Linda, you have a superpower that I need to develop. Your ability to navigate negative comments is admirable. I'm sorry though that you have to do so. I appreciate you sharing your garden and knowledge. Your begonias and Silverado sage look especially pretty!
Yes, you made yourself VERY clear on last video . I think maybe some, just need to pay closer attention 😉. Seems here lately there is a few "nit pickers" (that's my nice word) 😅 ... (Dress to short... The next week your pants were to long etc etc 🙄) I must say you take it all with such grace ! Everything is looking gorgeous ! Those steps are everything (as I knew they would 😊) This whole process is so exciting ! Thank you so much for all you guys offer us !!!
I thought Linda explained very well, and I agree people aren't maybe listening to what she is saying. We had similar restrictions in Ipswich Queensland a few years ago. When it got to no hose watering then you had to use shower water, ie the water before your shower is the temperate you like. I'd put a bucket under the shower head. Also we used the rinse water from washing machines.
Linda, There is no way (even being 70 years old) I would tell YOU that you are doing something wrong or suggest another way to water or do anything. In my opinion you have more experience then most of us. You know your plants, garden & were not born yesterday! Lol To have to go into great detail to detour ‘nonsense’ is unfortunate but, you take it in stride with great curtesy. You are such a sweetheart❣️
You are such a lady handling the negativity. I’m sure you realize the majority of your viewers are not as judgmental as the rest. And I love the steps! Looking forward to the different stages of finishing the backyard. Tell Stewart I think y’all play well together!
THANK YOU so much for endorsing the stainless steel watering hose and supplying the link. I just received mine and it is so much more than I expected. I've gone through so many crappy hoses but this one is in a class of its own!
You always handle yourself with such grace and dignity. You are truly a class act. Luv your channel and all the information you provide. I noticed your backyard entry gate. Have you thought about adding a top to it of lattice with a circular cut out in the middle? Anyway, everything is looking awesome as always.
You are so right about the metal hose. I remember when you recommended it and didn't purchase one at that time. The rubber hose I had was making me so miserable, watering was a chore I dreaded! This hose has changed my life!! The other kinked, got trapped under my gate, and was just a royal pain!! This metal one is like butter. I can even turn the water on and pull it out of the hose storage we have. Never do that with the horrible rubber thing. Thanks, need one for the front.... Thanks for the watering tips. I am in the Houston area. We are having a cooler day, only 95 with a feels like 101. Was able to redo a bed first thing this morning. Hugs!!
I think its fair (and important)to ask for clarification when we sometimes are not too sure, its not necessarily being negative. Although perhaps some people can seem unintentionally rather abrasive when questioning. Linda always responds so graciously, Im sure she gets this.
Thank you Linda for repeating the watering information again, yes obviously some people weren't fully present with what you were saying to us in the previous vlog... you always make perfect sense to me and are so gorgeous with sharing your knowledge.
I purchased that hose, 100 feet, from Amazon and received it the next day. I love it, and really is lightweight. It is a trip hazard so you have to be careful. I love the way it slides across everything. So much easier than my other hoses.
❤ you are the best. You handle yourself very well. You explained everything very well. But i must say loved the extra video. I look forward to seeing your videos. Stewart also does a superb job. Love it !
Love to water, I am known as the water lady, and have been, in alllll my homes... Always have had 100's of flowers and trees...water is as important as many many gardening ventures. ❤
It’s so appreciated when you say something has gray foliage because that color does not transfer well on camera, and it’s highly prized as a contrast color.
I have always just watered at the root. It was helpful in your last video to show that watering the foliage can remove bugs! Thank you - you are always very clear!
Thx Linda for going into greater detail on how to water. My common sense understood your explanation the first time , but understandably, we are all different and some require a more detailed explanation. You always do a fabulous job of explaining gardening tips. Thx for sharing your expertise and knowledge with us!
I used the moisture granuals this year. It is helping a lot (Ohio 6a). I only water my pots a few times a week. I have a lot of pots in all sizes. They are all thriving.
Your new stairway is a showstopper! Way to go Kayla and Crew and of course, Linda, for your brilliant design. I think the juxtaposition of the more “freestyle” front yard with the little more formal style oasis in the back yard, is going to give you the perfect mix of garden enjoyment. I can just see that back yard filled with huge potted olive trees (more than you already have), Silverado sage and your potted junipers to mimic the huge ones that are along the fence line for some winter interest. Yay! 💜
Just got my Gadget hose in. Bonus for free it comes with the hose sprayer. Oh my goodness, I love this thing. If you've got to replace your hose this is the one!
I'm glad you brought up that watering will dust plants, and knock off "vermin". I have issues with my next-door neighbor (and our houses here are quite close) who never does anything with her limited plants out in front of her house as there's a drip system. So unless there's rain, nothing gets washed off. I walked by her overgrown vine the other day and a huge grasshopper-like bug jumped out. Thankfully it headed right for the street and a man driving by in a truck came to a screeching stop when he saw it! I guess now that I'm over 70 using a hose outside is my current version of playing in the water as my friends and I did as kids here.
Looking at your fabulous new back steps,I think a black an white striped!( curved) owning over your back door would be a great finishing touch! We love spending your money with our ideas.😉🌼🌻🌺🌸
Here in Sacramento lawns can be watered twice per week. Pots may be hand watered as needed. To help we have a large container in our kitchen sink to catch water including grey water and a large bucket in the shower to catch water while waiting for it to get hot. We get quite a bit of water this way which we use to water pots and in ground plants.
This is a great video. I think I need to ensure I have drainage holes in my pots. Side note, would love a video on what you do for exercise as you look fit.
We would love an extra video EVERY DAY Linda!!! Love what you doing with this new property so much FUN and for us to watch, thank you for your hard work and for sharing! 💕💞💕😍🤩😍🤩😍🤩🥰🥰🥰
Great tips. You definitely mentioned spraying foliage for bugs. When I did my hand watering this morning I remembered to do that. I am a long time gardener but didn't know that.
All of your potted plants look so lush and gorgeous so bravo to you for all the upkeep! Also, I agree these metal hoses are the bomb! Such time savers because I am not having to constantly unkink them when watering. Also thanks again for the Premier Plant rec. I not only got their box woods but also other plants that have arrived in Fab condition and are really thriving in the garden. Heartily endorse their online plants!
I bought a plastic kiddie pool for deep watering. I put my potted ferns in and fill the pool with about 4 inches of water. Go about other gardening chores and remove them a hour later.
Last year and the year before, here in Northern Ca during our extreme drought we could only water twice a week before 10am or after 8 pm, no matter what. The only exception was veggie gardens as they are a source of food. We were catching water in the showers, in the sinks( waiting for warm water or rinsing veggie or draining spaghetti etc) to water our smaller pots of flowers. It is so much nicer this year although we are still on some restrictions.
By the way-this would be a perfect yard setting for some big, beautiful “bottomless” pots for more permanent plantings! 🌳 🌸. The possibilities are endless!!
I lived in CO for many years. In the summer I had to water hanging baskets twice a day and pots once a day (except large pots). Moved to VA a few years ago and learned the hard way to factor in the high humidity out here as to when to water plants.
Linda here in the desert, I’ve started using terra cotta “ollas” in my large pots and trugs, even in some of my pots and trugs on the drip system. It really helps consistently regulate the moisture in the soil.
Hey Linda u are the best i understood the first video but u came back and demonstrated again i do the same way u do and i been had that hose it's the best I'm 77 works great love your home.
I take a 5 gallon bucket, and drill a very small hole at the bottom SIDE. I then place the bucket close to a young tree, shub, etc, hole facing towards the plant, and this way it drains slowly so the water does not wash away from the base of the plant. Big help with my busy schedule.
I’m going to take your advice again Linda and purchase one of those metal hoses. I am so tired of pulling rubber hoses around that get twisted and hung up on my plants. Thank you 🙏 again for your words of wisdom. Love❤ your channel!
I find that watering in the morning is just a big waste of time in a couple hours the sun has dried them again I learned from my grandma to water in the early evening that way the truly get a good soaking in my 58 years I’ve never had a problem with rotting or mold ! Unless I bought a plant and brought it home with something already!
I completely understood what you meant when you said that you are just watering a little bit yesterday because you had already watered in the morning. But it was still nice to see and hear you speak of it again. I think in the future you should do a segment on traveling and how to live a garden Inspired Life while traveling. For example what type of clothing do you wear when you travel, how would you pack, and how do you stay stress-free while traveling? And always an inspiration to me....I've dropped 52 lbs. Getting weighed today hopefully there's more coming off! And I just love that black T-shirt you were wearing!
I’m in Florida with this heat and I found I have had to invest in faux terra cotta saucers with a deep lip. It buys me 3 days of watering in 1 day of watering. I think I don’t lose the run off and it gives the plant a deep soak.
You covered a lot of info! I just purchased some terra cotta watering spikes. You put them in a container and then insert a long neck bottle into the spike and it slowly waters the pots. A water bottle didn’t last very long so I just switched to a wine bottle which hold more. The jury is still out since I just started using them. It would be good for when your on vacation, also for indoor plants.
There was something so relaxing watching you water. Thank you for all your tips. I like a long watering wand mainly so I can get under foliage to the roots that is planted in the ground while trying to avoid wetting the foliage…unless they have bugs to wash off.
You definitely said those things. I have found that a lot of people just don’t listen very well. 😀😀😀 there are some plants, too, where, in addition to the reasons you mentioned, I also water foliage because some plants like a higher humidity level and even though it’s temporary, watering the foliage will give them more humidity. Some plants, rather than putting them in a bucket, I will just go back and water several times per session to make sure they really got enough water despite it coming out the bottom, because it’s easier for me, lol.
I am with you, I have a Dramm long watering wand but I don’t like it. I think it’s the weight like you said, and also, because I am in a scooter, it’s just more unwieldy than a regular size nozzle. I had just purchased a new hose but if it doesn’t work out, I have put the metal one you recommended in my cart. Very frustrating to deal with a kinked hose when you are on a scooter and the kink is 30 feet back. 😊
Love your channel, the video content is great, entertaining, and full of wonderful tips and information. Lately, there have been so many hypercritical comments or “point of views” that seemed unnecessary. You are a classy, amiable, and delightful person and as such respond with grace to them almost constantly and in the process probably keeping you from sharing more interesting topics than to try and explain them all. Let’s enjoy the content that Linda and Stewart so graciously put together to share and entertain all of us with such delightful information and amazing tips. Let’s be supportive and give positive energy and not concentrate on the minor details 😊🙌🏻🙏🏻🌸🌼🪴💜
People call you on everything, you never get a break. Just wanted to tell you about our water restrictions in Kingston, Ontario. We are right on the northern shore of Lake Ontario and don't get nearly as hot as Oklahoma City. Despite this between June 15th and September 15th we may only water on the odd or even day based on which side of the street we are on and can only use sprinkling devices between 5 to 10 a.m. on our day. We also are on metered water so our utility bill is based on how much water we use and also a separate sewer fee-based on usage. I have never seen Lake Ontario go dry, LOL.
I have five 70 gallon rain barrels around the yard, with rain chains as downspouts. I use this water to water my plants. I do not water my ferns, I get a 5 gallon pail and totally submerged the plant in the pail until it is fully saturated and I know it is when I lift it and it is heavy. When I have a fern in a pot with other plants surrounding it, I first place a pot ( a bit larger) in the centre and put the pot with the fern in it so I can lift it without disturbing the soil. I see you do that with your topiaries.
LOVE THOSE STEPS Linda ,,, did you do a segment on those being done ? Did I MISS that one ? I am Totally Enjoying ALL of your hard work.... & HI Stewart !!
Very informative on watering. Love to actually see a person do the watering. I am in Minnesota and we have had a much warmer June and July so have noticed I have to water my flower beds and pots more frequently. I would like to see how you fertilize your yard and pots, and with what container or sprayers. Thanking you in advance!!
I watered my pots this morning well and found my squash fainted at 4 p.m. It's just too damn hot. I only use pocket hoses to keep from tripping. I love them.
I have a rain barrel that I cut the opening T so I can just take my bucket and fill it from the top, ( I can still put the screen on. ) no waiting for the pail to fill from the bottom. When I would fill from the tap at the bottom I would be impatient and do something else and come back to an overflowing 😱.
Here in the mountains of NC it is much cooler and I can draw up a large container of water, let it sit over night to release the chlorine and add miracle grow. Then I water my pots with the fertilized water. But I am careful not to let it sit too long because of mosquitoes. (I don’t have nearly as many pots as you so I can do that easily). Your plants are beautiful!!!
Linda will you address the edging around beds and how it is done again. We have used shovel but I liked the way yours looked and I ordered the tool from prime in your store. We have grass that tries to come across to beds. Thanking you in advance.
If the soil in the pot is dried out there is a different way of watering. You may have already mentioned this. When the soil is dry I water in spurts or I water with the water at a fast drip or a slow stream. I hate when I let the soil dries out. I will put the pot in a pot of water or sit in a chair and take my time watering😅
The stairs look perfect as is but I’m sure will be even better after. 108 here in north Texas so yes to more watering tips and double yes to extra video (a special treat no doubt)
Learned a lot! Will be on the hunt for that Texas sage tree. That is magnificent. BUT...please explain the design of your top. It almost looks Alfred Hitchcocky!!😊
Thanks for the clarification, Linda. I also garden in your same garden zone (Oklahoma zone 7a) and struggle with keeping my plants happy when it’s over 90 degrees and nights also stay warm. I am fortunate to have well water that seems unlimited as it’s never slowed up even once in the 60 plus years it’s been on our farm. Even with that, I do try very hard to be frugal with my water. My question is “do you ever use those water granules and/or the small lava rocks in your pots to help hold more water”?
Thank you for sharing all of your gardening experience, I really learn a lot from watching your videos. There will be be the peeps who just love to input negatively 😝 I love your tank top today. Can you send a link to where to got it? Thank you!!!
Do you leave your boxwoods that are in pots out all winter? Also, I am fairly new to gardening and haven’t been able to decide how to add some evergreens and bushes to my garden beds. You should do a show that you have viewers send in pictures that you answer questions like that. That would be great since you have such a good design eye.
Stairs are looking fabulous!! Would love to see a shot from the compost tumbler/garage side? Unless I've missed it, we've only seen them from the other side. Very excited to see the backyard evolve.
In the FAQ section on the City of OKC Water Conservation Measures page it says it's okay to hand water or use drip irrigation daily. Just can't use automated or manual sprinklers except on the odd/even days that correlate to address. Didn't know if you knew this or not. I have used drip hoses during the hottest months around my hydrangeas for the past several years.
Please don’t ever get discouraged by the people with negative comments because there are lots and lots of people that hang on your every word enjoying everything you share!!! You are a beautiful person inside and out!!!
Evidently watering is a hot topic, but as always you have handled the comments with so much grace. 👍😊
Linda, you have a superpower that I need to develop. Your ability to navigate negative comments is admirable. I'm sorry though that you have to do so.
I appreciate you sharing your garden and knowledge. Your begonias and Silverado sage look especially pretty!
Thank you!
Lol. A few!
Thank you dear!
You are so thoughtful. As a fairly new gardener, I appreciate all your tips. Thanks for sharing
You bet!
Good job Linda on the watering, you look in top shape too. I really need to get back into shape. Stay cool and hydrated.
I'm loving the begonia collection shown here. So pretty.
I’m loving your background and those gorgeous steps. What a wonderful sanctuary you are making. LOVE ❤️ IT!
I feel you did an excellent job relating your watering protocol the first video. It was a lot of information!
Linda, you look beautiful. You have amazing skin! Enjoy all your topics and suggestions.
Linda, just for the record…I was not confused at all!!!!
Was great to have a extra video, unexpected and fun.
Fresh Basil 🌿 pesto!! Yummy 😋. Please video and share. Thank you for additional watering lessons and demonstrations. ❤❤❤
I also love, love the steps. So beautiful!!
Thanks Linda for your kindness and consciousness ❤
I have added sauces to my large pots. It has helped my herbs an other plants.
I purchased that hose, 100 feet, from Amazon and received it the next day. I love it, and really is lightweight. It is a trip hazard so you have to be careful. I love the way it slides across everything. So much easier than my other hoses.
I concur!
Great video! You did mention almost everything in your previous video, if not all the watering tips lol love your new steps!😊
❤ you are the best. You handle yourself very well. You explained everything very well. But i must say loved the extra video. I look forward to seeing your videos. Stewart also does a superb job. Love it !

It’s so appreciated when you say something has gray foliage because that color does not transfer well on camera, and it’s highly prized as a contrast color.
And I love it~~
So far we have no requirements live by Lake Erie. So glad we have all the water you could want!!!!
Your name Linda (meaning beautiful) fits your person to a T! Thank you so much for sharing snippets of your gardening life with us! 💐❤

Water is becoming such a precious resource I fear that no one will escape water restrictions in the long term.
Funny, I thought your last video about watering was very clear.
Lol!
It is that!
Thanks for clarification. Nice job😊
The steps are awesome
I have 2 dramms and love them, but I am going to find a small one similar to what you use.
Yes, if the water runs straight through the first time I come back to it at the end and slowly water it again two or three times.
Love you Linda👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼🙋🏻♀️🌼🌺🌸
It's been a while since I've watched your channel. Oh, I miss that beautiful backyard of your other home.
Watering has become a HUGE problem for me this year. I lost two boxwood because I didn't notice there was no drainage.
My hunt is over. Walked in to Home Depot today....first plant I saw was Texas Sage!! Karma from Linda's video....and that Hitchcocky shirt😊
Love your back steps! We are in monsoon season in NY, too much water. I always watered the roots, good yo know I can clean up the plants.
I love your steps in the back! I chuckle at some of the comments you get.
Me too😉
I needed this so much. Thank you❤️❤️
They make a half length wand that I like to use with my metal hose.
I have a similar hose, and stepped on it and fell. I didn’t understand at first, but it does not give like a regular hose.
Thank you for sharing all of your gardening experience, I really learn a lot from watching your videos. There will be be the peeps who just love to input negatively 😝 I love your tank top today. Can you send a link to where to got it? Thank you!!!
I miss seeing your hanging baskets in the trees ,you used to have in your other backyard 😉
You're amazing.
Excellent as always!
Hello, Linda I’m getting ready to put in my landscape in my back and side yard and I’m wondering what gravel you used for your walkways?
In the FAQ section on the City of OKC Water Conservation Measures page it says it's okay to hand water or use drip irrigation daily. Just can't use automated or manual sprinklers except on the odd/even days that correlate to address. Didn't know if you knew this or not. I have used drip hoses during the hottest months around my hydrangeas for the past several years.
I did NOT know and so appreciate this!
Linda - your begonias are beautiful. Do you put them in the greenhouse or somewhere protected in the winter?
Yes!
