I watch it again with Seb reaction? Definitely Yes!

every religion believes in demons ☠️🗿
yeah same, specially when they spread feaces and dirt in the home. In Islam we believe dirt brings devils.
I have had a few paranormal experiences myself, i kinda dont be giving a f, until the spirits start getting violent, then i gotta salt the room and pray your azz away
11:19 when someone says call an ambulance thats ur first reaction, to be annoyed at the situation?
Weird reaction for sure
I think he means like how the person just disappeared.. like he would think someone is knocking and running away to be a troll
my last house was like at the T junction.....and we did went through some stuff....but i guess it's just life but when she said about it .....i got chills😭😭😭
I claim no negative energy from this video (I'm scared)
One of my favorite movies
Shared delusion syndrome is very real and very scary. They also call it a French word that translates to madness for two
I think it's gonna be so cool to see your reaction to sam and colby videos tbh
DUDE IVE THOUGHT TE SAMEEE???? they’re so hard to debunk tbh, i especially love those they made just some years ago they had the best proofs 😫
Seb and stephanie locked in fr

Incantation is an awesome movie, it's one of my favs. Definitely not for the faint of heart, though.
Its almost 3 am here , i will watch this in afternoon (got scared within 4 minutes of the video starting) 😅

1:00:44 "that's what they think" but wait...were they suppose to remember? Were spirit mediums suppose to not remember anything while possessed?

LOOSELY based on a true story. Loosely. Key word.
"How many weird things will it take for you to think something is going on?" TBH it depends on how weird they are :')
My favorite podcaster Rotten Mango.
reading the comments while watching im too scared
38:18 sam and colby has videos exploring haunted places with a medium and it’s q cool 🗿

From what I heard, "based on a true story" can be put in front of a film even if one event is true. The rest can be exaggerated or made up.
I can’t even sleep without thinking about it lol I was praying to don’t appear in my dreams😂
I'm a Muslim, believer. But i think that believing something this much starts to ruin your mental health. I don't know.
