Gohan referred to it as a hidden power within Jiren (Gohan can relate to that lol). Once this happened, Jiren did not immediately take the upper hand. Rather, it seemed to be a closer battle. He did not take the advantage 4 times, it was twice. The first time when he overpowered goku's kamehameha and second where Jiren took advantage of goku's own attack to hit him. Right after that Goku is on the ground but gets up. Never did they imply at this point that Jiren had beaten goku. Goku stood up and then gave Jiren the work once again. They never said gokus power increased more when he got up so you can't even say he was boosted by his friends. The quote "this is our power" does not imply he increased his power and to say so is an assumption. It was merely narrative to the theme of the fight, the difference between fighting for yourself and fighting for others. Goku then beat Jiren to the point he admitted defeat. To say that goku had lost when he was down is like saying a boxer lost a fight because they had a single down in the middle of the fight even though they ultimately won by knockout.

So you can say that he learned the basics from his master but pretty much all of power and fighting skill he has now , he got them on his own . Goku even says it himself in episode 131

This fight is no different than the thanos vs hulk fight imo, the directors said that thanos and hulk had roughly the same strength but overall skill>rage. Same thing here🤷🏻♂️ Broly and hulk both get stronger as the fight goes on + plus as his anger grows, while thanos and jiren are calm, collected, and skilled as well as overwhelmingly powerful. I mean I know these aren’t the same exact thing I just notice parallels.
In the comics, Thanos actively avoids the hulk. Even though he whoops his ass every time he is forced to fight him. He knows the Hulk can overpower him with time.

He fought people who could destroy planets at small percentages of their power, but not to that ease and degree. And at such a speed goku couldn't even react to it really. Go seek drug addiction treatment. Without feats, you can't scale. Characters do things to show off their power. Cell making a fighting ring isn't relevant. That isn't a combat feat and Cell wasn't using even 5% of his power. I have no idea where you get the idea that feats don't matter.

@@eoplex you're a really smart and humble Brolly fan, usually most of them would just boast over how Brolly pushed Gogeta (post TOP) to blue, when in actuality Gogeta didn't really have to go that far, it was a pretty one-sided fight the moment he turns blue. Brolly was hitting his limit, and if we acknowledge the fact that he got back to his base form when he arrived at the planet shows just how much that form burned his body down and that he still has a lot to learn, that said Brolly has the most potential, yes even more than Gohan.

As much as I love Broly, I think Jiren would win and here's why: even if they have equal power; or even if Broly is stronger, when in just his wrathful state, he goes insane. So combine that berserk state with the rage and sorrow that goes into going ssj and full power, AND the fact that he has ZERO actual fighting skill or expirience, and Broly would never be able to think right ir make rational choices while Jiren, on the other hand, can think calmly and rationally while still maintaning his incredibly high power.

In battle of gods movie after goku and beerus fight. Beerus tells goku there are universes that have spawned warriors mightier than them. Jiren is one of those warriors.

I think you guys are forgetting WHAT broly actually is... Goku and Vegeta are both known to be at the pinnacle of the Saiyan race, where both of them are just normal saiyans who happen to have decent potential and years of experience-- which is why they are at the level they are at. For people who have been following dragon ball since the start its been emphasised time and time again that the "Legendary Saiyan" is something to behold, with the reference point of two normal Saiyans- Goku and Vegeta. Its fact that a legendary saiyan is a Saiyan but with MONSTROUS capabilities. I understand that the argument of just saiyan isn't entirely valid because now goku and vegeta posses god ki, but the very fact that they had to fuse to KEEP UP, with a novice fighter--Broly just shows the extent of Broly's power. Give that battle experience to Broly (I'm talking about power threshold which increases after every battle for a Saiyan), and he would solo the tournament arc.
I think broly can beat him from what I've seen in super and the movie...the thing with broly though is that he hasn't had the opportunity to fight multiple warriors like jiren did nor has he been spectated by the gods like jiren in the tournament. Gogeta wasn't at Super Saiyan 2, he was only at Super Saiyan 1 like he was against Janemba because there was no aura. Plus, even at Super Saiyan 1, he was already more than a match for Broly. There was no need for him to even go SSG.
One thing that I want to pick up on you guys is that we've seen Broly at Max power? Do you really think that's the case, the guy rapidly went up power from being weaker than SS Vegeta to overtaking both of them at SSB, and even taking on Gogeta Blue. So yes at the time Broly was weaker but it would be very easy to have Broly rapidly climb above Jiren.

Literally everyone forgets about the Zenkai boost during debates like these. Not only did Broly face post TOP Goku and Vegeta, he over powered them from a Frieza Saga power level to a power level beyond their own individual levels. The TOP gave Goku like 4 power boosts and alone he was trucked by a black haired Broly. Not to mention that Gogeta wents all out on Broly, whaling on him furiously, using star dust buster on him, and bursting dimensions only to merely piss Broly off. Shortly after, he did beat Broly up to the point of fatigue, but that only means Broly got a huge zenkai boost when he returned home. Also, if that isn't enough, ya boy fought his was from getting beat up by base Vegeta to overpowering Blue Goku and Vegeta a the same time while still in his black hair form. What makes you think his fight with Jiren will be any different. Jiren, just like the rest, will be eventually surpassed and forced to fuse with someone to win.

I love the video, but let me say one critique. You have to remember Brolys only appearance was in a movie, which means some info has to be handed to us in a way that normally in the show it may not be. For example, Goku states fusion wouldnt be enough for Beerus in God movie. Now, if Goku is so bad at scaling, does this mean we cant take this info at face value, and maybe Vegito has a chance? No, because its a movie and they need to give certain info out quickly without having to spend too much time on it, which is why we all know Vegito wont work. When you think about this, Goku saying Broly is possibly Beerus level means we can probably take it at face value to a degree, UNTIL other Info states otherwise. Now Jiren > Broly currently in terms of power given based on their feats is how I feel too, so dont think this is to say Broly would win for sure, but I think theres way too much dismissal on Gokus word here, especially considering they really are just constantly retconning Beerus power level, so honestly its less Goku being dumb and more writing issues. I think people are forgetting that broly was literally destroyed both goku and vegeta who were both using SSJB and he wasn’t even in control of himself, he as lashing out..now imagine how crazy broly would be if he could control himself. The problem is that we just saw the reaction of the characters to Broly in his normal SSJ form. When he transformed into SSJ berserk against Gogeta SSJ blue we didn't see reactions shots or anything. Therefore, it's still posible that Broly is stronger in his SSJ berserk. This video didn't prove anything, just proved that Normal SSJ Broly < Jiren. But between Broly SSJ berserk and Jiren is still unknown.
This is my take on this: 1. The Gods being more fearful of Jiren is because they already knew about Jiren's power for a long time, unlike Broly who was just recently discovered. You could say the same with Kefla. Heck, you could even say the same with Goku. Remember them sweating or in denial at the power of UI/MUI Goku? They're unaware of a Saiyan's power. 2. At this point in the DB universe, it's obvious that Jiren is stronger than Broly, but in my opinion, if you're going to compare Jiren with a Broly that has undergone the same amount of time, training, and experience as Jiren, Broly is obviously stronger. Likewise, if you compare a Jiren who has no experience whatsoever (remember Jiren's past when his master/friends were killed?) with the current Broly, obviously Broly wins.
Even if they were equal in strength, remember that Jiren was formally trained and had a career as a fighter. Jiren, despite his bulk, knows fighting techniques. Broly on the other hand just _swings._ Back then Piccolo easily destroyed Gero (Artificial Human 20) even when Gero outclassed him in strength, speed and energy pool, because Piccolo knows how to fight, while Gero relies on specs and stats alone. I think it'll be the same with Jiren vs Broly. Jiren most probably _wins_ a fight against Broly. Jiren may not be _the stronger one_ between the two, but if it was a fight, Jiren has a really, really good chance at winning.

It was merely narrative to the theme of the fight, the difference between fighting for yourself and fighting for others. Goku then beat Jiren to the point he admitted defeat. To say that goku had lost when he was down is like saying a boxer lost a fight because they had a single down in the middle of the fight even though they ultimately won by knockout.

He fought people who could destroy planets at small percentages of their power, but not to that ease and degree. And at such a speed goku couldn't even react to it really. Hella reasons for him to shit himself there. Along with the obvious hint that Z fighters can sense energy in attacks. Just because an attack doesn't destroy a planet doesn't mean their isn't planetary+ energy coming behind it.

Brolly was hitting his limit, and if we acknowledge the fact that he got back to his base form when he arrived at the planet shows just how much that form burned his body down and that he still has a lot to learn, that said Brolly has the most potential, yes even more than Gohan.

As much as I love Broly, I think Jiren would win and here's why: even if they have equal power; or even if Broly is stronger, when in just his wrathful state, he goes insane. So combine that berserk state with the rage and sorrow that goes into going ssj and full power, AND the fact that he has ZERO actual fighting skill or expirience, and Broly would never be able to think right ir make rational choices while Jiren, on the other hand, can think calmly and rationally while still maintaning his incredibly high power.
Jiren is stronger than Broly, but Broly has so much untapped potential. Vegeta was his first real fight, and he surpassed SSG easy. And since this iteration has a pure heart, he could easily tap into god ki through the ritual or training with whis. Jiren could beat Broly now, but Broly could easily surpass him with some training

I think you guys are forgetting WHAT broly actually is... Goku and Vegeta are both known to be at the pinnacle of the Saiyan race, where both of them are just normal saiyans who happen to have decent potential and years of experience-- which is why they are at the level they are at.
For people who have been following dragon ball since the start its been emphasised time and time again that the "Legendary Saiyan" is something to behold, with the reference point of two normal Saiyans- Goku and Vegeta. Its fact that a legendary saiyan is a Saiyan but with MONSTROUS capabilities.
I understand that the argument of just saiyan isn't entirely valid because now goku and vegeta posses god ki, but the very fact that they had to fuse to KEEP UP, with a novice fighter--Broly just shows the extent of Broly's power.
Give that battle experience to Broly (I'm talking about power threshold which increases after every battle for a Saiyan), and he would solo the tournament arc.

Not only did Broly face post TOP Goku and Vegeta, he over powered them from a Frieza Saga power level to a power level beyond their own individual levels. Not to mention that Gogeta wents all out on Broly, whaling on him furiously, using star dust buster on him, and bursting dimensions only to merely piss Broly off. I love the video, but let me say one critique. You have to remember Brolys only appearance was in a movie, which means some info has to be handed to us in a way that normally in the show it may not be. For example, Goku states fusion wouldnt be enough for Beerus in God movie. Now, if Goku is so bad at scaling, does this mean we cant take this info at face value, and maybe Vegito has a chance? No, because its a movie and they need to give certain info out quickly without having to spend too much time on it, which is why we all know Vegito wont work. When you think about this, Goku saying Broly is possibly Beerus level means we can probably take it at face value to a degree, UNTIL other Info states otherwise.
Now Jiren > Broly currently in terms of power given based on their feats is how I feel too, so dont think this is to say Broly would win for sure, but I think theres way too much dismissal on Gokus word here, especially considering they really are just constantly retconning Beerus power level, so honestly its less Goku being dumb and more writing issues.

I think people are forgetting that broly was literally destroyed both goku and vegeta who were both using SSJB and he wasn’t even in control of himself, he as lashing out..now imagine how crazy broly would be if he could control himself. The problem is that we just saw the reaction of the characters to Broly in his normal SSJ form.
When he transformed into SSJ berserk against Gogeta SSJ blue we didn't see reactions shots or anything. Therefore, it's still posible that Broly is stronger in his SSJ berserk.

This is my take on this:
1. The Gods being more fearful of Jiren is because they already knew about Jiren's power for a long time, unlike Broly who was just recently discovered. You could say the same with Kefla. Heck, you could even say the same with Goku. Remember them sweating or in denial at the power of UI/MUI Goku? They're unaware of a Saiyan's power.
2. At this point in the DB universe, it's obvious that Jiren is stronger than Broly, but in my opinion, if you're going to compare Jiren with a Broly that has undergone the same amount of time, training, and experience as Jiren, Broly is obviously stronger. Likewise, if you compare a Jiren who has no experience whatsoever (remember Jiren's past when his master/friends were killed?) with the current Broly, obviously Broly wins.

Even if they were equal in strength, remember that Jiren was formally trained and had a career as a fighter. Jiren, despite his bulk, knows fighting techniques. Broly on the other hand just _swings._ Back then Piccolo easily destroyed Gero (Artificial Human 20) even when Gero outclassed him in strength, speed and energy pool, because Piccolo knows how to fight, while Gero relies on specs and stats alone. I think it'll be the same with Jiren vs Broly.
Jiren most probably _wins_ a fight against Broly. Jiren may not be _the stronger one_ between the two, but if it was a fight, Jiren has a really, really good chance at winning.
